While Tang Peng was battling the muscular cultivator, the people in the carriage took out their swords and chopped off the heads of the Brutal Pirates bandits. Even though the fatso was still alive, he was practically a living corpse, so he could not resist the ordinary people at all.
There was a huge bounty on the entire Brutal Pirates worth at least 35 golden coins. Just two of the trio could fetch around approximately 20 golden coins.
20 golden coins could already be invested to expand their business to larger parts of Long City. The best thing was that they did not even have to lift a finger to gain the gold coins. The mysterious master did everything for them. They gathered the heads in their carriage, before Xiu Tan's father hurriedly whipped the camels, which started to move the carriage again.
Tang Peng did not notice anything at all, as he concentrated on the cultivator. The cultivator was especially imposing with two butcher knives. Suddenly, the two knives were thrown forward with great speed.
"Swish!" The knives were aimed at Tang Peng's head. The cultivator did not even bother to attack the area below the neck, as the purple robes would block all the attacks.
Tang Peng twisted his body, only narrowly avoiding the knives, but the cultivator stomped over, before jumping towards Tang Peng, intending to crush Tang Peng under his sheer weight.
"You intend to use your weight? Don't you have at least more skills than that?" Tang Peng scoffed at the power that the man was utilising. It was like heaven and earth, the difference between him and the high levelled cultivators.
"You have no right to mock me! All your powers are from that purple robes you have! You didn't even put in any effort at all. Disgusting!" The muscular man criticised Tang Peng vehemently, before grabbing the knives that were in mid air and swung them down.
"It seems like you don't even know what you're dealing with here." Tang Peng was confident, as he activated the power of the ghost inside his body. It had levelled up significantly, since it had devoured a large quantity of Yin Qi from him. He still felt a pang in his heart everytime he thought about it.
The cultivator looked in horror as his prey suddenly turned into grains of sand, until all there was left was a large sand mound. Then, joy overtook him, as the purple robes were left behind.
He took the purple robes, which adjusted its size to match with him, and slipped it onto himself, laughing out loud. "I can't believe someone would be so foolish to leave this piece of good stuff for me!"
As the cultivator started walking towards Long City, he did not realise that the sand under him was slowly turning into a whirlpool. As the whirlpool expanded in size, the cultivator finally felt something was amiss.
"Quicksand? No, it's the Desert Devil!" The cultivator started to run, but he had no movement skills to escape the massive tentacles from the mouth of the Desert Devil.
The tentacles curled and wrapped tightly around the cultivator's legs, causing him to fall. It also grabbed the corpses of the other members of the Brutal Pirates, pulling them slowly back into its mouth.
"I don't want to die! I don't want to die!" The cultivator screamed repeatedly, as the primal instinct of fear was created. While he was being dragged, a giant hand made of sand grabbed the purple robes and tore it from the cultivator.
"You! You! My master will get revenge for me! Just you wait!" The cultivator shook his fist angrily at the sand hand. He was filled with utter rage on being tricked by that beggar into sacrificing himself to the Desert Devil.
The sand hand did not respond, but instead dragged the purple robes further away from the Desert Devil. The cultivator's last thoughts hinged on how he was humiliated by the beggar, and the utter hatred he felt towards him.
After the cultivator had been dragged into its stomach, the Desert Devil was satisfied, and retreated back into the unknown sands of this desert. Tang Peng also concurrently returned back to his flesh and blood self.
Wearing the purple robes once more, Tang Peng felt that the purple robes were becoming more and more valuable to him. It was thanks to it that he could defend against the various attacks that was aimed at him. Of course, he had the confidence to beat them too, but that would result in him wasting more of his Yin Qi to overcome that Ox Head Tempering Art.
However, that cultivator really had himself to blame for not noticing the rumble under them, signalling that the so-called Desert Devil was about to ambush them. Tang Peng wanted to run away, but he realised that if he let the cultivator chase after him, he might be at a disadvantage.
Therefore, at that moment, he had already came up with a plan to kill two birds with one stone. He just had to distract the cultivator long enough for the Desert Devil to make its appearance.
The sand in the desert resonated with the ghost's ability, so he spent a bit of Yin Qi to turn himself into sand. The cost of Yin Qi had dropped greatly ever since the ghost had upgraded itself. He was happy to save some Yin Qi for himself to cultivate with.
Since the Desert Devil was gone, Tang Peng quickly absorbed the Yin Qi released, and was surprised to even receive a ghost from that cultivator. The cultivator's emotions were filled with absolute hatred towards him. Upon receiving the cultivator's ghost, it was immediately consumed by the other ghost in his body.
Tang Peng felt like the cultivator's hatred was truly ironic. Wouldn't the people he killed feel hatred against him too? What right did a bandit that killed innocents have to hate him for?
"Hello? Anyone here?" Tang Peng clearly remembered that there was a carriage here, but it seemed like they had already went forward. That was pretty rude, not even thanking him for helping.
"Oh, right. He mentioned something about a master. They also had magical weapons too. What's going on in Long City?" Tang Peng contemplated about the bandits' words, before going ahead towards Long City. He wanted to see what was hidden inside Long City, and see if he could obtain some stuff for his skills too.
