I pull Goba up and as he looks at me I see his eyes change. His green eyes with + shaped pupils seem to fold open, the inner corners fold outwards and they become four pointed stars filled with sparkles. Or maybe the sparkles are just from water in his eyes? Yes, he's crying. "Goba, your eyes!? Are you okay?"
"Yes Creator, my eyes evolved. They were demonic eyes, able to see a bit of energy. But now I can't see light anymore, all I see is energy, and oh my master, you are stunning." His hand raises towards my face, but not touching, as if I might brake if he touches me.
"That's great Goba, you growing stronger and evolving is always a good thing! I wish I could grow stronger too. Do your new eyes have a name?"
Goba's moves his hand towards his face, his golden book appearing in it somewhere along the way. The book opens and Goba reads for a bit. "Blind Man's Eyes: Eyes that see nothing, but all the more because of it."
"What else is in that book?" I'm kinda curious, it did come from nowhere.
Goba turns it around as to show it to me, but I only see blank pages. "There are multiple chapters, the first one is for me, as this book is for me. It has my status, and it talks about evolutions, but that's still blank." The book starts flipping pages, blank pages. "Then there's a chapter about you, about what you did, stories and your lessons intertwining into a story." Goba just continues explaining, but I still see nothing. "And then there's a part called 'Priests' but it's still blank, and lastly 'believers', that's still blank too."
"Are you messing with me? I can't see anything, it looks blank to me. It's not a time to mess around right now." This Goblin never was one to joke around in serious times, maybe more chanced than I thought?
"No, no, it's really there Gosamu! I'll read a bit to you, what do you want to hear?"
I don't really want to hear about myself. "Tell me your status then."
"Okay:
Name: Goba
Lvl: 2
Class: First Priest
Title: First
Main skill: Priesting
Secondary skill: Scythe Mastry
Main traits: Blind Man's Eyes, Energy Manipulation
Potential: 3
Remark: Dedication is strength!
That's all it says for status, there's still evolution, but it's empty!"
"Magical! Even I can't read the contents of your book." There's still so much I don't know about my own world, it makes me feel kind of bad. I did get some knowledge, but mostly about how to get here, and how to summon Goba to help me out.
But I still feel like there must be more to this tower than just to hang sinners on. "But back on topic, what does this tower do?"
"Oh Great Creator, this tower, the First Temple, will be where your power and influence starts to grow from. What a real Creator needs to grow is believers, being worshipped. That's what the Temple told me, and this same tower will help you get more believers. But to do so it needs three things to create one believer.
The first thing is a fulfilled wish from one who trusts you, not necessarily a believer. You already have three of those as you've fulfilled my wish for revenge, my wish to be saved, and the original Pridove's wish for revenge.
The second thing is a cleansed soul, one that's ready to be reincarnated. So it cannot have and memories or faults.
The last thing is bodies. To create a body for the new believer its the easiest to have a body to provide flesh, blood, bones, and all other things that are needed for a new life. There might be instances where believers aren't made of flesh and blood, but we'll find a way to work around it when that happens.
At the moment we have one of the three, the second one we can start refining, and we need to hunt for the last one. This means that we are really close to creating your first follower with the Tower! Isn't that exciting!?"
Goba got really excited talking about that, he's almost jumping up and down at the end. This does give a weird impression as he keeps this scowl on his face. But that's not the most amazing part, if what he said is true, then I can actually create new life! I can create a family for myself, I start loving my world more and more!
"So, Goba, the only question I have now is: How do we start refining that soul?"
"First we take the soul we got from killing the bird, the green-black flame." The scythe appears in his hand, and the green-black flame is still hovering around the base of the blade. "This soul can be seen as two parts, the core and the memories.
The core is like a weapon, it will always be the same core no matter who wields it. But there's a huge difference in what the weapon can do depending on the technique of the one who wields it.
The memories are what makes the person, or you can see it as the technique of the weapon's wielder. It's what defines the weapon, and thus what defines the core. And in extention what defines the person.
We refine the soul so that the memories will be burned from the core, a reset, a fresh start for the new life. The first one will be the hardest, we must create a refining flame to burn memories. And the easiest and best way to do that is by burning memories, it'll create a circle that will never go out and will only grow stronger by refining more souls.
But just like with a normal fire we need kindling wood to start it. And oh Gosamu, master, let me offer some of my memories to start this fire!"
That was a lot of information! But all in all we need a burning memory to start a eternal flame of cleansing souls. An eternal flame for reincarnation! This will be a major part of my world, I must do this myself, I can't let Goba do this, it's my power after all! "Goba, let me do it, it's my world and this will be a major part of it. Its only right that I do it."
Goba stands out to stop me, his eyes look worried. I'll speak first, then he can't try talking me out of it. "Don't try to stop me, I've decided. Tell me how to start it."
"Master, I truly believe you shouldn't do this, burning your memories is no small matter, it can change you forever..." His voice grows smaller and smaller as he sees my expression getting less and less pleased. "Okay master, I won't dissuade you. But remember, you can only use memories that you actually remember, and there must be enough strength to start the flame, too little and it'd have been for naught, too much and it'll be waisted! But let's first go inside, to the altar of the Circle!" He starts walking towards the tower, I do notice his slower than usual pace, he probably wants me to think about it and not do it. But I've decided to do it, I must do this.
Now the only question remains, what should I forget?
