If Aiden knows Audrey's name, he must really have something to do with his past. It's suspicious enough that he transferred at their school saying that he's looking for someone. But when Audrey heard what his answer to her question, she told herself to stop reading too much romance fiction for it's already affecting her sense of rationality.
"It's written at the letter of your boyfriend."
"Ow." She almost laughed at herself when she looked at the letter and saw that it was really written in big letters stating her full name, "Audrey Gray" together with her address.
"Don't worry I didn't memorize your address so rest assured I won't stalk you."
"You're crazy! Anyways, he's not my boyfriend. He's a precious friend of mine whom I don't plan on losing."
Aiden smiled after hearing those words and said, "It must be nice being your friend."
"It really is! If anybody bullies my friend I'll hunt and take them down myself."
"Be my friend then." He said as he chooses what book to read. And when he settled to one, he opened and browsed the pages.
"What? You mean to say that someone is already bullying you at the first day of school?"
"Hahaha! That's really funny but no."
"Well I thought that you wanted some protection since you're new here."
"That sounds as if you're some kind of outlaw."
"I'm a good citizen okay. I'm just wondering why someone like you would need to be friends with someone like me."
"Do you think it's not possible?"
"Well, I think you're one of those crazy rich people who tend to buy everything at the mall. I bet your house is as big as the mall itself!"
"That's my family's wealth, not mine."
"So, your house is really that big? Gosh, people like you really do exist." Audrey thought that people like him are somehow intimidatingly rich. They're really lucky being born with a silver spoon. She then remembered about the sports car being parked right outside their building so she said, "Don't tell me that the yellow sports car that everyone has been talking about is yours?"
"It's mine." He frugally said while observing Audrey's expressions. He stares at her enchanted for she's like an open book that can be read easily.
"My brother told me to keep my distance to boys who have such cars."
"Why is that?"
"He told me that people like you might easily kidnap girls and sell them off somewhere or worse! You might even throw them at some desert and leave them under the scorching sun to die!"
"That's way too advanced. But your brother is right."
Surprised with what Aiden had just said, Audrey dropped the pen that she's been holding as she push her seat aimlessly readying herself to stand. "Are you really going to sell me off???"
"Of course no! Hahaha. You're really interesting. Hahaha." Aiden tried covering his mouth with his hand for he needed to hide his laughter for they're inside the library but it only made him look like he's having hard time with it.
"You scared me. Geez! Selling me off won't make you earn lots of money you know!"
"I believe you worth more than you think."
"Really? How much do you think I'm worth?"
"Nothing."
"Are you serious? I thought you just said that I worth more than I think. That's really devastating. I'm not good enough even if I sell myself off voluntarily then."
"You're worth nothing because nothing can equal or compare your equivalence to anything for you are something worth more than anything in this world."
Aiden's remarks silenced her. It was the first time that someone has ever said something so sweet to her like that. This guy is such a sweet talker that Audrey almost took it seriously. This person can just get any girl if he really wanted.
"You shouldn't say those words to anyone whom you just met okay? That almost caught me off guard. Crazy guy."
"But you're already my friend. I just told you how I see my friends as, just like how you told me how good you are as one."
"I haven't agreed being your friend."
"Well what do you need me to do for you to accept me as a friend?"
"Are you serious wanting to be my friend? Any funny business and I will end up being your worst enemy."
"Sounds fair. Now tell me, what do you need me to do?"
"Hmm. First of all, I need to know if I can trust you." Audrey began thinking what would be the best way to know if you can trust someone. After thinking deeply, she decided into asking him, "What is your deepest darkest secret?"
"I kissed my crush when I was still young."
"That's it?"
"We were like eight years old back then. I asked her to come with me to the garden. I told her that I'll give her something memorable that only she can receive first."
"Those were some smooth moves, tell me more."
"So, I took her hand and went to the garden. It was almost dawn. I was actually really nervous back then but I wanted to make it really special. I took her deep in the garden where my mom's most beautiful flowers were being bred. And when she saw the flowers, she was very happy. She smiled beautifully making her the most beautiful flower there."
Audrey saw Aiden's joyful expression as he narrates in detail what really happened. She decided to watch him silently.
"I still remember how her cheeks flushed together with the sunset's orange-y light reflecting on it. Her eyes brightened with such light when she looked back at me and thanked me for bringing her there. I told her that that's not the only surprise I have with me. She was eager to know what's next that she unknowingly embraced me."
Aiden looked at Audrey and saw her listening intently. He looked at her in the eye and continued to tell his side of story.
"We sat on the bench near the fountain. I told her to close her eyes because something really amazing will happen. She obediently followed me and closed her eyes. She didn't even try to dare take a peek. The sun began to rest and the moon rose so stunningly that it made me realize how perfect that moment was."
"She was so precious to me that's why I wanted her to know how she really means to me. So, I gently leaned on her and gave her a quick kiss on her lips. I moved away fast before she opened her eyes. She asked me what it was. I told her it's the fireflies and added that she needed to look around her. She stood up and saw countless fireflies surrounding us. She was overjoyed that she took my hand and gave me such a lovely smile. She even believed that it was the fireflies that kissed her."
"She must be really lucky." Audrey said after hearing such a heartfelt story.
"Yes, you are lucky."
Confused, Audrey asked if what she heard was right. She doubted that what she heard was certain. She thought that he heard him say that she is lucky. It made her think that she's the girl that he was pertaining to.
