In the morning Sagar got up and went to go eat breakfast that the inn provided. He wasn't going to only eat as he would wait for Talia to get up as well so that they could leave together. He was just getting down eating when she finally made her way down and she quickly ordered and ate as well, then the two of them made their way over to the academy.
When they were all finished with their tests they would go get the coach to bring the carriage to the academy so that they could unload all their stuff and he could make his way back to Verreaux.
Getting closer to the walls of the academy they noticed that an opening usually covered by a gate was open. Sagar would say that they arrived pretty early but even so there were still a good amount of people here. Some were like Talia and him alone but there were also those who either showed up with family members or in the case of those who's family was powerful bodyguards.
Unlike Talia's and his or anybody who came from Verreaux, other people's journeys might have been long along with being dangerous as well. The Drak family or more specifically James knew that the road to the academy wasn't that dangerous so he didn't assign any sort of protection for the two children. This was normally still foolish as who knows what kind of unseen event might happen even on a journey so short but it wasn't really if you knew that the automatic carriage they were riding wasn't just an automatic carriage.
It was actually fitted with some safety precaution that would activate almost on it's own when an opponent of a certain level attacked it. Anything that Talia or Sagar could handle would not cause it to activate but once someone of say the Saint level attacked it then it would activate a sort of barrier protecting the carriage from said foes attacks. You could also move the carriage still but that depends on whether you want to wear out the energy stores within it more as the barrier would use it to block the attacks and would deplete depending on the level of the attack. Back at the family residence they would be notified of the attack and would send help promptly and in this case if they were attacked it would probably be one of the elders or James himself.
Anyway since there was already a wait to enter the academy to take the tests Talia and him stood in the ever increasing line. They were only waiting for a few minutes before Talia became a bit bored and started talking to Sagar.
"Hey, can I ask something?", she spoke with a hint of curiousness.
"Sure, but why you asking in such a polite manner?", Sagar responded lightly.
"Well, I'm just a bit nervous is all. I know that'll I'll do fine and pass the tests that they give us but it doesn't seem like my body wants to cooperate. Besides that what I wanted to ask was about the saber you're carrying. I heard from grandpa that you have a strong body and all but you're a mage so shouldn't you use something more suitable."
Hearing ask about it Sagar realized that this is probably the only instance that he's carried it on him since they moved into the Drak family residence. She was probably was wanting to ask him on the way here but decided she could wait and ask about it later.
"Let me answer with another question. Doesn't great-grandpa use his entire body as a weapon when he fights? That doesn't seem very mage like right? You also have to consider one of the main weaknesses of a mage is that in close range they would falter under a warrior's might. Of course that isn't always the case but one that happens when the two fighting are inexperienced or maybe just the mage. Point is with this weapon I could at least somewhat defend myself in close quarters combat along with the techniques I've learned from the family I'm pretty much set.", Sagar gave a sort of long winded explanation but Talia still had a question.
"But wouldn't that be pointless because as soon as you cross blades with a warrior his strength alone would overwhelm you. Even if you have a stronger body than other mages that doesn't mean that you'll be able to match a regular warrior."
"You would be right in most cases but you could make up for that by incorporating your magic with your weapon or form of attack, again like great-grandpa doesn't he use the explosive element with his attacks giving them great power.", truthfully Sagar didn't really need to do this as he could also use internal energy but this allows him to cover up that fact at least.
Pouting slightly Talia finished off the conversation by commenting under her breath, "Yeah, but he also has mana enhancement."
She didn't bothering trying to reinforce the response to Sagar as she felt that he would go off on another explanation when she already got the meaning of what he was saying. He carried the saber to make up for his weakness and that's about it. Talia guessed that he must at least be somewhat good at using the weapon if he would trust himself enough to use it.
Eventually they started to talk about other topics trying to pass the time. About an hour later they had finally made their way inside the academy's walls to go to the location of their first test which was the knowledge test. It was also there that they would fill out a sheet with some basic information about themselves so that the other testers could have something to go off of later.
Talia and Sagar came a building that had some columns in front of his reminding Sagar of court houses in a way. This is where the majority of the knowledge tests would take place as there were other locations but as this location became full others taking this test would have to be moved else where.
Making their way inside both of the were greeted by only a giant open room with desks and chairs covering everywhere they could see. They could see other kids sitting pretty much wherever so they figured they could do the same. On each of the desks were a form along with a writing utensil so they could fill it out.
Filling out the forms both of them waited for the start of the tests.
