Wow, this guy is good. He saw through their charade as soon as they entered the room while the whole company believed it in a heartbeat.
"We're so used to showing our love for each other behind closed doors its kind of awkward showing it in front of strangers" Ha Eun said. Chang Wook knew that the man didn't believe them, yet Ha Eun still tried to convince him.
"If you love each other so much, lets do a little test, shall we?" the lawyer asked. Ha Eun looked at the lawyer perplexed. He got her to get up and go to the other side of the room and write down answers to some simple questions, like what she's afraid of, her allergies and if she has any markings on her body. She was confused but did as she was told.
Both of them sat back down and he asked Chang Wook "Young man, what is your fiancee allergic to?" Ha Eun saw her career shatter right in front of her. There's no way her assistant would know something personal of her's. What if a reporter or someone from the board asked a question like that? She'll be done for.
"Shellfish" Chang Wook answered without a second thought. Ha Eun was surprised, but more than that, she was impressed. How could her assistant know something like that? They've never gone out to eat together. While Ha Eun was complimenting him inside her head he just had to add "And human emotions"
The lawyer was taken aback by what he heard, Ha Eun on the other hand got angry and took back the nice things she thought about him "Haha!" she said "You're so funny, sweetheart. He loves to joke around!"
The lawyer looked at her then back at Chang Wook.
"How about any markings? Only intimate couples would know this" the lawyer asks Chang Wook, one more time. Ha Eun couldn't help but feel sweat go down her back. The lawyer had no right to ask something like that! But then again, she didn't say anything back then when he made her write down simple answers. It will raise suspicions if she just jumped in and said anything. But again, without a second thought Chang Wook answered.
"She has a tattoo, if that's what you mean" Ha Eun tried to hide her shocked expression.
"By your reaction to my statement about you two needing signatures Miss Lee, you seemed quite shocked. Have neither of you told your parents yet?" the lawyer asked. Ha Eun felt she was being interrogated for the murder of someone. Chang Wook felt like Ha Eun was slowly murdering him though, so her feelings weren't that far off.
"Mine are dead" she said with a chuckle. The lawyer did a slight chuckle as well. Chang Wook was surprised by her answer. He didn't know she didn't have any parents, he always thought the Chairman was her father, but it looks like he's her grandfather?
"What about your's?" he looked at Chang Wook.
"No, they are alive" Chang Wook answered.
"We are going to tell them, this weekend. During his mother's birthday" Ha Eun said with a happy expression.
Chang Wook slowly turned his head towards her. As a powerful CEO he thought she'd find a way to get signatures and leave his parents out of this but now she just invited herself to his mother's birthday party. The one that she specifically stopped him from going to. She didn't say it to him directly, but her silence says more than the actual words coming from her mouth.
"Is that right?" the lawyer asked.
"Yeah, they live at..." Ha Eun chuckled awkwardly. She never expected she'd get caught in her own lie. She looked at Chang Wook "Honey, why are you so quiet over there? They're your parents, why don't you tell him where they live?" she reached her hand out towards him and placed it on his lap. Not only did Chang Wook feel extremely uncomfortable, every time he heard Ha Eun call him honey, his urge to throw up got even bigger.
He forced a chuckle "Jeju"
Ha Eun smiled, but when she heard those words it made her question where that was exactly. Jeju, she's heard that before...She widened her eyes and looked at Chang Wook "Isla...?" before Ha Eun could ask she caught herself and said "Island!" with an excited tone "Jeju Island"
She's never gone to Jeju Island. She's never gone anywhere near there. She's always lived and studied in metropolitan areas. What the hell was she going to do on an Island? She looked at the lawyer, he was staring at her as if he caught her lying. She was lying through her teeth, but she wasn't going to let his gaze get the best of her.
The lawyer sighed, got up from his seat and walked the two back outside "Marriage is a commitment, its not something that should be taken lightly" the lawyer said to them "Some people spend their whole lives looking for the right one..." he paused seeing as how his words weren't getting to Ha Eun. With a sigh he tells them "If you really want to get married come back here with those signatures" He went back into his office and that was it.
Once they were outside both of them were startled when they saw the Chairman, right in front of them.
