Chapter 3 - Destiny

Okay... so normally I don't get into crazy stuff. I mean the wildest thing I ever did was steal some candy as a kid. And that wasn't even my idea. It was Ty's. So what just happened tops anything I ever done in the crazy department by about a million. Then again... that's got to be the craziest thing anyone has ever done. Anyways, after teleporting I looked around my room like it was a foreign place. I had a bunch of posters on my wall with super heroes on them. I had my game and tv in one corner and my desk in the other with the door in the middle. There was a speaker on my dresser on the opposite side of where my bed was. It had my record player that my gramps gave to me on it. Yup... definitely my room. But I couldn't for the life of me understand what was going on. First the force field and now teleporting? This was way too much sci-fi for me. At least the voices and headache were gone. Once I started to stand up she backed away from me with wide eyes. She was breathing hard. "Stay away from me!" She said. Common sense would tell anyone that she's definitely afraid but for some reason I also knew she was afraid because I could feel it. This was something I never felt before so it kind of just hit me. I leaned against my dresser to catch myself. My room was super dirty and I had a girl standing in it. There were clothes scattered everywhere along with open pizza boxes and fast food rappers. Great first impression. I looked up at her. "Look I don't know what's going on okay? But we're at my house and I think..." I stopped mid sentence and looked at my favorite poster. It had Captain David on it. "I think we just teleported" I said. She looked around my room and then looked back at me. She stayed against the wall. "Look I'm not going to hurt you or anything. You can relax. I'm freaking out too." I said. She unclenched her fist and started to relax. "Wait.. how is that even possible? There's got to be some logical explanation. Teleporting doesn't exist." She said. I thought about the bus and realized that there's only one logical explanation... I probably have superpowers. "No you don't." She said. I looked up at her. "What?" "You don't have superpowers." She said. I scrunched my face up. "Wait... I never said that out loud." "Yeah you did. I heard you say it." She said. She just read my mind! I stood up and got an idea. I started talking in my head so I could see if she would do it again. "Look at me if you can hear me." I said. She turned towards me. "As you can see my mouth isn't moving and you're hearing me in my head." I said. She finally realized my mouth wasn't moving. She understood she was reading my mind. Her eyes widened and she grabbed her forehead. She looked down and back up as if she got an idea. She started talking in her head. "Holy shit! So wait... can you hear me in my head?" I smiled. I talked back to her in my head. "Yeah. I can." We were talking to each other... telepathically. She started talking out loud again. "Okay this is pretty cool." She said. I have to admit that it was pretty amazing. She started walking around the room asking questions. "Okay so why did you teleport? Why are we able to talk into each other's heads? And does this have anything to do with the bus?" She asked. "I don't know" I said. I guess it was time to come clean. "But, while we were teleporting I could hear everyone's thoughts. And also on the bus... I created some kind of force field." I said. She looked at me and thought about what I just said. "That's right. You did read my mind before we teleported... but wait, did you say you created a force field?" She asked. "Yeah. I did. On the bus." I said. She looked at my 3rd favorite hero Sharp Queen. "Would you believe me if I told you I made one too?" She asked. She turned around and looked at me. She gave me this concerned look. Something tells me we're closer than we think. "When?" I asked. "I did it right when the bus crashed. It just popped up in front of me. But just before it did I got this headache and this voice in my head that kind of sounded like... you." She said. We both looked at each other. That's when I realized... it was her voice. She's the girl I've been hearing in my head since as far back as I can remember. Whenever I'm angry or stressed it was her, right there, in my head. "Wait... you've always heard my voice in your head?" She asked. Oops. Forgot she could still read my mind. "Um... yeah. Whenever I got angry, or sad, or really felt any emotion I would hear you're voice." I said. She took a deep breath. "I could hear yours too" She said. This was no accident. We were meant to meet right here right now. Some sort of destiny. And I just couldn't figure out what this meant and why this was happening. But before I could finish that thought her phone rang. Forgot it was still in my hand. I handed it back to her and she answered. While she was on the phone I decided to go downstairs and see if my mom was home. She would normally be cooking breakfast and dancing around the kitchen. Lo and behold, there she was dancing in the refrigerator and cooking bacon. She had on her apron and there were earbuds in her ears. That meant dad wasn't up for work yet. I walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and pulled out her buds and gave me a surprised look. "What're you doing here sweetheart? You forget your backpack?" She asked. "Nah" I said. "I just came back because there was a bus crash." She looked me up and down. "Oh my god! Are you okay? Should I call an ambulance?" She asked. "No no no I'm fine I swear" I said. I went to the fridge and got some orange juice. I looked up at the clock. It read 8:30 A.M. I hope Ty is okay. "Well wait... how did you get home?" She asked. "Uh.... a cop that was on the scene dropped me off." I said. I couldn't tell her about the whole teleporting, mind reading, superpower thing... at least not yet. Not until I understood it. But she still knew something was up because she grabbed her hips and gave me that mom look. Luckily though before she could go all detective on me the girl came downstairs holding her phone in her hand. As she walked in the kitchen my mom and her exchanged looks. "Who is this?" My mom asked. I looked at my mom and then at her. "Oh this is... uhhh..." "Jocelyn!" She said. Joycelyn walked up to my mom and shook her hand. "My name's Jocelyn." She said. "Well Jocelyn it's nice to meet you. You can call me Mrs. Fray. Did you get dropped off with Jason?" She asked. Jocelyn looked at me and then at my mom. "Yes I did." She said. "So what's all this about a bus crash? What happened?" My mom asked. Jocelyn walked towards me. "Well I would love to explain Mrs. Fray but me and Jason have something really important to do at my house." She grabbed my hand and walked me towards the door. When she did something amazing happened. A miniature lightning bolt hit the ceiling as she touched me. My mom sort of yelped when it happened. "What was that?!" My mom asked. Luckily she didn't see where it came from. Jocelyn stopped and started talking to me in my head. "Jason we have to go. Apparently the planet is in trouble." "What're you talking about?" I asked. "I'll explain on the way" She said. We started heading to the door again. "Wait um... where are you guys going Jocelyn?" My mom asked. She was studying the small hole in the ceiling. "Well I need help moving some things for my mom and we could really use Jason's help. She offered to pay Jason so I hope it's okay." My mom looked at me and then Jocelyn. "I guess it's okay. Just be careful." She said. Jocelyn pulled me out the door and once we hit the sidewalk we started walking to her house. "Okay what're you talking about? What's going on?" I asked. She looked at me and then ahead again. I could feel that she was anxious and afraid. "This is much bigger than you can possibly imagine." She said. "How big?" I asked. "Like... fate of our planet big." I put my hands in my pocket and looked ahead. "What do you mean? That's not telling me anything." I said. She looked at me and then said something to me in her head. "Jason... you're my brother."
