Chapter 11 - Admitting

I swept a lock of hair behind my ear and walked straight into Jonathan. Thankfully, the hallway was empty for now. But in five minutes, the hallway would be crowded.

"Er...," I said as I felt him stiffen, once again, below the hips.

Jonathan was a shade of red deeper than a tomato. He looked so awkward, I almost felt bad for him. Then I really did feel bad when I realized I was the reason he was so awkward.

"S-sorry," he mumbled.

"No, no, it's my fault," I apologized. "I should have paid more attention to where I was going—"

"It's true you know," he blurted randomly, then raised a hand to his mouth.

"What?" I asked stupidly.

"Th-the rumor," he stuttered.

"Oh...," I said. "Er, well, I guess my end of that rumor's true, also."

He frowned. "What...what do you mean?"

"I have a crush on you, too," I said softly.

"O-oh!" Jonathan cried, shocked.

We stared at each other.

His eyes drifted toward my lips. "Uh...er, may I?"

I giggled, lovesick all over. "You may."

Jonathan's eyes fluttered closed and he moved in to kiss me, his hands finding resting places on my hips. My own hands were laced around the back of his neck.

He hesitated for just a moment—

He moved in close to kiss me—

Those lips were so close—

The door next to us slammed open and we jumped apart.
