In the city where demon kinds resided was a shophouse. In the shophouse was a collector. It was not the only collector in the land nor on earth. The collector showed its badge collections to its guests, sharing the history of each badge like an excited boy scout.
"This badge... is made of shinning talent and sexual trauma. And this one, quite similar is one of supreme upright character but came from an unfortunate, unloving household." Its dark fingers gently stroke against the rim of the badge. "Both took their own lives, poor souls. They were so broken but because of their imperfections, the light bends against their flaws creating this iridescent glow and rainbow like effect."
The crowds awed.
"I have a lot of badges that passed away peacefully," one of the audience said. "Me too, I think those aren't as precious since they are pretty common," its friend replied.
"Well, all of them are precious. That is why they are called God's creation. We just love the beauty that comes from harvesting them," replied the shop owner and it continued, "God's gacha game. The bloodline, the unique history, the hardiness of the soul, the tenacity, the emotions. If only the humans knew how much power they innately possessed. Enough, to create a miracle. So regardless of how common they are, each of them has the power to change the world. Imagine the strife and struggles in their world. Like the "Gu" in their story, the Earth is the perfect fermentation pot for them."
"Is that why we harvest them and give them as tribute to the Gods?" a childlike voice squeaked.
"The Gods have no use for them. They merely cleanse them and distribute them to different parts of the multiverse . Some relive their old lives, some live new ones. Those who were not cleaned properly could still recall their past lives and there were some that they left in our hands for safekeeping. To me, they are perfect in whichever form they are harvested in. The more unique the better." The dark bony hand brushed lovingly against the shiny round badges and the rest of them agreed in unison.
