Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

He wanted to know how she had come to know that Canya had resorted to sorcery to have him. However, according to his watch, it was already a few minutes to noon and Deborah was already calling. Kissing Jane's left cheek, he said goodbye and left. She had wanted to tag along but he had insisted she remained behind, in case something happened to him. She was left smiling while holding where he had just kissed. From her expression, she could not believe that the moment they just had had really happened.

The concert hall was not too far from where they had met. However, time wastage was a luxury Eddie could not afford, at least not with the pain on his chest. While Brenda had told him that his breakthrough had granted him a few days, he wanted to get rid of the pain once and for all.

He found Deborah seated on her motorbike with a worried expression. She kept looking from one direction to the other, seemingly expecting someone to appear. When she saw Eddie, she could not even afford a smile. Even when Eddie greeted her, she only offered a nod before giving words to her worries, "Eddie, Brenda has not arrived. I have never heard a sniffer go back on her word before."

"It is not yet noon. She may arrive any time soon."

"You do not understand. If I agreed with a sniffer to meet at ten in the morning, thirty minutes before will find that sniffer at the meeting point."

"Maybe she is just held up somewhere and she will turn up, let me call her."

Eddie dialed Brenda's number. Even after more than three attempts, she was not found and that made Eddie worried too. Two hours past noon, she did not show up, making them wonder where she could have been. Eddie called Jack and even he could not pick Eddie's call. When Eddie tried Jason, the latter only told him that after the two left him at the Capital the previous night, he had not heard from them.

"Something is wrong somewhere," Deborah stated, "if they both left Jason at the restaurant yesternight, and both aren't picking their calls, something must be wrong somewhere. We need to find what."

"I agree with you, can we ask Catherine to trace them?"

"Eddie, it only worked with Jane because a lot of things allowed it to. Unfortunately, a sniffer is involved here and if there is one person a finder cannot find, it is a sniffer. Can we go to their places and find out?"

Nodding in agreement, Eddie jumped to her motorbike which took off as soon as his behind touched her cushion. They started with Jack's place and he had not been seen since the previous day. Brenda had not been seen for the last two days.

"What do we do?" Deborah asked after trying calling the two several times more in vain. They were standing at the entrance of the hall where a security guard had walked up to them and warned them against. Were they found, the police would be called and things would get dirty.

"Jack will see my missed calls. He will call as soon as he sees them. At the moment, it will be better if we wait. I will give you a call immediately he does."

"Okay, we can go to my house. Green Wyvern did not get time to talk to you when you were there, will you mind seeing him now?"

"But I was there for almost the entire day, why didn't it talk to me?"

"You were unconscious almost the entire time. Besides, before you left for the concert, he had left to deal with a few issues somewhere far from Noya. He returned this morning."

"I need to visit my gallery and I have an appointment tonight; I am sorry I can't make it."

"Okay, until another time then. I will visit your gallery when I have time."

Her motorbike floated in the air before she sped off, disappearing from his view. He decided to walk to the gallery which was just a kilometer from where he stood. As usual, the city was bustling with people. Across the streets, different kinds of people walked with different paces doing different things. While some held the leashes to their dogs, many had beasts of different kinds, some so scary that a glance could make one run for one's life.
