Chapter 1 - 001

Later, my mother devoted herself to leukemia research and achieved great success in her career.

She even adopted a well-behaved and sensible daughter.

When we met again, it was at a leukemia seminar hosted by my mother.

She looked at me lying on the demonstration table and sneered.

"Jiang Yuexia, this is not a place for you to cause trouble."

"Get up right now and get out!"

Upon hearing this, the host beside her was stunned.

"Dr. Xia, do you know this cadaveric teacher?"

My mother let out a mocking laugh.

"How much did she pay you to play along with her act?"

The host was at a loss.

"Dr. Xia… Miss Jiang Yuexia passed away three days ago..."

"I remember today is Qingming Festival, not April Fool's Day, right?"

"The special effects makeup on Jiang Yuexia is quite realistic—I almost believed it."

As she spoke, her gaze swept over my face imperceptibly, flashing a brief moment of panic.

Finally, she forced out a stiff smile.

"So, is this joke meant to be a surprise or a shock?"

The host cast a pleading glance at the nearby reporters.

A reporter stepped onto the stage and took the microphone from the host.

"Dr. Xia, I'll answer that question for you in just a moment."

She turned to face the audience.

"Next, we'll play a message left by our cadaveric teacher."

The large screen on stage began playing a video.

In the video, I sat on a beach, looking into the camera.

"Hello, everyone. I'm Jiang Yuexia. I love sunshine, the sky, and the ocean. So, look! Isn't the sea behind me beautiful?"

"I actually wanted to come here for a vacation with my mom and dad."

"But that's no longer possible. It's okay, though—I brought photos of my parents. This way, it's like they're still with me."

Carefully, I took a photo out of my bag and held it up to the camera.

"Oh, and my mom is an amazing woman. Also—"

Before I could finish, I suddenly tilted my head back and collapsed.

The camera shook violently, and panicked voices could be heard off-screen.

"She fainted! Hurry! Get her to the hospital!"

"I told you not to let her come, and you still let her!"

In the next moment, my face reappeared on the screen, making a playful grimace.

"Haha! I tricked you, didn't I?"

I laughed, but my eyes turned red.

"Mom, I love you. I love you so, so much."

The video froze on the moment I started crying.

My mother's face remained expressionless.

"Reporter Tian, this is an academic seminar, not some family reunion show."

The audience erupted into murmurs.

"Isn't that Dr. Xia's daughter? I heard Jiang Yuexia was a successful match for her father. If she had just gone through with the bone marrow transplant, her father wouldn't have died."

"Such an ungrateful child—she wouldn't even save her own father."

"Why is she pulling this stunt at a medical conference now?"

"Maybe she wants money now that Dr. Xia is famous."

"Wait… Could this cadaveric teacher really be Jiang Yuexia?"

"If she's dead, then she deserved it. She refused to save her father—this is just karma."

But I never refused to donate my bone marrow. I wasn't even eligible.

If I could, I would have traded my own life for my father's health.

Hearing the discussion from the audience, my mother's expression changed. She was just about to reach out to touch my body when Tian Yao suddenly spoke, interrupting her movement.

"Dr. Xia, please watch the entire documentary first."

"We hope that through Miss Jiang Yuexia's cancer journey, everyone can truly step into the world of leukemia patients."

The screen shifted, and a burst of chaotic music filled the room.
