After having talked with Victor some more about general things another important question came up. "Victor, where do I sleep tonight?"
"Hmm, I can only offer one place tonight, cell in this building. But from tomorrow night onwards I have another option, but then you need to leave tomorrow early in the morning. You'd be taken to a bigger city, Mountainless Valley, there they have a detention house with someone who's going to be your classmate. Although his conditions are rather special, I can't tell you what happened, but I can tell you that he didn't harm anyone. If you go there you won't see me anymore until we both go to the Collage though!"
"Yeah I really want to go there! Meeting someone who shares my faith would be great. And I'm sure we can see each other again in the collage, so don't worry about it."
And so the rest of the day passed by rather quickly. Victor and I talked about many things, but we both avoided anything related to our powers. I did tell him about my dream of becoming strong enough to create a village where those I care about can live happily and safely, no matter if they're monsters or humans. He looked surprised and just smiled and patted my head, which made me feel like a kid. I gave him an angry look which earned me a chop on my head and the warning "Watch out who you give that look, it'll only make people scared or angry, both scared and angry people are dangerous."
We ate dinner, which was amazing! Fresh vegetables are the best! I had a baked potato as big as my fist and and a crunchy vegetable that was slightly sweet that went great with the chicken. I got another pat on my head while eating everything, and another chop on my head afterwards.
Soon after I asked to go to my cell, I said I was tired. Victor brought me to my cell and said goodnight, wishing me good luck for the next two weeks until I'd see him again, and reminded me that someone would come and wake me early in the morning.
"Victor, you know I haven't told you my name yet right?"
"I know, it's okay if you don't want to give it."
I shake my head. "That's not it, I only got it a few days ago, and I'm so proud of it that I don't want to give it to just everybody. My name is Gosamu!" The last part came out with even more enthusiasm than I expected.
"Did Pridove's goblin give you that name?" He gives me a weird look that I can't fully place.
"Yes!" I still tell the truth, I won't lie about the things I'm proud of.
"Do you know what that name means for Goblins... and a lot of the other Yin monster races?"
This time I'm surprised. "No?" Goba never told me anything about any meaning.
"What we know about the goblin races is that the amount of syllables show the rank of the goblin, no name for the lowest, one for the low to average level of their society, two for the elites and nobles, and lastly three for heroes and kings.
And among the names of those with three syllables is the legend of Gosamu, a legend so famous among the Yin races that even a lot of humans know of it. Gosamu was just a lowly goblin that grew to become the one that united the Yin races, and even then he felt he failed because the neutral and Yang races didn't unite under the same flag. The goblin naming you that probably means that he thinks you're doomed to fail your dream to create a place for those you care for. Or succeed what Gosamu couldn't, and not only create a peaceful place for your dear ones to live in, but to even unite all that can think under one flag.
But you said you wanted to sleep, in the Collage you probably can find some books telling about Gosamu's legend. Goodnight and try to enjoy yourself before we meet again!" He closed the door and walked away, leaving me all alone on this bed to think about what he said... Or that's what he thinks. For one, Vothe is with me, secondly I can just go into my world and ask Goba himself!
Vothe lays down on my chest with his head warmly snuggled up in my neck. I pet his head and try to send a thought to him. "Can you come into my mind again? I think I can take you to my world from there." He looks up and nods, and then I meditate, I try to remember how it felt to enter my mind.
I feel a shift and I open my eyes to see a beautiful golden whirlpool flowing into its dark centre in front of me. When I look down I see a huge golden orb blocking my view for anything else, this golden orb should be my world. There should be two more whirlpools similar to the one in front of me below my world, but I can't see them now.
Looking back up I see Vothe, floating there, he looks around in wonder. Then he looks at me and I hear a voice in my head. "Master, you made me act dumb in front of that man all day, why didn't you let me save you?"
"Sorry Vothe, I needed that man to think you were harmless. I don't think he'd have been so nice if he felt threatened, and I was sure that if we tried something he'd have taken us down in a second!" And it is true, I couldn't even see his chops on my head coming, but the pain was just annoying and it faded in a moment. If he didn't have enough control to do that it'd have hurt way more!
Vothe still looks kind of down but nods anyway. "Come Vothe, let's go!" I grab him under my arm and I believe us to be with Goba. The spontaneous teleport didn't come, we slowly descended to the big golden orb, and when my feet touched it we suddenly were in a huge plain with an endless tower behind us.
"Master Gosamu! You're here!" Goba comes running out of the tower with a smile on his face that I couldn't have imagined having before he came here.
"Yes Goba, let's catch up about what happened during my day." And so I caught him up to what happened.
~~~~~~~~~
"I don't know if you can trust him master." His frown is back on his face. "He did react rather weird after what asking about what you could do, but I wasn't there, so I'm not sure. Either way, I think it's a good choice that you're going to meet your new classmate, he must be somewhat talented, so you can train together. And younger kids are less scheming, maybe more mean and honest, but that's easier to handle."
I nog while I'm patting Vothe who's on my lap, I also think it's better not to get too close to Victor now. "I'd like to spar with you some more Goba, I need to stay sharp and keep getting better. But is it okay if I go in the Tower and look at the flame, I feel like I really want to do that for some reason."
"Of course, follow me." and so we walk to the tower. But just before we enter through the door Vothe starts struggling and jumps back! I hear his voice in my head again. "I won't go in there! I'll disappear!"
I ask Goba what that's about after telling him what Vothe said. "Well, it might be that because Vothe is in his soul form he is afraid of the Purifying Flame, it is something specifically made for purifying souls after all." That does make sense.
"Vothe, stay outside to be sure." And so, Goba and I walk into the Tower.
Walking through the door that Goba keeps open for me I see it again. An endless abyss below and an endless height looking up. Up I see a single star, below I see a faint darkgreen glow. And right in front of me I see a light gray, slowly spinning flaming orb of about two meters in diameter. Slowly walking around the edge towards the altar, but my eyes never leave the orb. It resonates with me, but it also kind of scares me. It's a wondrous feeling. It's as if I want it to be a part of me again, but if it'd be I'll burn forever. "Goba, can you leave me alone for a moment."
And there I stand, in front of the altar, a giant ball of fire in front of me, a spooky darkgreen glow that could be a fire too below me and a single star far above me. This is me now?
