Chang Wook and Ha Eun chuckle awkwardly. If they refuse straightforwardly everyone would look at them skeptically. Chang Wook already lied to his parents, them finding out right after his lie, that he and Ha Eun really aren't anything will be an interesting talk that he doesn't want to have.
Chang Wook couldn't help but look towards Mi Jin's direction. She didn't look like she was having fun at all, she looked awkward and the moment she and Chang Wook made eye contact she quickly left the room.
Chang Wook felt his heart stop for a moment. Why was this bothering him so much? Ha Eun got in front of him "Chang Wook…you okay?" she asked him. She turned her head and saw the figure of a girl in a summer dress leaving the room.
She didn't know what she felt but she was showing it because at that moment someone yelled "Look, Ha Eun is blushing!"
"They're so embarrassed, that's so cute!"
Ha Eun couldn't put her finger on what she was feeling but she first needed to come up with a way of getting out of this situation. As she was coming up with reasons to not do the…the kiss…Chang Wook grabbed Ha Eun's hand. She looked at him surprised wondering what he was planning on doing.
Chang Wook looked at Ha Eun. He felt he was in an awkward position but looked to Ha Eun to see any signs of her agreeing or disagreeing to what he was about to do, but all he saw was confusion in her eyes. He didn't want to force something on her she didn't want to do but desperate measures called for desperate solutions.
"Ha Eun" Chang Wook said. She didn't know what expression to make. This was the first time he used her name and there wasn't any type of argument ensuing. Was he really going to…to kiss her? She was worried about what would happen after if he indeed kissed her.
Chang Wook slowly moved his hands up to her shoulders and slowly lowered them to her waist as he gradually pulled her towards him. He was staring directly at her lips. They had to make this look believable, if it looked awkward everyone would start wondering if they ever truly kissed. He noticed how Ha Eun had her lips slightly parted. They were so pink and looked so soft. As he looked up to her eyes, they looked like they belonged to a completely different person, not his boss.
She felt she was seeing a new side of him, for the first time she thought he was manly.
He started to lean in "Ha Eun" he whispered her name one more time. She could feel all the hairs on her arms stand up. She knew what was coming, but she didn't know why she hadn't talked yet. Did she actually want him to kiss her?
"Get ahold of yourself!" Ha Eun yelled at herself. When he was just a few inches away Ha Eun moved her head to the side and fell into his embrace.
For a second it felt like she belonged there. Her arms completely wrapped around him and he felt so soft and smelled like soap.
Chang Wook on the other hand didn't know what had just happened. He was about to kiss her but now he was hugging her. For a second though, he thought it felt nice. Her head reached his neck so in this position he could rest his head on her's. And his arms wrapped around her so easily. She was so small, felt very soft. Not to mention she smelled like apples. His favorite fruit. He wondered for a second what it would be like if he actually did date Ha Eun.
"Awww!" people around them started to make sounds of endearment. He and Ha Eun separated. Ha Eun's plan worked. She's seen how in dramas, sometimes a hug is more romantic than a kiss. Everyone had smiles on their faces, they had completely forgotten they wanted a kiss. Ha Eun was glad the plan worked but she had little faith in it, so she was relived.
"You guys must really love each other" Han Soo said. Everyone looked back at Chang Wook's father. Chang Wook and Ha Eun looked at each other, but they couldn't keep eye contact for more than two seconds. They always ended up looking somewhere else, embarrassed.
"What is wrong with me?" Ha Eun asked herself.
"What just happened?" Chang Wook asked himself.
He looked towards the window and saw Mi Jin looking out at the ocean.
"Well everyone; the show's over but let's keep the party going!" he said happily. Everyone agreed and they turned up the music. He walked away. Ha Eun looked out the window to see what got his attention so badly that made him leave her there with strangers that were now getting all friendly trying to talk to her.
She saw Mi Jin "I guess they aren't just friends" she thought to herself.
"So, daughter-in-law. Tell us what attracted you to our Wookie?" Do Mi was so ecstatic. She was finally able to call someone her daughter-in-law and better yet, her daughter-in-law was such a capable young woman, being his boss and everything.
"He…he is such a hardworking individual. In all my years with the company I have never seen anyone work as hard as him. I guess that's one of the things that attracted me to him in the first place" Ha Eun said, there was a little truth behind it, she did see how hard he worked but she was never attracted to him in that way.
Do Mi smiled, at first, she thought Ha Eun was strange and a bit mean for keeping her son away from home for so many years but seeing that hug made her think that there was more to Ha Eun than met the eye. She was indeed a kind girl.
Soo Ryun thought the same thing, she thought Ha Eun was a bit odd, who would come all the way to the country side in a dress that costs more than a house and heels that cost more than someone's monthly paycheck? But there was definitely something there that only Chang Wook could see. Ha Eun only ever let down her walls when she was with Chang Wook, and they all saw that happen right in front of there eyes. Though Han Soo didn't see anything. He was too preoccupied thinking about ways to get his son to come back home and take over his position than look and feel the love that was emanating from his son and his fiancée.
Sadly, what everyone thought they saw and felt was complete and utter bullshit. Ha Eun and Chang Wook felt completely uncomfortable, and they wanted to be as far away from each other but maybe, just maybe, everyone saw something that these two have yet to see.
