Spacing out. Gold suddenly opened her private account. Seeing all the memories she and Cale shared. She opened the folder and browse the photos. Enough to flashback all the happy and painful memories, they've shared. Gold snapped out of it and shut down her Laptop. Her phone rang all of a sudden. "Hi, Jake" she answered. "Hey Gold! Can I talk to you? I have a little favor to ask you. " Jake Hudd. The Head of IT department. "Yeah sure, what is it?"
"I'm supposed to interview someone this coming Monday but I'm kinda caught up in a big issue here, I don't think I can make it." Gold understands clearly. "Alright, I'll do it for you. Do you have any additional favor?" Jake laughs on the other line "Well, Just don't hire him if you don't want to. He already passed the Hr interview but he still needs to go through me. I'm leaving the decision to you. You have a good taste with people anyway." Gold laughed "Sure thing, That would be easy then, I'll update you after the interview" Jake agreed. "Great! thanks, Gold. bye"
Time to go home. "Goodbye, everyone! Happy weekend." Gold rushes to the door. She's pretty tired. She plans to rest for the weekend for real.
Gold got into a cab.
On her way home, a restaurant caught her eyes. It's new and pleasant to have dinner. She asks the cab driver to drop her there immediately. ( I need this good ambiance tonight ) She thought.
She chose the corner part of the restaurant. The menu was given to her immediately. She took a glance at the menu and saw her favorite dish. "Excuse me?" she called for attention. A man with a lovely suit came over. Clearly, not a waiter-looking guy. She stares at him for a while. "How may I help you?"
"I'm having foie gras and Salisbury steak with mashed potato on the side. A glass of wine and a mocha dacquoise cake." The man repeated the order and ask. "Is that all? Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you so much" She nodded and smiled at him.
She glanced at the whole restaurant and the people enjoying their meal. All of a sudden she saw Cale with his ex-girlfriend. Vara Deand. She was dumbfounded. (What is he doing here with her?) She felt pain in her chest and her eyes felt like crying. She's still not over him and it kills her to see him with her.
She stood up without thinking and lost her balance. The guy who took her order. Grab her in the arm. "Are you alright?"
She's about to cry. "I'm sorry, I'm.." She glances once more in Cale and Vara's direction. The man saw the pain in her eyes. He held her tight and ask her to come with him. He took her to the VIP room and ask someone to get her a glass of water. "Take care of my guest order." He said to one of the crew.
The VIP room looks really nice. A private room where you can see a perfect view of the city from the glass wall. "Hi, I'm Kilk Toupe. I own this restaurant. I hope this view takes your sadness away." she stares at him. "You own this restaurant? I thought so. I find it weird that you took my order. You don't look like a waiter to me." Kilk was amused. She look sad a while ago as if she was about to cry but now she talks too much.
Gold dinner arrived and was served. "Did something bother you a while ago?" She looks at her food. "You should join me. I owe you big time." He thinks it's nice to join her and did not hesitate. He asks his employees to get him his favorite dish and a bottle of wine. "I really hope you like the view." she is staring at it the whole time.
"It's wonderful enough to take the pain in my chest away." Kilk stares at her.
"I saw my ex with his ex-girlfriend at the corner of your restaurant. That guy left me all of a sudden 2 years ago with no explanation or any reason at all. You're a lifesaver. I almost fainted." she couldn't stop herself from telling the truth. She needs to let it out at once.
"You must have loved this guy that much to feel that way. You don't deserve him at all" They both have a nice chat about it. Gold has never talked about this matter. She felt relieved for the first time. "Men, that feels good. I've kept it all to myself for a very long time. I think I better go. Thank you so much! I've wasted your time with my bubbling. This is on me." she took her Master card out. Kilk smiled. "No, This is on me. Let me give you a ride home." she refused. "No, No. You don't have to. I caused you enough trouble already" but he insisted.
Kilk drove her home. Gold has a car that she seldom uses. She hates driving.
"Thank you Mr. Kilk. How may I return the favor? I still owe you." Kilk enjoyed spending that little time with her. For a very busy person like him. Having someone to talk to that does not involve business is a dime.
"Well, you can take me somewhere fun next time. Here's my Business Card. No need to thank me at all. Sleep tight tonight." Gold gave her a business card as well. He drove off after waving to her.
Gold stares at her bedroom ceiling. She remembers the look on Cale's face. Pain struck her deep in the chest. Seeing Cale with Vara is a nightmare to gold.
"I thought I have already moved on but seeing him again and feeling this way proves that I'm not over him yet"
