Chapter 3 - [Chapter 3] The Arrival

Anna awake to a bright, beaming, warm sun, shining through the windows. Once her eyes adjusted to the light, she started to look around. She noticed that they had just pulled up on to a gravel road surround by trees that seemed to never end. She was then reminded that her parents had told her about the house they would be moving into was a 60 acre lot that hadn't been owned in 30 years, so it was pretty old.

After what seemed like a four minute drive, they finally pulled up to a house. The house was built in 1966, which obviously showed because the faded red paint was peeling along with some wood swelling around the rims of the door and windows. The house was a three story and had all different shapes of the windows. Some shingles were missing, which made it seem even more shady, if it didn't already.

"Well, this is our new home. Looks like this one will definitely be a project, but it was cheap for such a large house and land, so it shouldn't be too hard. What do you think Jake?" Said Anna's mom, looking at her husband with a pleasant and content smile.

"Well, it definitely needs.some work, you're not wrong about that. But, it might take awhile cause we don't have the money yet." Jake responded, giving off a air of annoyance.

Money always seemed to always be the thing that sturred the fire inside her dad. Since her dad was born in the Philippines, they lived in great poverty and always had to worry about whether they were gonna eat or not that day. Once his family moved to the US, he was forced into working a job twenty-four-seven just to afford to go to college. So ever since then, the thought of not having enough money of something brought him back to his miserable childhood.

"Of course we will consider money." She responded gently and giving him a light kiss, then turned her body torward the three kids in the back. "What about y'all? Excited about your new house?" Giving them a cheerful grin.

"Anywhere that's not this car I will eat dirt to live in." Responded with a sassy, teasing voice.

"Well, then I better not hear any complaining from any of y'all about how 'something smells weird,' or, 'the house has no air conditioning.'" She said pointing her finger at all three showing she meant what she said.

"Ok Mom." All three said in unison and laughed.
