Chereads / A Girl Named Analis / Chapter 5 - The king

Chapter 5 - The king

"Mello, I assume you've come here to report an illness with the crown prince Ray? Is he not taking cold medicine again." Richard asked with a joking laugh.

"N-No your highness i am here to report a problem with... An- Analis." Mello said getting quieter as he said the princess's name.

"Oh... that child." The kings eyes went a little dim but he recovered quickly.

"Yes, the princess. She's gotten the avia disease. I just wanted to say I don't plan to help her with research." Mello said keeping his head low with fear.

"Im not sure what kind of disease that is but you don't need to help. Just go about your day like normal." The king said unaffected by the physician's words.

Mello felt a little sympathy for the princess when he saw the kings uninterested attention.

"I will return to the princess's palace. Although it will be a little lonely now that the servants are gone." Mello said seeing if anything related to her would catch his attention.

However, nothing did. The king picked up a page as soon as he said return and stopped listening.

Mello bowed and left the room. It seemed that Analis was the only one he gave the cold shoulder too.

...

A day passed by and analis was feeling uncomfortable with the pain in her foot. She had planned to meet the king but her dress was stained and looked very shabby.

Regardless, Analis put it on and left the room. She walked to the king's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" The king yelled.

Analis opened the door slowly. She took one step inside and immediately regret her decision.

The king's icy glare was terrifying. His eyes seemed to glow red with hate.

The king wasn't only glaring but also surprised. He hadn't seen Analis face to face since her mother died when she was 14. His glare was because she looked exactly like Veronica.

"Why are you here?" He asked. His voice seemed to wary of her.

"I came to offer a deal." She said. Her expressionless face and monotonous voice was exactly as the rumors explained.

The king put down his paper work and leaned back in his chair. His glare became even worse than before.

"You are just like your mother..." he said harshly.

In the book her mother had said these exact same words to him. Veronica guaranteed the throne to him with her family name. In return, she wanted to be far away from her father.

"I will leave the royal family and take on the gillion name. In return I want to travel the world and not have to worry about money. That is my only request. This is my demand." Analis said holding her head high.

"I just might accept this. As you know your brother is liked by the people but you have all the support of the nobles. If you withdraw and give your support to him, the nobles will follow."

"However, I cant let you leave till he turns 20. You'll have to wait till then. Even after that you'll have to stay a while after so how about you just leave on your 19th birthday." The king said holding his hand out.

Analis had on gloves but didn't want to accept this deal.

"Your highness you must rethink a closer time. I can-" analis said cut of by the door flinging open behind her.
