(Abaddon's POV)
I'm now standing on the walls of the city, on the horizontal, defying gravity. Believe it or not, I'm not using magic. This is a technique that I'm using with my feet, gripping the wall with my foot fingers. I'm waiting the guard on the wall to walk away.
As he goes away, I jump over and fall on the other size, my feet touching the grass. I the dash forward to the forest ahead. Around the city there is a normal forest with some monsters, and nearer the mountain is the Dark Forest, where powerful monsters dwell.
I'm not going for leveling, actually, I don't have hunting monsters in my mind at all. Certainly, that was the objective when I got out of the mansion, but I changed my mind. I just want to explore a bit, maybe even see something interesting.
After all, the mansion has been too stuffy for me, I want to move around a little. As soon as I get at a reasonable distance from the town, I jump really high, enjoying the wind hitting my face. Ah, I love freedom!
I jump around a few more times and fall on a clearing. I want to train some sword moves that I can't do home. I don't have demonic power, but mana will do. After all, mana is the basic of magical energies, and in my previous life, I used it exclusively for magic, and for swordsmanship, only Twice Critical uses magic from my two longsword styles.
I take stance, lightly bending my knees and separating my legs to a distance a bit wider than my shoulders, my right hand ready to grab my sword. The way that I learned to fight was a bit different, as I never had any teacher all my life.
My main weapon, is surprisingly, a katana, as I learned how to fight with it. The reason for that is because when I was a lesser demon, I came across a demon blade in the shape of a katana that was deadly sharp, so my main style is focused around that.
I choose to master it instead of becoming an all rounder, therefore raising my battle power tremendously. Eventually, as support, I created different styles to cover my weaknesses, and develop better chances in defeating my enemies. My first two styles are for katanas, and the other two for eastern swords.
That's the reason why I don't hold it on my hand, the position on my back is to draw it quickly when I use it, since it's a support. It's similar to iai, the essence is to put it back on the back before attacking again.
I close my eyes and focus, spreading mana through my body. This body is still too young, and I doubt that I can use my full fledged abilities while still being human. A human body without enhancements can't handle my full abilities, so I'll take the opportunities that my abilities are limited and improve them as much as possible.
For that, I want to get used to them in this body as soon as possible. I gather mana at my legs, and to my feet, making me hover slightly. I then gather mana on my right hand and move it quickly.
I grab the hilt at the same time I take a step forward with my right foot, leaving my left foot behind as support as my right leg stays bent, and I point forward with the blade. Immediately, my body lunges forward, sliding o the mana on my feet.
The mana from my hand bursts through my hand, flowing violently through the sword, creating a blue aura around me from the tip. It's as if I turned into a sharp blue trail, going quickly to the trees. This move was baptized as Critical Charge, part of the Twice Critical style.
This technique is more of a battering ram than anything else. As the proof of that, I charge through the trees, shattering them to pieces unhindered. Every tree that touches the blue aura gets shattered, and I move at a speed as great as 120 km/ph.
After a few minutes, I stop my charge, feeling a bit tired. I'm far from mana exhaustion, I haven't used a tenth of it. I'm tired because of my body. I put the sword back on my shoulder. I turn back and look to the straight trail of destruction behind me.
I nod to myself satisfied and look up to the full moon, giant and blue, way bigger and more beautiful than in earth. I pull down my hood and mask, and feel the cold wind in my face, comforting my aching body.
Ah, the night. I loved it since my previous life. I just feel comfortable in the dark in general. I look around, searching for a high place. I'm a fan of those too. I take a straight leap of twenty meters, looking around as the world moves in slow motion for me.
Um, that mountains seems close enough to come back before the day breaks. As soon as my feet touch the ground, I use a basic self developed technique, Flash Step. It's quite simple, as most technique related to movement are.
It's a mix of the original shukuchi technique and mana. Mixing the footwork with bursts of mana, and reinforcing my feet and footwear with magic, I can move like I'm teleporting, often escaping my enemy's camp of vision in an instant, simulating a short distance teleport.
It's quite useful for long range movement as well. I can travel long distances with only one step, and spend just a little of mana, with little strain on my body. In one hour, I get to the foot of the mountain. Good, it's still far from the Dark Forest.
I look up to the mountain, some strange sensation overcoming me, as if something is slumbering in the mountain. According to what I read, the area beyond the Dark Forest is unexplored, like the large amount of this world.
The mountains in the distance, the Ancient Wall as it is called, is a division to an unknow area. Therefore, these mountains are unexplored, so it makes sense that I'm feeling something like this. When you live as long as me, you pick up some things, and can feel stuff.
I don't feel any evil from whatever is sleeping here. It's peacefully sleeping. I want to take a look to whatever is here. It's quite powerful, I would say around two thirds of my mana. It's quite powerful.
I jump, using Flash Step to climb the mountain. I feel something at the top. In a few minutes, the temperature drops drastically, and I use some magic to keep my body warm. I get to the top, my feet sinking in the snow almost to my knees.
The top is flat, and several boulders at the top. The feeling… it's below my feet. I take the sword from my back, channeling magic through the blade with fire element. The blade started to glow red, heat overflowing from the sword and melting the snow quickly.
However, only the hard rock awaits me. I scratch my chin, thinking. Shrugging my shoulders, I start to look around, melting the snow as the howling wind makes my mantle flutter while I expand my senses.
After a few minutes, I sit in one of the boulders, feeling a bit frustrated. I don't want to pierce the mountain and wake up whatever is sleeping here rudely. I cross my legs and close my eyes, expanding my senses and focusing on my surroundings.
And so, I find something. The aura coming from the center of the mountain… is leaking from one of the boulders.
