As old as there was forging there was the existence of swords used for the killing of others. Sword skill soon became developed and important in a battle. The first master swordsman was said to be a reincarnater one that would die and as soon as a new blade worthy of his skill was forged he would be reborn. Only in times of great need would his skill be needed as every time in his rebirth he would learn every new style of sword fighting in order to best any man that dare stand in his way. When this new man was born the world would be changed forever often times corrupt nations would fall and broken societies obliterated for his swords would not only be skill alone but a power far greater than is deemed possible. Those who see it are often driven to insanity for the few who survive cant handle its destructive power are driven to fear by its overwhelming might.
However time has passed and no warrior has been reborn so he went into legend. Soon his legend became myth and a bedtime story old mothers told thier children in cold winters to make them feel safe. And over the centuries his legend was forgotten. He was known by few that remembered as the great blade. However the reason he didn't come back was very important and very necessary in order to keep balance in the future which war was going to wrack the whole earth.
