Chapter 36 - Fugitive

"Sir, reports are coming in from Long City that they have seen a devil apparition in the sky above Devil Forest." Martial Emperor Ji Seng was meditating in his private residence, when Grand Eunuch Ling reported to him about the situation in Long City.

"Long City. You mean that tiny city run by the Life Providence Empire?" Ji Seng opened his eyes, which were filled with crimson flames. Even though Ling was at Rotating Core, he could feel the heat from Ji Sheng's eyes roasting him alive.

Ji Seng was a talent with great willpower. Even though he had potential that barely qualified him as a court soldier, using the legendary Yang Flame Baptism, he tempered himself into Peak Yang Body state.

Yang Fire Baptism was a powerful tempering art that only madmen dared to play with. It mean forcibly inserting Yang Fire into your meridians to burn away the Yin Toxins hidden inside.

It brought intense pain, as if they were chained to the sun, burning their bones and flesh. If someone stopped tempering half way from the pain, they would immediately turn into ashes.

However, it granted someone the ability to use divine fire skills and a supreme body, which was extremely useful in the battlefield. Hence, he was deemed as a divine general, and became one of the Mingtian Emperor's most trusted aides.

"Yes. I remember that there was the area where the Nine Faced Asura was sealed at. Could it be that he had somehow broke through to Astral Projection Realm?" Taking suggested a theory to Ji Seng, which made him nod.

"Certainly. The Divine Fire Trident I placed there should have been enough to seal him for 1000 years, but he had been released in just 30 years. Any demon which even came nearby to it would have died. Only a human could have done it."

Ji Seng's expression was grim. An Astral Projection Realm demon was quite troubling for him to deal with, even if he used his ultimate skill. He had only been able to seal the Nine Faced Asura the last time he fought with it.

"Find the person who released the Nine Faced Asura and kill them. That person is a traitor of humanity, colluding with the demons! As for the Nine Faced Asura, we will have to call in some reinforcements from Quanli Empire." Ji Seng ordered Ling to send out an order to find and kill the person who messed with the seal.

Ji Seng thought that person must have made a deal with the demons, since even Martial Experts would find it hard to pull out the trident without having some of their meridians destroyed.

The person needed incredible strength be able to undo the seal, which the demons could grant. He was more angry at this person than the Nine Faced Asura. A powerful expert actually betrayed humanity for more power, which he could not accept. He could still remember the eyes of his lover, who had her life taken away by a demon.

He would wait and see if this person would be caught by his men. If they were not capable enough, then he would descend himself to finish that person off! Ji Seng's eyes burned golden, before he started meditating again.

Tang Peng let himself rest on the boundary of the Devil Forest. He absorbed the Yin Qi that was coming from the forest, channeling it to his wounds. That single punch had been enough to leave him hanging by a thread. As for the pain, he was using it to fuel his hatred to recover faster.

Even though Tang Peng healed faster in Grudge Yin Form, his Yin Qi would deplete faster in order to heal his injuries, so he desperately needed more external sources of Yin Qi.

Suddenly, a giant wave of Yin Qi slowly suffused out into the area Tang Peng was in, letting him absorb plenty of Yin Qi. Soon enough, Tang Peng was healed, so he went back to his human form. As Tang Peng grappled around his body, he was saddened to realise that his weapons were gone.

"Next time, I should leave some Yin Qi instead of fully converting them into spiritual soil. It would be useful for emergencies like this."

Tang Peng reflected on his actions. The Yin Yin monster that he had absorbed was now fully digested. The woman had given him pure Yin Qi, but it was also quite limited. He converted it into a pile of spiritual soil, but left some to serve as his reserve.

He had bitten off more than he could chew this time. It would be wise to procure more information about something unknown next time from information brokers.

"That's right! I was supposed to catch some Face Stealing Monstrosities!" Realising this, Tang Peng went into the Devil Forest again. However, this time round, the forest was strangely enough devoid of all activities. It was so silent that even a twig dropping would be heard.

"Oh? The Yin Qi in this area is simply too nice. I should absorb some of it." As Tang Peng wandered deeper into Devil Forest, the purity of the Yin Qi he felt was high, so he spent a few hours absorbing it.

The higher the purity of Yin Qi, the more time he had to spend to absorb it. However, he would be rewarded with significantly more spiritual soil as a result, which was why Tang Peng did not bother absorbing Yin Qi that was very sparse, as he would not be able to even create spiritual soil with it.

After absorbing the Yin Qi in the area and converting it into spiritual soil, Tang Peng could feel his cultivation base start to hit a barrier. As he tried to convert more Yin Qi into spiritual soil, this barrier stopped it from happening.

"Well, this is troubling. It seems like I have to accumulate huge amounts of Yin Qi to get over this barrier." Tang Peng frowned, before focusing on the task at hand. He then wandered further into the Devil Forest, where the Yin Qi started to subside.

"Why did the Yin Qi stop? Could it be that some Yin monsters are around this area?" This piqued Tang Peng's interest. By right, the Yin Qi should have grown more and more. The only possibility is that it was absorbed by something else.

"WHOEVER KILLED SYLVIA WILL PAY!!!" A powerful roar echoed throughout Devil Forest, which made Tang Peng fall onto the floor from just the sound waves alone. A shadow of a giant creature was projected onto the skies again, which caused a splitting headache to anyone who looked at it.

"Sylvia? Isn't that the Yin monster which I absorbed? She had a powerful backer behind her the whole time?" Tang Peng bit his lips. This powerful backer could not ever know that it was him who killed Sylvia!
