When Su Lin scanned through the new information, he was shocked. The notion that a male could also give birth came as a surprise to him. But he pressed down this emotion and looked down at his just birthed son.
The little boy was quite cute. He had soft, chubby cheeks that looked like you could squeeze water out of them if you pinched them. Messy dark brown hair covered his head as he was sleeping soundly.
"Sir, what would you like to name him?" A nurse asked by Su Lin's side.
Su Lin had to admit, he was smitten with his new baby boy after just holding him for a while. He gazed at the baby's sleeping face and thought for a moment.
"I will name him Quinn," Su Lin finally decided after much deliberation.
"It's a beautiful name," The nurse said with a smile.
"I know, that's why I picked it." Su Lin said with a smirk. He then gazed down at the sleeping figure of his son and cuddled him close to his chest. Laing back down on the bed, Su Lin closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep from the fatigue only to be woken up by loud crash.
Su Lin slowly sat up and watched as a man and a woman walked in in a fluster. The man had a crew cut and was wearing a plaid shirt and faded jeans while the woman was sporting a pixie cut and was wearing an over-washed blue dress.
They looked around the room as if they were trying to look for something. When their eyes fell Su Lin, both of their eyes lit up and they hurried over to his bed side. The woman reached over and smoothed Su Lin's messy hair down and smiled as relief washed over her.
"Sweetie, I'm glad to see that you're okay," The woman said with shining eyes.
"So am I," The man next to her spoke, "When I heard that you collapsed, It was really frightening." he said as he thought back to what had happened when he heard that he was going into labor.
"Especially with how weak and thin your body is." The woman said worriedly.
While Su Lin listened to them, he was having an inner conversation with System.
'System, who are these two,' Su Lin asked as he observed them ranting on.
"Host, these are the people who took you in after finding you in the alley. The woman is Rachel Pratt and the man is Ben Pratt." System explained.
Su Lin snapped out of his thoughts when Rachel shook him lightly. He widened his slightly droopy eyes and turned his face to look at the woman who had a face full of anticipation.
"Sweetie, can I please hold him." Rachel asked with her eyes on the still sleeping Quinn.
"Of course," Su Lin replied and gently passed the baby to the outstretched arms of Rachel.
When she received the little bundle, she held him close to her bosom and rocked him gently.
"He's so cute," Rachel cooed, "What did you name him?" she asked.
"I named him Quinn," Su Lin replied as he stared at Rachel twirling his baby around the room.
"Quinn," She repeated slowly to herself, "well he will certainly grow up into a handsome man in the future."
"Of course he will," Su Lin said smugly, "He's my son."
Ben, who was standing at the side observing the whole thing, let out a small chuckle. He then walked over to Rachel and spread out his arms in an obvious sign that he wanted to hold the baby Quinn too. Rachel complied, albeit reluctantly, and passed him the baby. He cradled him in his arms with a thoughtful look on his face.
"Honey," Ben said as he turned to Rachel who had walked back to Su Lin's bed and was patting down his pillow.
"What?" She asked.
"I know what I want for my birthday."
"And what is that?"
"A baby Quinn."
Rachel paused for a moment as his words sunk in. She then covered her cheeks because they had started to turn bright pink. She pouted at him and ignored.
"Wasn't it always you who said that raising a kid was troublesome." She snapped.
"It is," He said.
"Then why~," She started.
"They're cute," He said simply.
Su Lin watched their interaction in amusement. They seem to be a happy couple, he thought to himself. Their interaction also reminded him of the time he spent with Ye Ren, but he shook his head to clear out the depressing thoughts.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your happy moment but, can I have my baby back?" Su Lin said.
"Yes, sorry," Been said as he walked over to the bed and handed over baby Quinn to the waiting Su Lin.
Su Lin took him and was surprised as to how he could still be asleep with all that movement happening to him.
The nurses and doctors that were totally forgotten finally spoke and told him that they had to take the baby in for further testing to make sure that he was okay.
Su Lin complied and handed over baby Quinn to one of the nurses. Rachel and Been were then ushered out of the room because Su Lin needed to rest after that tiring ordeal.
After the room was emptied, leaving only him inside, Su Lin laid down on the bed and gradually drifted off into dream Land.
The next morning, a doctor in a white coat with gray hair cam into the room while Su Lin was eating breakfast and told him that something was wrong with baby Quinn.
"What happened?" Su Lin maintained a calm face while he was freaking out inside.
The doctor, who had introduced himself as Doctor Vin, was surprised at how Su Lin could still remain calm when knowing that his baby could possibly be inflicted with an illness.
"Well, when your child was born, it looks like he did not have enough blood in his system." The doctor explained slowly.
"I see, then you have to do a blood transfusion," Su Lin said.
"Yes we would but that's where the problem is, your child has a rare kind of blood type and we don't have it on hand. That's why I want to ask you, since you have the same blood type, if you could give some blood."
Su Lin then looked at him as if he were and idiot. "Of course I would do anything to help my baby, do you even need to ask."
"Okay, then we will do the transfusion now," the doctor said while inwardly he was crying. I was just following procedures, you don't have to look at me as if I'm missing half my brain.
