Chapter 28 - Setting Off

After Sagar had this discussion with Bella a week had passed and it was time for him to go to Skoll Academy along with Talia. Talia usually sought him ought whenever she could to talk with him along with getting to know each other better. They were relatively comfortable with each other's presence by now but this was mostly from Sagar as Talia was already used to such things.

As far as Sagar's training goes it had been a while since he checked out his stats so he decided to check them out now. His strength was at 31, with his magic at 29, his agility at 25, and his vitality at 34. He felt that if it was just concerning his strength and vitality he was already at the level of an Expert and his magic wasn't too far off from that level either.

It seemed his agility grew the most but that was probably it experiencing a sort of unnatural growth due to his other stats being higher than it along with the rise of his power as well. He wasn't sure if training in the 'Explosive Maneuver' technique would help raise it but he figured that how well he could use the technique would be based not only on his own mastery but how high his agility as well. Of course that's the only thing agility covered so it was nice to not have it too low otherwise it could be a problem in the future.

During this week he had also tried bringing up the topic of his grandparents to his mother but she didn't look like she didn't want to really talk about it. Sagar didn't want to force his mother into telling him if she didn't want to so he would just wait. He could ask other people in the family but he felt like it was better to adhere Bella's advice and just hear it from his mother.

It wasn't like he would die or something if he didn't hear about anyway, he mainly just wanted to know about seeing how it was never brought up before. He would just patiently wait until his mother felt like telling him.

Garris was still not in town so he couldn't see Sagar off when he went to the academy but he would be back in another week and would meet up with his mother and Aquila while he was here. Sagar wasn't sure what his father's plans would be at that time considering that with his mother being a pseudo elder took care of any financial problems they could possibly have, he didn't really have a need to be a mercenary anymore. Sagar hadn't heard anything about it but it's possible that his father had already discussed such a thing with his mother and they had already come to a decision.

Talia and him were leaving in one of the automatic carriages like the one that picked his family and him when they lived in Mountain village. Sagar had put all his packed stuff into the carriage along with Talia doing the same as well, she just had more stuff to take with her though.

Technically it wasn't set in stone that they would even get accepted into the academy so it would be seen as foolish to bring their stuff along, but both Talia and Sagar were confident in passing the said requirements of the academy so they took their stuff along to save them the trip.

Before they got in the carriage while everyone was waving them off James approached the two of them and gave them cloaks of some kind. He told them that they were something you wear with the school uniform showing what family you from. Of course usually only nobles wore these sorts of things but commoners could as well just maybe without the family crest on it.

The family crest of the Drak family was a sort of three headed dragon having horns on top of their heads with other spikes protruding out of it's body and breathing out flames. Sagar thought it was an interesting design and didn't mind the look of it so he would probably wear it whenever he got his uniform.

Both of them said thank you to James and entered the carriage to begin their journey. The actual Academy was only a days distance away from Verreaux so it wouldn't take that long to arrive. This was mainly if you were going by automatic carriage as a normal carriage would probably take a bit more time to arrive not to mention walking over there.

From what he's read the academy was as well fortified as the capital is, you could even say it's better as the space that the academy covers is a lot less than that of the capital. As for the entry requirement for the academy, besides the age requirement, there were three of them. You had to take a knowledge test, a power test, and a battle test. Each test was important and you had to get a minimum amount of points in each of them to pass them. Of course there was still a bias in these tests that mainly stem from the battle test. If you do really well in the battle test you would be able to earn bonus points and put them to one of your past tests, but that's where the bias ends. You still had to get the minimum points required for each test and even if you did really well in the battle test but you didn't have the points required for the other tests then you don't get to enter.

The only one that Sagar had worries about was the power test as the testers would try to get to know what level of power you're at. Sagar wasn't sure how they were going to conduct it but if it came down to it he would just show them himself as he had done whenever James was wondering about his power.

As they were leaving the walls of Verreaux Sagar decided to try to feel out where his demons were. He actually didn't retrieve them when they entered the city and just let them wonder outside the wall so that they could get stronger. He could only feel that not only had they gotten stronger, they had evolved as well but he couldn't tell what they evolved into until he met them in person so he would just wait a while before he would find some excuse to stop the carriage and meet them.
