"Catch 3 Face Stealing Monstrosities alive, and bring them to Liu Manor! 200 coins!" The description of Face Stealing Monstrosities was that they were cunning Yin Ghosts, which could replicate every function of the target that they were mimicking. They resided in the Devil Forest, where Yin monsters was being produced everyday.
Tang Peng was confident that he could handle this with ease. After all, his entire skill set relied on pulling ghosts into his soul. Even if his life was in danger, he could simply pull them into his soul and let that ghost inside him finish them off. Maybe he could even try to make a ghost puppet for once.
Tang Peng immediately headed off to the Registry for that bounty. Only one person or a group could have it active, in order to prevent the robbery of the bounty target. It was a heaven sent opportunity for him to improve his skills. If he did not take it now, he would be a fool.
"I would like to take the Face Shifting Monstrosities bounty!" When Tang Peng entered the Registry, he hurriedly told the receptionist.
"I'm afraid that bounty will be mine, fellow Daoist." Tang Peng turned to the person who spoke. It was a person who was dressed in rags. However, he was radiating an air of benevolence, while his skin was darkened brown.
"Are you the legendary Life Defying Monk? Please spare me, it was not me who posted the bounty!" The receptionist cried out in shock upon seeing the Yin Yang symbol on the forehead of that person.
"My master does not attack people who does not cross him, you don't have to worry." The person kindly assured the receptionist, which made him calm down straight away.
"If you are a monk, then why do you have hair on your head? Shouldn't monks be bald?" Tang Peng thought that all monks would be bald. However, this person here claimed a monk as his master, when he hasn't even shaven his hair at all.
"This is my official test to become a real monk. Now, if you will excuse me, that bounty is mine." The so-called monk slammed his hand onto the desk, and his aura this time was murderous.
"Is that how a monk should be behaving? First come first serve." Tang Peng glared at the monk, who then proceeded to stare back at him. The tension at the Registry increased at an unreal speed.
"Why don't you two just share the bounty?" The receptionist tried to lower the tension in the Registry. He was afraid that if things went on any longer, the two of them would start to fight.
"Fine! Considering that I'm in a good mood today, I will share the bounty with you!" The monk released his hands from the table, leaving two imprints there.
However, Tang Peng did not share the same sentiment. "Why should I share it with you? I got here first. Why would a monk even need gold coins?" Upon hearing what Tang Peng said, the monk's face twisted into one of fury.
The monk pulled back his arm and made a fist. Tang Peng could feel that Qi was gathering around the fist, but he ignored it.
Tang Peng let our a mischievous grin, before yelling out, "The person in front of me knows where the Life Defying Monk is! You can get 500 coins from hunting the Life Defying Monk!"
"You little rat, you actually dared to-" The rest of the sentence that the monk was saying was drowned out by the stampede of the people who were wandering outside. All of their eyes were filled with greed, and they shook the monk down.
The bounty for the Life Defying Monk had been there for a long time, since not many people had actually found his hiding place before, and even if they did, they never returned. Now that they had the Life Defying Monk's location, what was to stop them from teaming up and steamrolling him?
Tang Peng then calmly walked over to the receptionist, and got the bounty. He also registered his bounty hunter name, "Shifty Ghost".
Now that the matter was done with, Tang Peng then proceeded to buy a horse. After negotiations with the local stable owner, he managed to get a powerful horse for 5 gold coins. Tang Peng decided to name the horse Yin. It was short and simple, and he also liked the sound of the name.
Then, he exchanged his gold coin into 100 silver coins, before buying a leather map of the Five Stars Continent for 1 silver coin. However, it only marked out the names of the places, and did not have any indication of where the sects and empires were located in.
With 1 gold coin and 99 silver coins left, he was almost broke. It was a good thing that he had taken on this bounty. Tang Peng lifted himself up with ease and sat on the saddle, before grabbing the reins.
"Off to the Devil Forest!" The horse started to move at a high speed. The Devil Forest was actually quite near to Long City. Tang Peng was impressed that they had the guts to actually live near it, since Long City's guards were not very strong.
In a few minutes, Tang Peng arrived at the entrance of the Devil Forest. A thick presence of Yin Qi was already emitted just near the entrance. Tang Peng's horse started to neigh loudly upon coming into close contact with the Yin Qi.
"Calm down, Yin." Tang Peng stroked the mane of the horse to try and calm it down. After manoeuvring the horse further away from the entrance of the Devil Forest, it finally returned to a state of tranquility.
Tang Peng then dismounted from the horse's back, coming into contact with the Yin Qi. The invigoration that the Yin Qi brought him was so relaxing that he nearly let out a moan.
Tang Peng then sat down, absorbing all the Yin Qi in the area. Normal cultivators would have probably been suffocated by the Yin Qi, but this was Tang Peng's own cultivation heaven. After moving around and absorbing all the Yin Qi outside the Devil Forest, Tang Pen then converted them into spiritual soil.
Tang Peng could feel that the spiritual soil inside him was already forming a large pile. If he could continue his cultivation inside the forest, he was sure that the pile of soil would quadruple in no time.
Tang Peng then headed inside the gloomy forest. There were living shadows inside, lurking in every corner, while many eyes stayed hidden inside the trees. A small creature laid inside the deepest part of the Devil Forest, feeling Tang Peng's intrusion inside.
Its demonic lips curled up into a smile, before uttering a guttural sound that could only be interpreted by ancient scholars.
"Finally."
