Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Meryll Dellmira's point of view

Our next instructor, Mr. Salvie brought us to the huge battle field. Great. If Irvene favors Alchemy then engaging in a combat is what I want.

"Students, each of your groups will have one representative and I'll randomly choose a group who will challenge the other," Mr. Salvie said. He explained the rules that we must follow and I'm sure everybody wanted to end his endless babble.

So much talking.

"So, Lianna's group, you're first," Mr. Salvie said.

Lianna's body turned around and took a glimpse at our group. I suddenly felt a strong sense of hatred towards that girl. Her clothing changed into a black and white robe and her left hand holds a wooden staff with a crystal emitting a dark, ominous aura.

Hmp! Exactly looked likes an evil witch.

Lianna stepped towards us and pointed her staff at our group particularly at Irvene. "I hereby challenge Irvene's group!" she shouted.

Lianna's ugly voice suddenly irritated my entire existence.

So.. this wicked witch knew Irvene's name and I don't like how she pointed her unsightly staff at Irvene.

"Then I'll be your opponent!" I said. I instantly changed into a black fitted clothes under a black coat that reached my knees. Both of my hands carries a dagger. My favorite silver daggers.

"Do your best," Vaughn said.

"Go, Meryll!" Sid cheered.

"Don't kill her!" Sid continued. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Don't hold back on her," Irvene whispered and smirked.

"Of course!" I said. That's how our interests collide.

I turned my attention to Lianna. We glared at each other and walked towards the opposite sides of the battle field.

"Start," Mr. Salvie uttered.

The wicked witch made a huge ball of fire and it travelled at a fast speed but I'm faster than her useless attack because an assasin's speed is uncomparable. I stopped my tracks when I reached her back and kicked her with great strength.

"Ah!" she reacted.

Her petite body was thrown at the side where I stood before my attack. She's on excrutiating pain.

Such a weak body. I didn't even started to use my daggers. Although that irritating girl suddenly left a trap on her previous position. She left some sharp-edged ice spikes on the ground. Probably a meter high but I immediately broke it with my daggers.

I would end this battle.

Lianna stood up and glared at me. "You'll regret this!" The witch said and started to chant a very long spell. I headed to her direction and pushed her away before she would cast a spell that I suppose is a strong one.

"You!" she said. Ice spikes started forming on her hands.

"Stop!" I heard Mr. Salvie shouted. Lianna's face showed confusion.

"You're already out of the line, Ms. Lianna. The winner is Ms. Meryll Dellmira," Mr. Salvie continued.

Hmp. She didn't even noticed that her foot stepped outside the line.

The wicked witch walked away with heavy footsteps on the battle field. Serves you right. I returned to our group's position.

"Nice one, I thought you'll kill her," Sid said.

"Why would I do that? I don't want my hands to become dirty because of her," I said.

The rest of our classmates continued the battle and our morning classes ended after that. I separated myself from Irvene, Vaughn and Sid.

The quite hallway of the west part welcomed me. This place is heavily guarded by a magic spell that no one could notice especially the students but this one couldn't escape from my sight. Although, I didn't notice it when I observed this place last time. Tsk.

I stopped taking steps when I saw a room. I felt a creepy aura inside that area.

"Help..help.."

The pleading voice of someone didn't stop. No, it looks like coming from two or more persons. What did they do to those people?

They're downright cruel!

I touched the door until a chain made of iron appeared from behind that restrained my hands from moving. Because of it's magic, I took longer than usual before I was able to release my hands.

"An intruder," a person from behind murmured.

I took out my small gun under my skirt and fired it out. His body collapsed on the floor. This gun's bullet couldn't kill a person, instead it has a pointed needle at the bullet and anyone that was pricked will fell in deep sleep. He won't even remembered what happened.

I left his body and tried to open the door's room, but it won't work.

"It looks like a certain strong spell is casted here." I whispered. Only a formidable mage can disspell this area.

"I'll be back soon," I said. I turned my body and left that place that reeks of evil.

I strolled down the north part of the school until I saw those three.

"Meryll, where did you go?" Sid asked.

"I'll tell you later," I said. I looked at them in utter seriousness to show that it's related to our secret mission.

When the afternoon classes ended, we left the school and went back to the castle. I don't know if I could endure the afternoon classes anymore. We only sat there for long hours, and studied again about subjects like history! We're literally repeating again about what we studied years ago.

After changing clothes, I walked towards Irvene's room. Her room has became our meeting place because it's safer there. A mage's room couldn't indeed be underestimated. Aside from the castle's layer of protection, she made it under her spells which I didn't know what particular spell she used.

I knocked three times and entered. They are all here. Even Elis, Ivy and Fluff.

"I summoned them because they might get involved into what we're doing and they'll have some knowledge when I summon them into one of our fights so.. I hope you don't mind," Irvene started.

We agreed to her because they might even be of greater help in the future. Who knows?

"I have one question," Sid asked. He even raised his left hand.

"Are Elis and Ivy's hair's not dyed? 'Cause as you could see, it looks incredibly natural!" he said.

Everyone fell silent because of Sid's questions. What's with him? I don't see any connections of it about our mission.

"Haha... It's natural," Elis answered.

I ended up shaking my head.

"Sid!" Irvene shouted.

"So.. I entered a hidden place on the west part of the school. When I observed the place yesterday, I didn't found anything. The place is surrounded with spells and I wasn't able to open the room," I said.

"It's not only the south part. They also have one in the west part, but the room I entered wasn't closed," Irvene said.

"It's either they have more important things to hide in the west room or they tighten their security," Vaughn said.

"We have to be careful because they have people guarding the rooms," I said.

"We'll observe the place the other day. For now, stop observing especially you, Meryll. It may turn out to be dangerous," Vaughn said.

"Ok, I'll follow."

After that, we went back to our own rooms and rested. I wonder what kind of cruel things that persons who reeks of evil had done to those people pleading for help. I would let them suffer twice!
