Chapter 6 - Explanation

I just couldn't understand it. My life was confusing before all of this but now... it's kind of just gone off the rails. If I think about it... I'm in my mom's brain, with a girl who I just learned is my sister, and we're dealing with the fact that we have... super powers. Awesomely insane or insanely awesome? Either way I was just glad she was about to explain what was going on... because I'm extremely lost. My "mom" unzipped Jocelyn's mouth and allowed her to talk. Jocelyn then started firing off questions. "Mom this is awesome! How are you doing this? Were you always able to do this? What book were you talking about? Do you have powers like us? Did you know we had powers? Are you-" "JOCELYN!" she interrupted. "Please... I will explain everything if you give me the chance." Jocelyn then relaxed a little bit. "Okay. Go ahead," she said. Our mom then took a deep breath and started back talking about the Life Enforcers. "These beings are not even a part of our reality. They live in the Realm of Realms, a place at the edge of existence, and they guard all life. They are basically... gods," she said. She then looked up at the figures and changed the whole scene. We were now outside in the middle of the road in a desert. "Man, how are you doing that?" I asked. I was amazed. It was like being in a green screen room but seeing everything happen in real time. She looked at me and smiled. "We're in my head Jason... everything is under my control so anything is possible," she said. She looked up at the sky and continued talking. "The Life Enforcers exist not only to protect life... but to enforce it. The only problem is... they are not allowed to leave the Realm of Realms. If they left, it would mean the destruction of all life. The Realm of Realms serves a purpose not only to view and control life... but to hold the power of the Life Enforcers. They're extremely powerful. If they left their realm, their power would be unleashed... like a tornado raging across the universe in seconds, and there is nothing neither they or us could do about it," she said. "Well that sucks," Jocelyn said. My mom then turned around and smiled at us. "Yes, but that's where you guys come in." she said. Me and Jocelyn looked at each other confused. "Us?" I asked. Our mom walked up to us and put her hand on our shoulders. "Yep," she said. She walked past us and as we turned around we saw a car coming from far in the distance. "You two are the connection to them. You're their tools that allow them to reach earth without them having to be here. Every being is born with about 25% of Life Force. "Life Force? What is that?" I asked. "It's a type of energy that allows you to walk, talk, breathe, and basically live. Rare few are like me. Born with about 35% of Life Force. It allows me to do this... what you're seeing. And then there are those that are born with 50% of Life Force. They are what we call... linked." The car was really close now. A few more blocks and it was going to hit us. "They are linked because they are connected to someone else who also has 50% Life Force and they share the energy between each other. They share it because if they didn't their brains would be fried from all that energy. It allows them basic enhancements... things like mind reading, light telekinesis, and small electric bolts." "Small? You sure you don't mean huge?" Jocelyn asked. "Yeah." I said. "We freaking put a hole in the wall with a lightning bolt." My mom then stared at us trying to hold back a laugh. "Yeah see... you two are different. Normally the linked are sort of chosen at random. One person could be linked to someone else from halfway across the world or right across the street. But in your case..." "We're different since we're directly related... right?" I asked. My mom shook her head up and down. "Bingo." She said. The car then drove up and stopped in front of us. "What is this?" Jocelyn asked. She ignored the question. "You two were born with 100% of Life Force... each. This happened because you're brother and sister... but at the same time you were also linked. This has never happened before, and it's what makes you the most powerful of all." As she said that the car doors opened up... and out stepped... us. Me and Jocelyn. We couldn't understand what was happening. We just sat there and watched, amazed that it was clones of us. They walked past us looking into the sky as if they were looking for something. And then... I saw it. It was a massive meteor heading right to us. "Mom..." Jocelyn said. She ignored her and kept talking. "The planet needs you. You're our first line of defense in case something major happens... like a meteor heading towards the planet." The meteor started getting closer and closer. Sirens started going off in the distance. "Wait... is a meteor coming?!" Jocelyn asked. My mom shook her head. "No... but something just as dangerous is. And that's why everything is happening as it is. Your powers being discovered, you two finding each other, and even coming to me." The sirens started to get louder and the wind started blowing even harder. The sky started to change from blue to orange. The meteor was about to hit us. That's when I thought about it for a sec. I then realized it's exactly what I said earlier... a destiny. "Yeah Jason.. it is a destiny. It's yours. Both of you. Today is the day earth will need you two to fight for it." She said. She read my mind. "I don't understand... why are you just now dropping this on us like a bomb shell?!" I asked. "Exactly. We could have prepared or something if we would have known earlier!" Jocelyn yelled. She was yelling because the meteor was about to hit and the sirens were too loud to comprehend anything. My mother looked down as wind blew her hair everywhere. She then looked up and gave a saddened look. "Kids... this... this wasn't my idea. I just had to go along with it. I was told this needed to unfold this way, and that there was no other way. Jason... I never wanted to give you up... but they said it was the only way earth would survive. So we had to stick to the plan." "Wait... We? Who is we?" I asked. She looked at me. "Your father." She said. That's when Jocelyn yelled my name. I turned and looked and saw the meteor taking up the whole sky. It was about to hit earth. Our clones raised their hands to use their powers just as the meteor touched the atmosphere and the ground and that's when... I seen a flash of white.
