Chapter 1 - One lovely evening

Gold is having a conversation with her coworkers in a nearby cafe. She got up to grab some milk when she saw someone familiar.

She can't believe her eyes. The guy she swore she'd never speak of again is standing right in front of her. Her first love, Cale. The only person who has the power to break her heart. The person who abandoned her for no apparent reason.

"Hi, Gold, it's been a long time since I last saw you."

She was taken aback for a moment, but she managed to respond. "Yeah, it's been a long time," she can no longer say another word. He simply gave her a smile. "I'm going; it's nice to see you after all these years; see you again," he said as he turned away and walked straight to the counter.

Gold had no idea how she reacted. She even tries to recall her reaction and how she speaks. "Did I look stupid or what? Shoot, I better go" She decided to say goodbye to her colleagues and make some excuses.

She grabbed her stuff and rushed to the door. Walking quickly, as if someone is after her. Eventually, she's not fast enough.

Cale tapped her on the shoulder. "Are you going somewhere?" she flinched and stopped.

Gold slowly turned to face him, giving him her best smile, and laughed. "You scared me to death," she said, forcing herself to act normal. "I have a lot of work to do today, so I'm going back to my office," she explained (why am I telling him this? I sound crazy.) She thought to herself.

"Oh, I thought you weren't busy; I was about to ask you to grab some lunch and talk about things."

She smirked. (Talk about what?! He is so annoying... After leaving me for no reason, he showed up and wanted to talk about things!) Gold tried to smile after a long silence. She gently taps his shoulder. "It's nice seeing you, Cale, but I'm afraid I'm too busy to talk to you about some things. Bye," she quickly turned her back and walked straight to her office.

"Finally, some quiet time alone," she said as she sat in her chair and turned on her computer.

Gold has two accounts on her laptop. One is for her job, while the other is for her personal life. She never opened her private account after the breakup as it was filled with photos of Cale and memories of their past relationship. Cale and Gold had known each other since college, but they were never close. Gold is a varsity player and one of the outstanding marketing students in the school.

She began to use Facebook. (Adding acquaintances, professors, family friends, her own family, and schoolmates to her list of friends.)

Cale received a notification. He accepted her request right away and immediately sent a message to Gold.

"You look familiar," Cale says, as Gold remembers him. "Yeah, I recognize you. You are the famous Cale. Thanks for accepting my friend request."

Cale thinks her response is too formal. He felt interested and decided to continue chatting with her. He also needs someone to talk to at the moment, after getting his heartbroken. Gold felt at ease with him, and the two became so close that they began arranging a night out together.

Cale set the date: Friday night, 8 pm at Rue Bourbon.- Gold loves the idea. They both look forward to it.

Cale arrived at 8 p.m. on Friday. He's the kind of person that hates being late. Gold spotted him typing on his phone. "Drop it; I'm already here!" She interrupted him before he could send another message to her. Gold laughed.

Cale stares at her for a while before reacting. "You're sneaky," they both laughed.

"What are you having? I'm going to try the Caramel Beer." Cale glanced at the menu for a moment. "I'll have the same."

They drink and talk for hours. Laughing, telling jokes, and sharing stories. "How come I didn't notice you at school?" Cale asked.

Gold already knew the answer. "Well, I'm not popular like you," she exclaimed and laughed really hard.

Cale put his arms around her. "I like you, You're kind of not normal." Gold quickly faces him for insulting her, but she doesn't realize he is so near that their lips are almost touching. Words got stuck in her throat.

She locked her gaze on Cale's eyes. "I'm so normal," she finally managed to say. Gold stood up and yanked his arm away from her. "I'll be back," she said as she headed to the loo, unaware that she had distracted Cale.

Cale settled the bill before she returned. "Gold, let's go see the dancing fountain," Cale said, taking her hand in his and leading her there.

The fountain show began. Gold's eyes sparkle with amusement as she watches the water dance.

The music perfectly complements the dancing water. "It's wonderful; I like how the water dances and the light matches it; I love how the music." Cale couldn't hear her because it was quite loud out there. "What?" Cale asked. Gold didn't hear him. So, he asks again. "What did you say?" Gold turns to face him, intending to whisper something to him, but they wind up facing one another too close, their lips almost touched once again.

Cale makes an unexpected move and kisses her as the music and lighting shift the mood. The fireworks were launched at the same time. Making the moment more than just romantic. Gold was taken aback, but she closed her eyes because she felt love in it.
