Chapter 28 - Rainbow

The next day started nicely with the sun shining through the clouds but Nefertiri knew that at any moment it can start raining. She was eager to see it since she was really sure that there was going to be a rainbow this time. She just wanted to see the water drops reflect some color it was just nice to see in this dark reality surrounding them. She was sure to make breakfast this time for her husband and herself. She wasn't bad at cooking but she wasn't the best since she lacked the imagination for something new each time she didn't know what to eat. Zidite just came back from his run and he didn't look to happy. One could not see any change in him but Nefertiri could clearly see some disturbance in the back of his eyes glowing there. She let it slip this time concentrating on the though that they need to see the Lord today again with Zero that is his mate. Sometimes there is happiness resulting from bad situation. So after they finished eating she dressed herself nicely and was just waiting for Zidite to come out of his shower. When he saw her looking even better than the last time she dressed up his eyes shone with happiness. This time she didn't forget to put on her pants or something else everything was in its place and she even put some mascara on. She didn't really need it but it was a contrast to her white eyelashes so it was kind of different. When they were ready Nefertiri couldn't wait any longer sitting in one place was getting harder with each minute so they set of.

Zidite was mad seeing most of the tribe looking scared or furious at his wife. Why would someone do this to her. She was a delicate lady not really understanding her feelings at some times. She didn't have someone with her for a long time for her to learn how to express herself with feelings.

When Nefertiri saw the Lord she let go of his hand and went running to her pops to see how he's feeling today.

"Grandfather!" She took his hand in hers and squeezed it lightly.

"Nefertiri my child I hope you did rest tonight."

"I did Grandfather. Don't you think it's weird to call you this when you look my age?"

"It's good that you rested. This isn't going to change! You're my granddaughter since you were so little even if it's not by blood you are my family and I'm yours."

"But maybe I should call you older brother now?" She was still smiling at the Lord.

"If it's going to make you less uncontrollable." He smiled to her knowing that this was indeed weird for her to call him grandfather looking this young.

"Where is Zero? I would want to see him."

"He's still sleeping. He didn't get much sleep when we started talking and he started to warm up to me." Nefertiri was really happy for the Lord. Seeing his twinkling eyes made her feel better.

She was so worried yesterday after seeing some of his memories. She heard the rain when the water drops started to hit the road and buildings. Her smile grew wider so she went outside to stand in the rain. Maybe it was weird but she really needed that.

Nefertiri started chanting just to feel an emotional release but maybe it was something more because the colors started to be more vibrant and everything around her started to be purified. It was as if her voice with the rain was washing away the negativity that was there. Some elves were looking at her trough the window but the kids were feeling as if they need to join her so even with their parents protests they went out barefoot or just in socks to sing with her sometimes even a wordless song. Some of them didn't sing but started to dance. It was a sight to behold. Things like this didn't happen since hundredths of years and the Lord standing at the door looked at her with tears trying to spill from his eyes. Zidite didn't really understand much of it but he could feel the sense behind of what they were doing. Seeing her singing and dancing happily made him feel better as if a weight was lifted from him.

When the last drop hit her forehead the sun showed a rainbow. The kids were tired but happily looking around them. They knew that this was supposed to be something that they should be doing from time to time when it started to rain. Having Nefertiri was really different and funny. All the kids knew that she was teaching them how to care for their tribe in the future. Her teachings were for the little ones when the adults were just hostile to her. So the gods wanted the teachings to survive they could learn but not all. The kids were going to be a good future after the scared and mad parents were going to be gone or after accepting the changes. She prayed for happiness. For them to live as freely as they wanted and if they really needed it they have Mother Nature to make them feel better. They needed to hear to the wind when it was blowing to the trees that were talking stories about their long gone generation. The waters whispers are there too explaining how it looks under there with her hugging everything around. The fire was a trouble maker so if you want to hear it out you need to figure out what it really says.

The kids wanted to learn it was easier than to think about the parents that didn't want to hear about the past. All of them getting more and more human.

"Nefertiri! Say it!" The Lord knew that she got another thing to do so he was just trying to make it easier.

"Since today we are not going to use that many electronic devices! Everything like: a tv, phone or computer needs to be given to the Lord! If you need it for work don't bring it home! If you need it for your homework you can use it an hour or two! We need to wear our traditional clothing! Why are we loosing so many teachings?! Why are we loosing ourselves to be someone who we are not? We are not humans! We will never be so stop pretending! Here is your home the place where we can be ourselves!"

They all looked at her weirdly but she didn't care. Starting to be dependent on things they didn't really need was really bad in her opinion.

"I have an announcement!" The Lord started talking looking st all the people that came out of their homes. "My mate it one of the people that were experiments! It's a male! There is not going to be an heir so after our deaths I appoint Nefertiri Lux to be the next Lord of this tribe!"

Zidite noticed that Nefertiri was tense hearing that. He knew that the situation at hand was difficult with them to be in need to be together or the changes. If they are going to stay here are they going to live forever. What is there in the future for them. It was just one huge mystery.

"Nefertiri come here my sister." He didn't call her his granddaughter because looking this young would make her uncomfortable. When they went inside the outside world was still silent holding the elves in the trap of a shocking news. "You are going to stay with Zidites tribe to teach them and the priestesses to do their job."

"I understand."

"Forgetting is one of the worst things so please show them the reality of being one of us."

"Don't worry older brother I plan on doing that."

"Good Good Good!" The Lord laughed loudly his hair swaying in the air beautifully. "Show them who is the boss in the tribe! Hahahaha!"
