Chapter 25 - Settling Down

Seeing the boy's sincerity James couldn't help but chuckle a bit to himself while telling him, "It's only natural Sagar we're family after all, you have no reason to thank me for this."

Sagar himself responded back in a somewhat awkward manner, "Well I just felt like thanking you anyway. My mom has told me that you've looked after her a lot and also praised your character."

James decided to help out the boy out of his predicament by changing the conversation, "From what Beatrice mentioned in the letter she said that you were a mage but looking at you, you don't appear to be one."

Sagar was a rather tall for his age being only a head shorter than James himself while being slightly taller than Beatrice. James could also tell that his body was well built even if his clothes didn't show so, his body was that of a warrior not a mage. Not to mention that James felt almost not mana leaking from the boy but the weirder thing was he couldn't sense any internal energy either, so he guessed that his mana was on the weaker side and Sagar trained his body to make up for it.

Beatrice's voice rang out behind, "You would be right about your assumptions in other cases but my son here is not that simple."

Like it was rehearsed by them Sagar started to release his mana from within himself. Usually because of his elemental fusion it was hard to tell if he even had mana with all the almighty infused internal energy covering his core but he could actively release it out if he wanted too.

Everyone in the room were slightly shocked at the fact that the power he released just now almost reached the levels of an Expert but that's all it was just slightly. They had seen some of the prodigies from other families about his age already at the Expert level, they even had one themselves but to say they were unimpressed would be lying.

They didn't know where Beatrice went for the past few years but they knew that she didn't have anything besides money when she did leave. She didn't take any resources to help train someone with her and they doubted that she could get any where she was at, so for her son to reach this level on his own was truly praiseworthy.

James feeling his mana clapped his hands in rejoice, "Excellent, your mother said that you always trained dutifully so I held some expectations but you surpassed them my boy. Now Beatrice mentioned that you planned to join Skoll Academy. Are you sure about this? I'm sure that Beatrice has mentioned their tough entry standards."

Sagar nodded his head and told him confidently, "I'm more than capable to enter the academy, the entry standards won't be hard to meet."

James gave him a hearty smile dying down the conversation, "You look confident enough I hope you do well. Now next I would like to know what magic you're going to be specializing in if you don't mind sharing."

Without delay Sagar responded, "The explosion element."

Not reacting too surprised James said, "I knew you would say that, I just wanted to be sure. You know explosion is an incredibly violent element even above lightning so usually the Drak's have a tough time using it, but you on the other hand have a body of a warrior so I'm curious on what you could do with it."

Curious about it Sagar asked, "Have there not been other members that trained their bodies as well to handle the element?"

"Of course there have but each one used the element differently, for example my grandfather developed some martial arts so that he could use the element in tandem with his strikes. It all depends on the person and since you're such a case you could find some books in our library that were left behind by others of your standards. As for your great-grandfather well he's not currently here otherwise he would probably pick you up to teach you directly. When he does return I'll tell him of you he'll be excited to be able to pass down his techniques while he's still alive."

James turning to look at all the elders still here he told them, "We'll pick up the rest of this meeting later, I'm going to take them to where they'll be staying so I'll be busy for a while."

All the elders nodded and began to get up an leave until only the family and James were left in the room. Before they could start moving though James went to go sit back down and gestured them to do the same.

When they sat down James said, "We could relax here a bit before I take you all to your living quarters, does that sound good?"

Neither Sagar or Beatrice had any complaints about it so they agreed. For the next two hours they spent their time talking, it was mostly between Beatrice and James with Sagar chiming in every now and then. It was mostly Beatrice going over her time in Mountain Village along with talking about Garris whenever he was brought up. It seemed that James hardly knew Garris from the looks of things maybe he didn't know about their relationship until she left or they just never got the time to meet.

What Sagar was curious about was why they never brought up his mother's parents. His mother never mentioned them to him and there was not a word uttered about them from James. He felt like this wasn't the time or place to ask right now so he'll just put it to the back of his mind for later.

Eventually James did take them to their rooms which were located in the current building they were in it was just on an upper floor. Their rooms were right next to each other so it Sagar needed to see his mother or Aquilia it wouldn't be too hard. All there stuff was there as well and was already unpacked as well as put away, which Sagar was sort of sad about as he would be leaving in a couple of weeks so he didn't look forward to packing all his belongings again.

As they were starting to get settled down Aquilia woke up and James got to see how she usually was when she was awake. A rowdy and loud child. He even commented that he could finally confirm that Aquilia was just like Beatrice when she was a baby.

After everything was settled Sagar went to his room while James left to continue the meeting from earlier. Laying on the big bed in the room that had enough room for two people to almost completely spread their bodies out, Sagar looked at the ceiling contemplating what he was going to do for the next few weeks until he left.
