"So this is Godnet...is it?"
A blue-robed man, about 20 years old, with black hair and blood-red eyes, was sitting on a chair inside his room and looking at the screen in front of him. He had been in this world for three days.
His name was Desmond Smith. At least, in this life.
Until just three days ago, Alan had been a professor living in the modern world. The youngest professor in history, he had achieved this rank at the age of 19.
He was a young man with no ambitions in the world. He excelled in chemistry, biology, physics, maths and many other fields.
Nevertheless, achieving everything at a young age made him no longer want anything else in life. He was sick and tired of living. Every day he would go give his lesson and head straight back home.
He didn't have friends, he didn't have family. He was all alone. Even tho he kinda have a family they were just people who were using him for fame.
One day, however, everything changed.
In his sleep, Alan met a very tidy man who looked like a medieval nobleman. This person was Desmond Smith himself.
Desmond came from a different world. Like Alan, he had achieved almost everything in his world. He was seen as one of the 7 Sages in the world.
Even the most perfect members of the imperial family, from the murderous and cruel emperors to the kindest of hearts, were respectful to the Sages.
But Desmond, unlike all Sages, was unable to use magic.
The main reason he was considered a Sage was that there were only ancient monsters in the world with as much knowledge as he had.
In short, he was the only human being who could communicate with other creatures that were seen as godly and knew so much.
The Seventh Sage, Desmond Smith.
When Alan met Desmond and had a long talk with him, he was able to agree with the things he heard, although he thought it was all a dream:
"Take my body, everything I have will be yours and you can continue your life here, my memories, my personality and everything will belong to you, my wealth and all my possessions, you just have to accept my request."
"Firstly, let's go through what you said. My soul will enter your body so that you can die and, as you say, be reborn in another world. In this way, I will go to a world full of fun and knowledge that I can learn as I wish, and on top of that, I will work as a professor in a world full of magic. Is that so? Basically, I will know everything you knew and I will live like you but with my mind and with your memories, well you said some of your memories since you want me to have fun. Am I right?"
"Exactly, killing myself directly doesn't help this reincarnation, instead, I'm going to hell, so if I put someone else's soul in my body and my soul and body are disconnected, I'll enter the reincarnation cycle, so it's a win-win for both of us, don't you think?"
Alan had of course agreed to the deal after all this talk. What maniac would refuse to walk through the door that had been opened to him when he was fed up with life?
Of course, with this, Alan in the modern world was gone by now, he would continue his life as Desmond Smith in the world of magic, and all his memories were there. The name Alen had been erased.
And what he was looking at sitting on the chair in his room was something called [GODNET].
There was no such thing in the memories of Desmond, so that made everything confusing, but it was clear that he was very excited. He had discovered this exactly three days after arriving here.
Alan, or Desmond with his new name, of course, had no idea about magic, and Desmond had never had any talent for magic, after all, he didn't have a magic heart. Just the real Desmond knew a lot of it yet it was not enough to make a magic heart.
It could be said that he was the only Sage in the world who could not use magic. This was indeed an incredible achievement. It was unprecedented in hundreds of thousands of years of magic history.
Desmond, of course, had thoroughly observed the library in his mansion and was literally fidgeting with excitement among the hundreds of books he had never seen before.
After all, even with the memory of the real Desmond he still was excited to see new things he could learn. Since the real Desmond sealed some of his memories to make sure he can have the fun of learning things again.
Still, he had chosen to focus on the memories in the body, the real Desmond's memories, rather than everything in the present, after all, he had something to teach in the academy so he needed to remember everything he could.
And still, despite all that, he wanted to find out what this [Godnet] thing he had just discovered was and what it did.
It looked like an internet browser.
Desmond had directly submitted the question "What is magic and how to use it?" to the search engine and then clicked on the first link that came up. Even tho he knew the answer to this question since he was a Sage, even tho he could not use magic he of course was aware of it.
"Seriously? The internet...Puhaha..." Desmond muttered, not remembering the last time he had laughed like that.
Desmond paused for a few seconds when he saw what was written on the link he had clicked on, and then added, "No kidding?"
[Merlin, God of Sorcerers, is here!
Do you want to know what magic is?
Perhaps you wish you knew something about how to use magic.

Or maybe you just want to be like the others but better at the same time.
With just one subscription, you can learn it all! Go to the link below to subscribe to my website and benefit from my wisdom].
After reading all that, Desmond directly clicked on the link below the annotated post and the browser in front of him started to load again.
In just a short time, he managed to land on a site called MagicNMerlin and without waiting, he searched for a way to subscribe. He wanted to test how things worked.
He saw that the way to subscribe for only a short time was 10000 gold and smiled at that moment and said "Alright." He smiled and went towards the safe in his room.
After opening the safe, he took out several large gold pouches and managed to create his subscription in a short time. Immediately after that, a call window appeared in front of his eyes.
That kind of money usage didn't bother him, he was one of the richest Sages.
As he was shocked he saw that call panel or window and saw that it was Merlin who was calling him.
As soon as he had straightened his hair a little, he accepted the call and a television screen of perhaps 190 centimetres appeared in front of him, at which point Merlin's voice was heard:
"Hello there, dear little god! I must say that this is the first time I have seen you, you must be using an anonymous account or perhaps a god from a little world! That must be what it means since I can't see your name! It is a pleasure to meet you, thank you for choosing me among so many gods and goddesses. I am very happy to hear that someone is attending my classes, at last!"
Desmond had no idea what to say, Merlin, who was part of the legends in his world, was considered a god in the Godnet browser.
"Hello Merlin, my name is Desmond, it's normal that you don't know my name, just like you said I am just from a tiny little world. It's nice to meet you, I've heard your name a lot and read a lot about you, I'm not sure I want to learn magic from anyone else but you," said Desmond, he was really happy that he would be able to learn something after so many years instead of him being the one to teach.
Merlin was filled with pride as he looked at the search window in front of him and listened to Desmond's words, even if Desmond didn't know it, he had been advertising for years and trying to get someone to subscribe to him.
He didn't realise how much even a single subscriber could do for the gods.
"Then I'd like to start our first lesson, if you're up for it, we can start right away!" Merlin said, the smile beneath his bushy beard showing just a little.
"I don't think you need to explain to me exactly what magic is, I just need to know how to use it, unfortunately, I don't have a magic heart, so I won't be able to use it, but I can try to explain it to my students."
Merlin shook his head from side to side when he heard these words and said, "A magic heart is something you are born with, young God, but there is no rule that it cannot be obtained, it is possible to create a magic heart with simple materials."
Desmond blinked his eyes once or twice when he heard those words and realised that he had never come across such a thing in his memories, Desmond's soul had done a great deal of research before entering the reincarnation cycle but without any results. After all the real Desmond tried it once and died almost.
"Is it... possible?" asked Desmond.
"Of course, we will start the lessons after! Keep these ingredients in mind, if you can find them you may be able to turn your heart into a heart of mana or rather magic, depending on how you see it," Merlin replied and with that, he began to explain:
"One Moonlight flower, one Spirit Essence, one drop of World Tear, and finally ten drops of dragon blood. The purer the dragon blood, the better the potion will be."
"After you have found all these ingredients, you need to find a cauldron, fill the cauldron, then pour in the Spirit Essence, the petals of the Moonlight flower, and after three hours of boiling, pour all the dragon blood into the cauldron. At this point, things will get very serious, as the dragon's blood will be alive if it is pure, so you will add a drop of World Tear and let it steep for a day. Only a vial or so will remain."
After Merlin's explanations, Desmond stood up and then said, "I know how to find these items, Mr Merlin, with your permission, I would like to continue your teachings after I have the magic heart as you said."
Of course, he knew where to find all of these things, he was a Sage and he was the lone Sage that was being called "The Sage of Wisdom".
There was not much he didn't know, normally it would be boring since he knew everything but now [GODNET] changed everything. There were many gods he could meet and dozens of things he could learn.
Merlin smiled, shook his head, and said "I think that would be better, but you should not forget, this is a hard product to achieve so you must be careful. And it will hurt like hell." after that he left the call window.
With this, Desmond learnt how to use Godnet and became more excited and fidgety than he had ever been in his 25 years of life.
He had hundreds of thousands of students to teach and a whole world to hold in his hands. Desmond Smith, at the bottom of the Sage ranking, would eventually have everything under his control, in a good way of course.
