Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Without further ado, Audrey asked if what she heard was right, "What do you mean that I'm lucky?"

"What?" He looked as if he didn't know what he just said.

"You just told me that I'm lucky. Now, elaborate what you just said." She said, demanding an explanation to his answer. She looked at him intently trying to analyze his surprised expression.

"Uhh…that. Uhm…what I mean is that..." It seems as if Aiden is having a hard time figuring out what to say. He looked staggered for the moment but handled the situation in calm temperament by saying, "What I mean is that you're lucky because you're the only one who gets to know my deepest darkest secret."

"Oh, I see." So, it was his 'secret' that he was referring to. For a moment, Audrey was half confused about his preposition. "Well, I found it very amusing. Since you've entrusted me with it, I consider you as my friend now."

"So, you're really okay with me being your friend?" He gave Audrey a warm smile as he continues to read the book that he's been browsing.

"What's with that anxious look on your face? Weren't you the one who's eager on making me as your friend?

"You really don't know me, do you?" He said as he closed the book that he's holding.

"Hmm? Are you someone whom should I be afraid of?" She asked as she write some notes on her notebook after finding the page on the book that she's been looking for.

"I hope not."

"Though we've only just met, I don't think that you are someone who is bad. Honestly speaking, if I think that you are, I wouldn't have talked to you in the first place."

Aiden put his left elbow on the table and rested his wrist under his chin. He looked at her in the eyes and saw that she looked back at him promptly as if sensing that she knew that he's looking keenly at her. He then decided to ask, "Tell me, what kind of person do you I am?

"Okay." Audrey put her pen down and looked and him in a serious manner and said, "You seemed to be someone who is sentimental. You like keeping and treasuring things that are special to you. You must love taking pictures for it seems that you wanted to keep your precious memories to be somehow preserved. You are possessive. You don't like others taking what is yours. Because of that you are someone who shouldn't be messed with. But your eyes, they express a lot of emotions. There's happiness, grief and sadness."

"That's some remarks you got there."

"I'm just guessing. Well, Kylie told me that I'm somehow good at reading people. She even told me that I must be a clairvoyant on my previous life. So, did I guess right?"

"Somehow."

"In what part did I get it wrong?"

"The part where you said that I don't like taking what is mine."

"Okay? What should it be then?"

"It's not that I don't like it when others try and take what is mine, I hate it. The idea of it unsettles me. I am extremely possessive specially when I needed to be."

"You must really be possessive towards your girlfriend."

"I don't have a girlfriend."

Audrey almost couldn't believe what he just said. It was so unbelievable to her thinking that someone as attractively good-looking, rich and charming couldn't possibly have as girlfriend is impossible. She then prudishly asked without hesitations, "Are you perhaps gay?"

Aiden almost choked up with what Audrey suddenly said. Of all the things that she could have thought, it never crossed his mind of considering himself as one.

He laughed trying to be silent as possible because this girl in front of him is just full of surprises. She keeps on giving him surprise attacks catching him off guard all the time.

He looked at her reaction and it was priceless. She somehow looked convinced with what she just said. To end Audrey's unlikely prejudice he replied, "I'm not gay. It's just that, I'm not the type who liked to fool around. I like being serious."

"So, I guess that's why you looked so lonely."

"I looked lonely?"

"Yes. Being serious in life is good. You look like the kind of guy who won't ran out of friends. But if you weren't lonely you wouldn't talk to someone who is boring like I am."

"You are not boring. I'm actually having fun talking to you."

"Really? Tell me, what kind of person do you think I am." Audrey recognizes herself as someone who is really dull. She doesn't have anything new in her life that is worth the interest of other people. Plus, she happened to be very cynical most of the time.

"You are sympathetic. You like understanding people's nature and behavior. Due to this you are generous for you like giving than receiving. Since you are so kind, some people might take advantage of you and use it as a weakness against you but you are courageous. You tend to face everything headstrong though somehow you feel lost because you tend to forget that you are not alone that you don't need to carry everything on your own."

"That sounds reassuring. Thank you, I will continue to be self-righteous in accordance to your findings." She gave him a mocking smile unconvinced of what he just told her.

"You're really oblivious of your own charms, don't you?" Aiden muttered smiling back at her.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing."

They continued to chat for a while unaware that it already had been hours since they started talking. When Audrey looked at the time on the wrist watch that her brother gave her last year, she was perplexed.

"Oh no! I never thought that it's already this late! My brother will kill me if I didn't get home now."

She swiftly fixed her things up. Aiden helped her return the books that she took. It's passed 5 in the afternoon so it is expected to be getting dark when they both went out of the school building.

Aiden offered her a ride but she declined saying, "Thank you but I don't want to be sold off or be thrown at a deserted place."

"You're really something aren't you. Others would have agreed immediately if I ask them."

"Well exclude me from them. I must be going now. See you tomorrow then?"

"Of course. Take care."

"Okay. Take care of yourself. Driving a flashy car at night is not safe you know."

Aiden saw Audrey left. He then went inside his car and smiled like an idiot and told himself, "She's still the same person whom I have fallen in love 10 years ago."
