The coroner started to inspecting my body. Cutting my clothes off cleanly with her stainless steel scissors. I noticed her swift professional actions and unwavering attention as she my continued to undress my body. As her hands reached for my underwear, I tried my best to cover up my dignity with my invisible body. "Ahh!" She yelled as my body twitched. "I can never get used to this."
She walked to a chair and slumped onto it, looking at the ceiling and pushed up her frameless glasses.
"Why did I choose to be a coroner?" "Sigh. Let's continue shall we, Mr Indigo. And no more sudden jerks!" She said while signalling a cross with her right hand. Despite my cries for protest to maintain dignity, my voice fell on deaf ears. My clothes were in her hands and I was as naked as a baby.
If only that fireman was here, maybe he could help! But it was already too late. Cry! I hope at least it was impressive...
"Oh my, what do we have here?" "Interesting" The impish looking coroner continued, "This doesn't look like a case of suffocation and he probably passed away in his sleep. I better get Rebecca to do some test." The coroner picked up a phone and dialled the extension to the pathologist, "Hello, Dr Rebecca? Dr Meifung here, I have an urgent case here, do you have any free slots later? No? Tomorrow morning? Okay sure. 7am then. Case ID 457132. His family is uncontactable, still trying to reach them. See you tomorrow."
"Mr Indigo, you're a complicate one aren't you. In the fridge you go tonight." Said Dr Meifung, while making another cross with her hand. After a few notes made on the file, the coroner exited the scene.
So there is a chance that someone killed me. Oddly, I have never felt so alone before. Not a ghost nor my family in sight, just me huddled in a corner... waiting for the sun to rise.
