"These are just the basic abilities of the Sharingan," Akira said. Then, the tomoe in his eyes rapidly spun before merging into the shape of a shuriken. Everyone in the room, except Gojo Satoru, felt some degree of pressure. Yaga Masamichi, seeing Akira's eyes for the first time, was visibly astonished. (At that time, Akira had his back to the others.)
"This eye… it can evolve?" Yaga Masamichi asked in surprise.
"This is the Mangekyō Sharingan. You can think of it as a higher-level form of the Sharingan. Not only does it enhance the three abilities I mentioned earlier, but it also grants me two exclusive ocular jutsu," Akira explained.
"First, my left eye's ability—Kamui. You've already seen it this morning—intangibility and teleportation. But calling it 'intangibility' isn't exactly accurate. In reality, I don't turn intangible at all. Instead, when you try to touch me, my body is automatically transferred to another dimension—what I call the Kamui Dimension. This space is unique to me, and when I make contact with others, I can also transfer them into it."
"If the left eye serves as a support ability, the right eye's Kamui is more offensive in nature. It can distort or teleport anything within my field of vision. That's how I was able to 'twist' Gojo's head earlier. Since it's a space-based ability, Gojo's Infinity technique is ineffective against it. However, activating it takes time, which makes it practically useless against Gojo," Akira elaborated.
"Can you not use me as an example?" Gojo grumbled in annoyance.
"Does it matter? We're friends, Gojo," Akira said nonchalantly.
"Hmph." Gojo clicked his tongue.
"Then, tell us about other types of Mangekyō Sharingan," Gojo inquired. Based on what Akira had explained, he knew that aside from Tsukuyomi, there had to be other abilities.
Hearing this, Akira didn't hold back. His eyes shifted once again, revealing a new pattern.
"This pair is also a Mangekyō Sharingan, but it amplifies my genjutsu even further. My left eye has Tsukuyomi, while my right eye has the ultimate genjutsu—Kotoamatsukami (altered). This ability has two functions. The first is [Kotoamatsukami: Light], which allows me to subtly and permanently alter a person's thoughts without them even realizing it. However, this ability is impractical because of its absurd cooldown—I can only use it once every five years. The second ability, which I personally find more useful, is [Kotoamatsukami: Izanagi]. It's an ocular jutsu that grants true invincibility."
At this point, Akira paused to take a sip of water.
"Oh? An invincible technique? Now I really want to see it, don't you, Geto?" Gojo grinned.
"Indeed. If Akira calls it 'invincible,' it must be something incredible. I'd love to witness it firsthand," Geto nodded, a smile forming on his lips.
"Witness my ass! I'm not going to use it," Akira said, exasperated.
"Oh? Explain why," Yaga Masamichi prompted.
"This technique rewrites reality. Any negative event that happens to me during its activation simply 'never occurred.' Only beneficial outcomes remain. For approximately one minute, I am truly invincible," Akira explained before pausing. "Even death itself can be reversed."
"Wait a second—is this still considered genjutsu?" Geto asked in shock. Gojo, who had remained unimpressed until now, finally showed genuine surprise. The ability to negate even death? That was beyond anything he had anticipated.
"Yes. I simply convert all unfavorable events into illusions," Akira confirmed with a nod.
"And what's the price?" Gojo asked, his expression serious.
"The price? My eye goes completely blind. That's why this technique is ultimately impractical and unnecessary," Akira said casually.
"Well, that makes sense. After all, we are the strongest. How could we possibly find ourselves in a situation where we need to rely on something like that?" Gojo patted Geto's shoulder, grinning at the two of them.
The three exchanged knowing smiles. Confidence burned in their eyes—they never once considered the possibility of losing to anyone.
"Alright, do you have any other abilities?" Yaga asked.
"Oh, right—the lightning ability. That one is mainly linked to my unique cursed energy. By slightly modifying my innate technique, I can mimic some elemental attacks. But it's impractical because I can't use my Sharingan while employing it, which makes it a bit of a letdown," Akira admitted.
"I wouldn't call it a letdown. Your ocular abilities excel in one-on-one combat, but when dealing with hordes of cursed spirits, Geto and Gojo have the advantage. Having lightning-based attacks would make you more versatile," Geto commented. Though he spoke matter-of-factly, there was a trace of envy in his voice. His Cursed Spirit Manipulation technique was undeniably powerful, but he was personally weaker in direct combat. Moreover, he could only extract a cursed spirit's technique after refining its remains—a process he hadn't fully mastered yet. (A sorcerer can only use one Domain Expansion and one innate technique at a time.)
"That's true. Akira's abilities work well against one or two enemies, but against Geto's fighting style, he'd struggle," Gojo mused.
"Tch, what nonsense! I excel in group battles too! And Geto, what's with that look?" Akira growled.
"Oh? Prove it then. Your lightning ability is decent, but at best, it's around Grade 2 level," Gojo teased, sounding smug as if he were stronger than Akira.
"Tch. This isn't the place to demonstrate. Follow me," Akira said. The group had finished their meal anyway.
"Kamui."
Their surroundings distorted, and before anyone could react, they found themselves in a vast, dark space filled with massive square pillars.
"So, this is the Kamui Dimension?" Yaga Masamichi examined their surroundings.
"Yes," Akira confirmed.
"Alright, Geto, summon some cursed spirits," Akira said.
"Fine. Cursed Spirit Manipulation." Instantly, over a dozen Grade 3 cursed spirits materialized.
"Amaterasu!"
Akira's eyes shifted once again. This time, jet-black flames erupted, engulfing the spirits in an instant. Blood-red tears streamed down his face.
"Hey, don't you think that was a bit much?" Geto rolled his eyes.
"Black flames… and such an incredibly high temperature," Yaga muttered in awe.
"No big deal. You don't need to refine Grade 3 spirits anyway. Next time, I'll get you some Grade 1 ones," Akira replied. However, one of the burning cursed spirits moved dangerously close to Shoko.
"Shoko, move!" Without hesitation, Akira accelerated, positioning himself in front of her and pulling her out of harm's way.
"I'm fine, Akira," Shoko said, a little surprised. Though she found his reaction excessive, she couldn't help feeling touched.
"Yeah, Akira, did you forget that Shoko can use Reverse Cursed Technique? She's pretty hard to kill," Gojo teased, a sly grin on his face as he glanced between the two of them.
"Scumbag," Shoko muttered under her breath, glaring at Gojo.
"Even so, it's better to avoid unnecessary risks. Amaterasu's flames can't be extinguished. Their temperature is extremely high, and cursed energy only accelerates their combustion. The only way to stop them is to sever the affected body part. That's… painful, isn't it?" Akira said calmly.
