Chapter 4 - Arrogance

"Oh? So you are going to school tomorrow?"

"Yea, I will take every chance I can to get stronger! So I can avenge my Father!"

David replied

"I wish you the best of luck young lad David!"

"Thanks Elis! Oh would you look at that, it's already night! I've got to go, bye! Thanks for talking to me!" David said

"Likewise!"

David and the tree Elis had been talking non-stop about all sorts of things from afternoon all the way until the sun went down and the moon came up.

After bading each other goodbye, David proceeded to skip back home, elated at making a new friend.

Curious, David checked the stats of his abilities once again.

Allows control over tiny roots that will stick out of the ground anywhere.

"Heh... I wonder what my skill will be like once it can't evolve anymore!" David grinned happily from ear to ear, forgetting all the pain and stress he had accumulated for that slight moment.

On the road back home, David casually plucked a leaf of a plant by the roadside and used his skill by placing the leaf on top of all his various scratches and bruises.

However, only the wounds that were smaller in size than the leaf were healed.

"Hmm, this skill would not be very useful unless I used it to heal a small wound that was inflicted by a weapon with poison... Or if I could get an extremely large leaf... And this skill, , I wonder when I would have the chance to use it...." David thought to himself.

While deep in thought, David accidentally bumped into someone who was walking in the opposite direction.

The person looked the same age as David and had neatly combed blonde hair. The person wore an arrogant and cocky expression and looked at David with a look of disdain.

"Hey watch where you are going, you peasant! My clothes are probably more valuable and expensive than your life!"

David was currently wearing his torn and tattered training clothes, even the brand of the clothing faded off due to the intense training he did in the past.

No matter how many time his father asked him to wear the new ones, David kept declining and said his current clothes were more comfortable.

That descision was one which made him stuck in his current predicament while looking like a homeless beggar.

"Sorry... Sorry!" To avoid further trouble, David humbled himself and hurriedly walked away.

"Hey what are those Katanas, where did you pick them up from? They look quite cool, give them to me for compensation!" The arrogant boy said.

"Sigh... Guess I have no choice... I really didn't want to do this." David turned around and glared at the boy.

"If you do not scram now, you will regret it!" David said in an extremely serious and grave tone.

"Who do you think you are! I am Zexter Fanri from the Exos guild! My father is the guild master. He can destroy you with just his sneeze! Hmph!" The cocky boy threatened David while he smirked and gave him a scornful gaze.

"Sigh... You have forced my hands... You better not regret it..." David sighed again and gave a fighting stance.

"!" David shouted and used the skill at the same time, afterwards he turned tails and sprinted away.

"Damn you!" Immediately after the spell was over, Zexter began giving chase.

However, a root sprouted out from the ground and coiled around one of his legs, causing him to fall face-flat onto the hard ground.

"HAHA! This skill is quite handy!" David thought to himself as he ran while laughing at the same time.

Meanwhile, Zexter did not have such a joyous time. When he awakened from fainting after falling down, he found he had a broken nose and countless scratches on his face as well as on his legs.

"Grrr... I will hunt you down and I will KILL YOU! I mean... ASK PEOPLE TO KILL YOU!"

Zexter was so angry, his face turned even redder than a riped apple while tears started coming out of his eyes due to the pain he felt.

He clenched his fist and pressed it upon the coarse, jagged ground and pushed himself up.

With one hand at his chin to ensure the blood does not make to much of a mess and the other hand finding objects to support him, he

limped home.

"Whew... I'm glad I got out of that without wasting too much time! I need to go back home to sleep! Tomorrow is the first day I start school after all!" David muttered to himself.

"Ah! Home sweet home!" David said out loud after reaching home. David then proceeded with his usual routine at night and went to bed.
