Chapter 37 - Keeping up the ruse

She may love what she's doing right now but she still feels forced into doing this against her will. So everytime she finds a hole, she always makes sure to annoy him.

When he made sure that the cafe is already bustling with customers, Handsome's visits decreased. He went back to his normal routine of coming over every weekends and visiting his parents over. Sometimes he drops by the cafe just to check if there are stuffs he needed to get then just leaves as quickly as he arrives.

His other visits would consist of bringing his friends over to unwind then they would leave just few minutes before they close the cafe. There was one particular visit he came over just for her. As usual, she put her most annoying self and liniked her arms on his while he just sighed in defeat.

He came over to talk about making the cafe open all round the week which she took to mean more works for her and she did not agree. He came in a couple times more for the same request until they came to an agreement of staying open all day during weekends only.

After which, he rarely comes over again which is a big breather for her. She doesn't need to put a facade and act crazy over him when she's just too annoyed as he does with each other's presence.

Eventually, they found out that Kris got married without letting anyone know. They somehow managed to lay low on their usual bickering and teamed up to harass Kris with questions. He just smiled at them as he packed his things for his honeymoon.

"I'll let you meet her soon." became days then weeks and months. They never heard back from him again.

Chryxso came back to look after Grandpa Tony by then and just recently they heard he's been in an accident. Sweetheart wanted to visit but Handsome has stopped coming by the cafe then. She's not too close to Chryxso so she felt it awkward if she just came over by herself.

She sometimes doodles on her little office and stares blankly at the road. This was the longest time he did not come over to check on the cafe. And whether she likes it or not, she started missing the stupid guy.

The next day was like all other days. They opened early and served their patrons. She chatted with them for awhile then goes back to the counter to trade silly jokes with her crew. Most of them are working students which she finds better to hire than others. This way, she can help them with their school needs and also keep the young vibe in the cafe.

Two new customers came in early that day and while their patrons may have already been early, they caught everyone's attention with their contrasting appearance. One was tall, elegant and lady-like while the other is few inches short and just wearing light overalls.

They both took their orders and sat a little bit far from the others so she decided to personally serve them their orders. The elegant lady asked for a tea, bleh, and the one in overalls wanted some iced cold coffee. Her already cheery day is made even better when Miss Overalls started complimenting their menu.

"Ah, this feels so great. My nerves are getting relaxed." the woman closed her eyes, revealing an innocent face.

"Thank you. I love these kinds of feedback. It inflates my ego." she opened her eyes in shock as she just unknowingly blurted it out. She grinned and went back to the counter.

"Did you hear that? I said something stupid again, did I?" her cheeks are flushing in shame as her crew just looked on, visibly amused by her current dilemma.

"It's okay, you're so shameless anyway." Janae, one of her crews, joked with her.

"Shut up, you're fired!" she wanted to smack her head in shame now. How did she say those words to a stranger. One moment her mood was elated and she said some words that made it go down the drain.

"It's fine, they won't mind you anyway. They looked like they're in a deep conversation." Janae tried to comfort her and pointed to the new customers again.

Miss Overalls pushed her chair back as if she's ready to leave but Miss High heels started sobbing, which caught the attention of their other customers. It looked like they unknowingly captured everyone's attention by their strangeness.

This will look bad if they notice, she thought so she decided walking back to them and tried to lift some tension of off the atmosphere. Some of their customers are waving her away as they enjoyed the scene but she just snooted and walked on. You gossipmongers!

"Is there something wrong with the food you got?" when she finally got them to look around, she turned on her hill and walked towards the counter, shouting over.

"Who prepared the order in table fifteen? You're fired!" this is already a popular scenario they see whenever she wanted to have some fun with her crew and their customers are always amused with her antics but the new customers obviously have no idea what is happening so one of them shouted 'No!'

Sweetheart smiled, she immediately knew who stood up. She winked at her crew and turned back to them as Miss Overalls explained themselves to their curious audience.

Her 'What? Can we not talk about emotional things while on a cafe?' question got the rest of the customers back to their own businesses and she clapped her hands in approval.

"Good grief. That's a good line! I want to be your friend, you seem like a cheerful person. You, too, miss crying lady so you won't be sad anymore." she walked back to them and even conveniently tapped their shoulders.

"Actually, I did not fire her but at least you can have you own moment now," she tried to whisper when she felt her body raise from the floor and hung over someone's shoulders.

Her forehead knotted in annoyance but that 'someone' just got her to sit on a nearby seat, a little far from the two ladies. She saw a tall guy walk over the two ladies and slightly bow his head before her turned back to her, his own forehead in a knot.

Her own knotted forehead relaxed when she saw Handsome's annoyed face and she greeted him. Admit it or not, she was glad to see him back. Of course, she won't admit it even to herself! She evilly smiled.

"Oh, my love? Have you decided to elope with me now? You don't have to do that anymore because we have already been betrothed. Our marriage is planned in heaven."
