Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

After having rested for a while Ming Yue sat up and examined the sword. It was exceptionally beautiful with a silvery blade and golden hilt. An inscription ran along the blade and looked particularly mysterious and reminded her of the inscription she had seen on Yao Yao's silver bracers.

She swung the sword and felt it was almost weightless in her hands unlike the cumbersome wooden practice sword she was used to.

Using the sword to cut a small incision on her finger she quickly refined the sword and was filled with a familiar feeling as if she had used the sword for several years.

"So you're called the Crescent Moon Sword." Ming Yue said as the sword seemed to speak to her non-verbally. It had a primitive spirit but lacked intelligence, at best it could be explained that it had and could communicate feelings.

She looked at the Crescent Moon Bracelet which had lost all of its luster and sighed. "If I had found you sooner perhaps you could've seen your original master one last time."

The sword seemed to tremble.

"I'm sorry for being so useless. I can't even find my way out of this formation." Ming Yue burrowed her head in her knees.

Yao Yao and Chen Mei stood in front of the three elders in the main hall of the sect's palace.

"Ming Yue has been missing for over a week and you've already told us she didn't go with our First Senior Brother, so where is she?" Yao Yao said.

The three elders looked at each other, of course they didn't know either, but how was this their problem? They weren't her master, Jun Xi was. Perhaps he had sent her away on a mission neither of them knew about. And here Ming Yue's friends were demanding answers from them? Where was the justice?

"Yao Yao, we've already told you that we don't know. Why do you keep asking us? If you want to know of Ming Yue's whereabouts of course you should go and ask her master." The third elder said.

"But her master isn't in the sect and you've already told us Ming Yue didn't follow him. So she must've gone missing." Yao Yao said.

Suddenly the two doors to the hall slammed open and a pressure wave rushed in which cause Yao Yao and Chen Mei to buckle their knees and forced them to kneel down to the ground.

"What has happened to Ming Yue?" Jun Xi's domineering voice echoed in the hall and seemed to come from every direction. The moment he was about to enter the hall he had heard Yao Yao's last sentence.

The three elder's faces paled.

The second elder was a little braver and stepped forward. "Junior, we don't know."

Jun Xi frowned and then turned around and disappeared into thin air.

A moment later he arrived at the divination hall. "Find Ming Yue!"

The several elders in the hall looked up at Jun Xi. Then they began calculating. Meanwhile, Yao Yao, Chen Mei, and the three elders arrived.

After a few moments one of the divination elders frowned. "What is she doing in one of the forbidden zones?" Whether he spoke to himself or answered Jun Xi seemed unknown, then he continued, "She's at the formation core guarding the Crescent Moon Sword."

"T-The Crescent Moon Sword!? What's this girl thinking?" The third elder said.

"What's the Crescent Moon Sword?" Yao Yao asked.

The Second Elder explained, "Many years ago there was a sect that belonged to the demonic faction called the Crescent Moon Sect. During a battle the Sect Leader of the Crescent Moon Sect was killed by one of our disciples and he took the sword as his own. But he was slowly corrupted by it and ended up killing hundreds of our disciples before he was stopped. The elders at that time then sealed the sword in one of our most powerful formations and has since been undisturbed."

"If it's such a powerful formation how did Ming Yue enter it?" Yao Yao asked.

The three elders looked at each other but could only shake their heads. They had no idea. Normally it should be impossible for one of their disciples to enter the formation.

"Ming Yue?"

Ming Yue looked up and saw Jun Xi crouching beside her. "Jun Xi? Jun Xi!" At first she didn't think it was really him, but then when she did she threw herself into his embrace and then began bawling out loudly. "I thought. I thought I'd never see you again!" She cried as she buried her face into his robes.

Jun Xi stroked her hair and sighed.

A few minutes later she seemed to have calmed down, so he asked, "How did you get in here?"

Ming Yue sniffled. "It's this stupid bracelets fault! It made me enter this place in my sleep shortly after you left. Then it taught me some sword moves and showed me the way to this sword."

Jun Xi glanced at the sword and his brows raised a little in surprise. "You've gained the Crescent Moon Sect's inheritance?"

Ming Yue nodded. "I think so."

He grabbed Ming Yue's shoulders and pulled her away from him slightly so that he could look her in the eye. "Don't tell anyone about this! And never use the sword moves or show the sword to anyone from our sect. Especially the elders." They could hide her demonic aura but if she began to use a sword and sword moves that belonged to one of the sects of the demonic faction it would be difficult to explain.

Ming Yue suddenly had an outburst of anger and pushed Jun Xi away. "Another thing I have to keep secret!? Jun Xi, how many more secrets do you wish for me to hide? Yesterday when I was out having dinner with my two new friends I truly thought they were my friends. But what kind of friend am I? I keep hiding things from them and I keep hiding more and more things from them and the sect you wish for me to call my home! I... I feel like I don't truly belong here. I feel like I don't belong anywhere. In fact, I think it was a mistake the heavens sent me to this world in the first place. I'm supposed to be a normal girl in my hometown back in a world were cultivation belongs to stories and not a fruit demon who doesn't belong anywhere." The more the words flowed out of her the more her tears flowed out.
