Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Kamui

"My name is Shoko Ieiri. I like drinking, and my ability is Reversed Cursed Technique," Shoko said softly, keeping her introduction brief.

"Reversed Cursed Technique, huh? Would you mind if I asked you about its applications later?" Akira spoke up at this moment. He had never been able to grasp the concept of Reversed Cursed Technique, no matter how hard he tried. Even with his Sharingan, he couldn't comprehend how negative energy transformed into positive energy.

"Sure," Shoko replied indifferently, though a hint of confusion flashed in her eyes. Is Reversed Cursed Technique really that hard?

Gojo Satoru rolled his eyes at Shoko. He knew exactly how helpful her explanations were.

"Alright, next person," Yaga Masamichi announced.

"My name is Geto Suguru. I was born into a non-sorcerer family, and my inherited technique is Cursed Spirit Manipulation. It allows me to control and subjugate cursed spirits. For grade three or four curses, I don't even need to subjugate them—I can control them directly," Geto explained.

"Is there a limit?" Akira asked.

"There shouldn't be," Geto said, though he didn't sound entirely certain. His response shocked the others.

"My name is Uchiha Akira. I don't have anything I particularly like to do or eat. My inherited technique is the Sharingan Cursed Technique, primarily focused on illusions," Akira said calmly.

"Illusions? What's that?" Shoko looked at Akira curiously.

"In short, it creates an illusionary world where the enemy becomes trapped," Akira explained.

"Tch, that's it? Don't tell me you've actually managed to kill a semi-special grade with just that," Gojo scoffed. He had been somewhat impressed by Geto's ability, but only mildly. As for Akira's technique, it sounded impressive in theory, but he had encountered illusion-based sorcerers before. His Six Eyes granted him immunity, and even if they didn't, his immense cursed energy made it nearly impossible to trap him in an illusion.

Akira merely glanced at Gojo, ignoring his provocation. His Kamui ability made him as untouchable as Gojo himself, meaning neither could land a hit on the other. Moreover, Kamui disregarded distance, rendering Gojo's Infinity defense useless. Of course, damaging Gojo was no easy task either—after all, he could teleport, a technique even faster than the Flying Thunder God.

"Enough, Gojo. Let's move on. Now, let's see your abilities in action. Shoko, you'll spar with Akira," Yaga announced.

It was clear that Yaga was underestimating Akira.

"Yes," the two responded simultaneously.

Though Shoko specialized in Reversed Cursed Technique, her physical combat skills weren't bad either—after all, Yaga's cursed corpses made for excellent sparring partners.

"Begin!"

Both stood still at first. Akira's eyes flashed red, while Shoko's cursed energy surged as she charged at him. Akira sidestepped her attack, and the two engaged in close combat. Spotting an opening, Shoko deliberately left a feint. Akira took the bait and was swiftly defeated.

"This is the guy who supposedly took down a semi-special grade curse?" Shoko remarked. However, she hadn't even used her technique yet. She instinctively took a defensive stance.

But seeing Gojo cheering from the sidelines, she had a strange feeling—Was this really Akira's full strength?

"No… No. His ability is illusion-based," Shoko's eyes widened in realization.

In reality, from the moment Yaga said "Begin," Shoko had never moved at all. She had been standing still the entire time. Meanwhile, Akira had slowly walked toward her.

"Shoko, what are you doing?" Yaga's voice rang out.

"Wait, her cursed energy is chaotic," Gojo observed through his Six Eyes, noticing Shoko's energy fluctuating erratically.

Akira ignored them, stepping closer and gently tapping Shoko's forehead. At that moment, her unfocused eyes regained clarity.

"You lost," Akira said indifferently.

Shoko looked around in confusion.

"Relax, you're not in an illusion anymore," Akira reassured her.

"What… What just happened? When did you trap me in an illusion?" Shoko asked in shock. She had entered it unknowingly—had this been a real fight, she would've been killed without ever realizing it.

"The moment you looked into my eyes, you were already caught," Akira said as he closed his eyes, then reopened them. His deep black pupils were replaced by a pair of blood-red eyes, three tomoe spinning in sync. Even without actively using his illusion technique, his gaze was almost hypnotic.

"Those eyes are terrifying," Shoko murmured. If Gojo's Six Eyes were a symbol of purity and brilliance, then Akira's Sharingan embodied everything ominous and cursed in this world.

Gojo's expression turned serious. His arrogance faded as he gazed at Akira. At that moment, he acknowledged Akira as someone on the same level as himself and Geto—perhaps even more dangerous. His Six Eyes told him as much.

"So, that's your ability? No… there's more to it than just illusions, isn't there, Akira?" For the first time, Gojo removed his sunglasses and addressed Akira by name.

"Yeah, illusions are just one part of it. After all, I have to be gentle when dealing with a lady," Akira replied, his three-tomoe Sharingan locking eyes with Gojo's brilliant Six Eyes. Battle intent flared between them.

"If you guys don't calm down, this is going to be a real problem," Geto interjected, his cursed energy surging and filling the area with a suffocating presence.

Akira and Gojo turned to look at him. The three of them exchanged glances—then all of them grinned. Yet, their fighting spirit didn't fade. If anything, it intensified.

Yaga watched them, smiling slightly. These three… They would undoubtedly become giants in the sorcerer world.

"Sensei, aren't you going to stop them?" Shoko cautiously hid behind Yaga.

"No need. I'd like to see their full power too," Yaga replied. After all, they'd be going on missions together in the future.

"Cursed Spirit Manipulation: Rainbow Dragon!" A massive dragon-like cursed spirit materialized and lunged toward Akira and Gojo.

Gojo raised his hand, and in an instant, the dragon disintegrated into nothingness.

"Chidori Current," Akira's body crackled with lightning as he instantly obliterated the remaining spirits.

Then—

"Thunder Dragon!" Akira called forth two massive dragons of pure electricity, sending them hurtling toward Gojo and Geto.

Gojo didn't even try to dodge.

Geto immediately summoned a lightning-infused cursed spirit, which devoured the Thunder Dragons in one gulp.

"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue."

A powerful repelling force surged forward, drawing Geto toward Gojo. Akira, however, remained unaffected, still standing firmly in place. Gojo's eyebrows lifted slightly in surprise.

Even so, he punched Geto, who barely had time to summon a cursed spirit in defense. The spirit shattered instantly upon contact, and Geto, crossing his arms in front of him, was sent flying backward.

"What insane strength," Geto thought, stunned.

"Blue," Gojo activated his ability again, preparing to pull Geto toward him once more.

But before he could, Akira suddenly appeared between them, lightning crackling around him. Gojo didn't hesitate, throwing a punch at Akira.

At the same time—

"Cursed Spirit Manipulation: Rainbow Dragon!" Another dragon lunged at Akira.

However, to everyone's shock, both the dragon and Gojo's fist passed right through Akira's body as if he weren't even there.

And at that moment, the battlefield truly descended into chaos.
