Meg, as the nominated heiress of JADE, is constantly travelling for business. Her training started when she had her practicum in the marketing department. When she graduated from university, she was hired as a staff at the planning department. Over the years, she was transferred from one department to another as she climbed up the executive ladder.
As the head of operations at present, she already has a good grasp of the different areas in JADE. Because of the good genes from her parents, she readily learned the intricacies of the business world.
And because she is usually away this year, Cody and George have pretty much been alone at NABU.
One weekend, while Cody was in the study for a video conference with executives from a branch abroad, a guest arrived.
George has just placed the vase on one of the console tables when the main door was opened by the butler. She looked up to see an elegant lady and said, "Mom! You look great... when did you return? We could have fetched you at the airport."
"Hmmp! Such an insincere greeting," Mrs. Chiong harrumphed and continued be saying, "If the two of you really care about this old woman, you should have at least called and assured me that your marriage is solid!"
"Mom..."
"Don't you know, because I didn't hear from either of you when the news broke, I messed up some of the deals I was working hard to get... And when I get here, I get such a cheerful greeting as if nothing happened?!"
George threw her arms around her mother-in-law's shoulder and softly said, "There really was nothing to tell, Mom. We didn't even know about the news until we returned from Ise."
"Hmmp! Don't play cute around me! If that works on my useless son, it will never work on me!"
"I may be useless but I would not be tolerant to whoever dares to bully my wife," Cody interjected with a big smile. He just walked of the study when he heard his mother's complaints.
"You! Just because you're married, you are abandoning me!"
"Of course. Mommy, when a child goes to marry, his priority becomes the one he marries. Everyone else would be secondary."
"Huhu... I'm all alone, now. Even your dad is always busy at the law firm."
"Mom, we're all here for you. It's just that, it should be father that has to constantly accompany you. He should drop everything everything for you."
"Brat! You're badmouthing me,now?! When did I leave your mother, alone, huh?" Mr, Chiong butted in which surprised the couple since they thought that only their mother came.
