"What... Huff... What do you want?" David's father questioned. His body was covered in blood with stab wounds all over.
"YOUR LIFE!" The man in the black robe disappeared and reappeared in front of David's father and stabbed him in the heart.
"Blawghh..." David's father vomited blood all over as his lifeless eyes looked towards where David was hiding and collapsed onto the cold, hard floor.
"DAD!!!!!" All this was noticed by David who was awaked by sounds fighting from before and rushed to the source of the sound, after witnessing his father get hurt, he could not help but scream and he even rushed forward foolishly.
The instant he neared the black-robed man, the aura emitted from the man was intimidating enough to make David take a few steps back in fear and trepidation.
The man snorted at David's cowardice as he dropped a red coloured, skull head card and took off into the shadows after lifting up and laying the dead body on his shoulder.
"DAD!!! DAD!!! Dad!! Dad. Dad... This... This is a dream! WAKE ME UP!!" David's frantic shouting turned into soft weeping and denial, telling himself that all this was merely a dream, a figment of his imagination, his worst nightmare.
"Go ahead and mourn and let it all out! But mourn for just a moment, then pick yourself up, learn from your mistakes and strive for something more." David suddenly remembered what his father had told him just yesterday and decided to follow it.
He continued bawling his eyes out for a minute or so, after which he finally calmed down.
David glared at the red-coloured, skull head card and with a hint of bloodlust in his eyes, he muttered to himself, "League of Shadows, I will DESTROY YOU!" After which, David passed out and fell flat unto the ground.
In a dark alley somewhere...
"Alexander, are you sure you want to do this?" The black-robed man asked
"Of course, he will be fine!" Alexander replied
"No, I meant gifting him that treasure that even our best appraisers could not appraise you numbskull!"
"Hmph, I'm not stupid, I know what it does, it just will benefit him more than me." Alexander said with a grin.
A few hours later...
"Urghh..." David groaned as he pushed himself up from the marble floor. He looked around him, all the blood and destruction...
David became determined, determined to gain power and become stronger, stronger than even his father.
"My powers should have awakened by now, I will just get it checked when I enter the academy." David muttered to himself monotonously.
"Hmm?" David was planning to go to the kitchen to get some food until something on the half-broken wooden table caught his eye.
It was an extremely shiny silver ring with a flying dragon pattern around it.
David stepped over the blood and walked to the front of the half-table, bent down and picked the ring up.
He lifted it up above his head and tilted his head to admire the stunningly beautiful ring, he assumed it must have dropped out during the fight.
With that, he held the ring with his left hand and slotted it onto his ring finger on the other hand.
