(Abaddon's POV)
I'm floating inside a black space. This is strange, I'm sure that demons can't go to the afterlife. After all, we have thrown that right for power. It's the same for the angels, although the reason for them is that they don't have souls, although humans turned into angels do go to the afterlife.
I look down. Oh, I do have a body! It's my body, naked with pale skin. I look around. Am I alone here? Umm… well, whatever. I guess being stuck in a void is better than being a slave to Lucifer. I wonder if there's a way to revive me?
Shit, I really lived a shitty life, didn't I? although I don't have any regrets, my life wasn't really great. My life as a human ended prematurely, and my life as a demon was mostly suffering. I had friends, a lover and lived happily for a long time, although the last 500 years were unfortunate.
The only shame is that I didn't get to pluck Lucifer's feathers one by one, pull out his wings and skin him alive. What I told to the hero Lisandra and to that cute angel Uriel was true. I indeed turn into a lesser demon, but I didn't lose my mind. My will indeed powered through, and I managed to stay sane.
Well, I guess staying here in this void is better than just disappearing into nothing.
Oh my, you're the first one to think that!
Suddenly, the black space turns white. In front of me, a beautiful woman is standing, her long blonde hair flowing through the air as if it was on water, the white clothes are modest, but her figure isn't. her skin is pale and her eyes golden. The face is cute and young, and her bare feet are floating.
(Lisanna): "I'm the goddess of reincarnation Lisanna. Welcome to the void between life and death, Aleksander Frost."
(Abaddon): "I threw away that name long ago. My name is Abaddon."
(Lisanna): "Oh my, did you accept the name that the Fallen Star has given you?"
(Abaddon): "No. Even his own generals' names, such as Mammon and Amaimon are names created by demons. They have acquired those names after killing the demons that had those names. The name of Abaddon is inherited from the demons. Even though h I was formerly a human, I do have some pride in my achievements."
(Lisanna): "Oh my, I didn't know that! I haven't been looking to your world since the beginning. Forgive me for that."
(Abaddon): "Don't worry. So, if you're a goddess of reincarnation, does that mean that I will reincarnate?"
(Lisanna): "Yes."
She said smiling.
(Abaddon): "This is surprising… I thought that I wasted my soul when I transformed into a demon a millennia and half ago."
(Lisanna): "No." she said while shaking her head. "This would be the case for a normal demonization. You see, something that nobody has realized on your world, is that when you demonize, your soul leaves your body, turning you into a mindless beast. But you resisted on your own. You struggled so hard against the magic that your soul refused to leave your body and allowed you to keep your mind."
I raised my eyebrows, surprised.
(Abaddon): "Wow, I didn't even consider that!"
Now that she talked about it, I had some insight on the magic. If I ever try demonization again, I guess I can jump straight to a humanoid demon.
(Lisanna): "Right? But still, it's a genial method. What you said on your last moments is right. Power is power, what truly matters is the heart."
I blush a little. Although it's a bit embarrassing, it's what I believe. There isn't evil power, only evil people. Power doesn't corrupt, it brings out the worst in people, and reveals their true nature. It's also true to demonic power. It doesn't change you if you turn into a high demon straight away, but only bad people do the transformation. There are good demons, as well bad angels.
(Lisanna): "Back to what truly matters at the moment. I want to reincarnate you."
(Abaddon): "Me? Are you sure? I'm not that much of a good person, you know?"
She giggled cutely.
(Lisanna): "Don't worry Abaddon. I don't want to reincarnate you because of your deeds. I've watched you all your life. I have taken piety in you. I want to give you a second chance in my world."
I frown. This sound suspicious.
(Lisanna): "It may indeed sound suspicious, but it's the true. I've watched your journey for 1.500 years, and the unfair life you had. You are one of the few that deserve a second chance, and this time, I want you to have a happy life."
She said, smiling gently.
(Abaddon): "So you can read my mind…"
(Lisanna): "Yes. Ad I also can feel your distrust. Don't worry, the life condition may not be ideal, but I will give my best to give you space to grow. My world also has a level system after all."
After a short silence, sigh.
(Abaddon): "Alright, I will trust you. I have nothing left after all."
She smiled and approached me, giving a gentle hug.
(Lisanna): "I will give you my blessing, so heal your scars in my world. Have a happy life. You are proud of your name, so I will make it a thing for you when you arrive."
I nod, not hugging her back. A hug isn't enough to go through this hardened heart. She releases me, not minding that I didn't hug her back.
(Lisanna): "Besides the language, I will give you a few bonuses, so enjoy your life as much as you want."
My vision blurs and her voice started to fade as my conscience turns black.
(Lisanna): "Good luck, Destroyer. A new adventure awaits you…"
And with that, I pass out.
(In the territory of the Baron Grigori, Abaddon's POV)
I open my eyes, feeling a bot groggy, a strange feeling all over my body, as well some numbness. My vison is blurred, but I can faintly make out people standing around me, looking down to me. After blinking for a few times, my vision gets better, and now I see perfectly.
The closest face is that of a smiling blonde woman with bright blue eyes and pale skin, with a pretty face. She is sweating heavily, her gorgeous hair gluer to her head, with her breath rough. This position… is she holding me? Oh yeah, I was reincarnated. This should be just after my birth.
Looking around, I can see a man with a nervous smile in his face. He is handsome, with black hair, brown eyes and very pale skin, as well thin limbs. He is tall too, around… 1,80? The way he is looking at me, he must be my father. The other person is a woman.
She pretty, but not at the same level as my mother. She has long, wavy brown hair, with pale skin and bright, green eyes. She's dressed like a maid, and her hands are dirty with some blood. Was she the one that delivered me?
My parents start to speak in a tongue that I can't understand. My mother is having a hard time speaking, as she is tired from giving birth. My supposed father pats her back, and she leans back, preparing to rest. She looks down to me, an says with a smile:
(mother): "Abaddon…"
I could clearly hear that word, my name. That goddess… that's the thing that she promised?
...
I should find her church, if she has one, to thank her. I am indeed proud of the name, I conquered it with my own power, and deserved that name, taking it from the clutches of the fallen generals. That is the reason I can be proud to say that I threw away my human name.
My mother smiles to me, caressing my head. This time, I will change everything.
