Once they arrive at the house Ha Eun looks in through the window and sees a lot of people inside. There were people dressed as servers walking around with food and drinks.
"Are you guys throwing a party?" Ha Eun asks them. Chang Wook looks inside and groans in frustration.
"Mom, you didn't!" he says to his mother. Do Mi chuckles.
"Its just a few friends. They all wanted to welcome you back home" Do Mi said. Chang Wook didn't see that as a few friends. Most of the people in there were his parents friends or his father's business partners. In his childhood he hardly had any friends.
Ha Eun though seemed impressed. The people in there really did seem happy and excited to be there, not like the birthday parties that were thrown for her. It was mostly obligatory to attend and the only people that did attend where business partners and families that wanted to unite with the Oh family. No one was ever really there because they wanted to congratulate her for becoming a year older, no one was really there because they were excited that she was born.
Once inside everyone greeted Chang Wook, completely ignoring Ha Eun.
"You're back!"
"How have you been?"
"You've gained weight"
"You've grown"
"You must be breaking hearts over there in Seoul"
Ha Eun saw those as words from people that cared about him, while Chang Wook found those as words coming from nosy people.
"Hi. I'm back. Its so good to see you all again!" Chang Wook said as he walked past everyone.
Chang Wook and Ha Eun manage to get away from Do Mi and Soo Ryun.
"This is the hardest thing we'll be doing" Chang Wook whispered to Ha Eun "People are going to be asking questions about us and our relationship"
"That's easy, just tell the truth" Ha Eun said "And if they ask if we're dating, we say we're engaged" It wasn't that hard, she found it annoying how Chang Wook was stressing about it when he was the one that said he was going to be the one to tell everyone about their relationship.
"Yeah but what do we say after we're getting married? They'll want to know how long we've been together. How I proposed..." Chang Wook said hoping Ha Eun had any ideas she could come up with but, she didn't say anything.
"You were the one that was going to tell everyone. Why should I say anything?" Ha Eun said looking away.
"Really? You're being like this now?" Chang Wook felt frustrated. Suddenly someone taps him on the shoulder. He turns around and sees a girl with long wavy hair, wearing a summer dress and a huge smile on her face.
"Mi Jin" Chang Wook said. The girl chuckles and they hug. Ha Eun looks at both of them, her eyebrows raised.
"Wook!" Mi Jin said happily "Its been so long"
"Yeah! What have you been doing?" Chang Wook asked excitedly.
"I'm an elementary school teacher now" she said. Chang Wook was surprised "Going on 3 years" she added.
"You finally did it" he said. He knew how much she wanted to be a teacher "You always wanted to be a teacher. Since we were kids"
Mi Jin nods then looks over to Ha Eun. Ha Eun forces a grin, kind of irritated that she hasn't been noticed until now "And we are being completely rude" Mi Jin reaches her hand out to Ha Eun.
"I'm Jo Mi Jin" the girl said. Ha Eun takes her hand.
"Lee Ha Eun" she said quickly taking her hand away from Mi Jin's. Mi Jin felt like Ha Eun didn't like her but couldn't put her finger on why. She quickly ignored it thinking that Ha Eun was just shy.
"So, tell me. Did you manage to become an editor?" Mi Jin asked Chang Wook "Or did you get promoted and are now someone's boss?" Mi Jin seemed really interested in Chang Wook's answer. Chang Wook on the other hand didn't want to answer. He didn't want Mi Jin to be disappointed in him.
He glanced over at Ha Eun and noticed how she was pursing her lips together, trying not to laugh.
"He's nobody's boss" they all turned their gazes to a tall, middle aged man. He had a smile on his face, but his presence was overwhelming. Chang Wook could kind of see Ha Eun in him.
"Hi dad" Chang Wook said. His father places his arm around Chang Wook.
"Eun Ha here is the boss" he says pointing at Ha Eun "Chang Wook is just her assistant" he looks at his son with a grin.
Chang Wook looks at Mi Jin. Its obvious she feels uncomfortable. He looks over at Ha Eun, she looks disgusted. But why wouldn't she, the man just mispronounced her name and smells like liquor.
Chang Wook's father walks away before Ha Eun can even correct him, leaving the three of them in an awkward silence. Chang Wook looks over at Ha Eun.
"What a nice man" Ha Eun says. Chang Wook groans and walked after his father.
"As you can guess, they've never had the best relationship" Mi Jin said.
"What happened?" Ha Eun asked. Her interest had been peaked.
"What hasn't happened?" Mi Jin answered with a question "Han Soo has always been strict on Wook, especially after..." Mi Jin paused, she felt it wasn't a good idea to tell Ha Eun especially if Chang Wook hasn't told her. She coughs and continues "Anyways, Wook always loved the TV and everything that had to do with reading and writing. He preferred to stay indoors than playing with all the other kids. I saw him as special, Han Soo only ever saw it as a problem" Mi Jin widens her eyes thinking that she said too much about Wook's relationship with his father. She didn't want for Ha Eun to see Wook's father in a bad light, they had barely just met.
Ha Eun started thinking that Mi Jin and Chang Wook had some history. Whether it was just as friends or something more was still too early to know, and she didn't want to ask but she didn't know whether it was because she didn't want to know the answer or because she thought she was intruding.
"This is annoying" Ha Eun said. Mi Jin looked at her confused. Ha Eun shakes her head at Mi Jin and walked away. Mi Jin stood there wondering if she said something wrong, but smiled thinking that Ha Eun was an interesting person.
