When I opened my eyes again, everything before me was blurry, and I struggled to make a sound.

"Am I dead? Is this heaven or hell?"

"Jiang Yuexia, you're finally awake..."

Tian Yao's voice sounded beside me.

I blinked, and my vision slowly became clearer.

It turned out I was still lying in the hospital bed.

I let out a defeated sigh.

"Tian Yao, next time, don't save me. Death would be a relief for me."

"You're talking nonsense again. You'll definitely recover!"

Tian Yao tightly held my hand.

Then, she kept pulling out things from her bag.

"This is a peace talisman I got for you at the temple."

"This is a crystal bracelet for good health."

"This small peach wood sword is to drive away illness."

"And this gourd is said to be good for health."

"Lastly, this vermilion is a substance used in ancient times to make pills for immortality."

I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

She wiped away the tears from the corner of my eye, her voice sincere.

"Didn't they say the end of science is mysticism?"

"Let's try again together, okay?"

I turned to look out the window, trying to hold back my tears.

In the end, I replied with a nasal voice.

"Okay."

The hospital bed was empty.

Tian Yao, along with the cameraman, found me crouching in the corner of the corridor.

"Jiang Yuexia."

Upon hearing Tian Yao call me, I made a "shh" gesture toward her and pointed to the figure ahead in the corridor.

"That's my mom. She's here to study and exchange knowledge."

"My mom is a doctor now. Isn't she amazing?"

Tian Yao whispered, asking me, "Do you want to see her?"

Without hesitation, I shook my head.

"No, now she can fully devote herself to her dream. I can't hold her back."

"My mom will become the best doctor in the world."

When my mom's figure disappeared, I stood up, preparing to leave, but suddenly had a violent coughing fit.

I coughed up a pool of blood.

Everything went dark, and I fainted into Tian Yao's arms.

"Jiang Yuexia!"

"Don't scare me!"

I tried to respond, but I couldn't open my eyes.

They lifted me onto a stretcher.

The camera followed closely as the stretcher was wheeled down the corridor.

As the stretcher passed, it brushed past my mother.

When she turned her head to look back, my face was hidden by the doctor.

But outside the camera, we could hear my mother's voice.

"Who is this patient?"

"Ah, the one with leukemia? Well, it's already in the advanced stages. There's little hope of treatment."

Her voice carried a tone of sorrow.

"Such a young person, such a pity."
