Chapter 2 - Imperial Palace

When the conversation was over, Desmond took off his clothes and then, after preparing the water in the bathtub, he took a shower, enjoying himself.

He then put on some nice clothes and left his room.

As he walked through the huge mansion, he passed dozens of servants, wizards and knights and had to smile at each of them.

The original owner of this body was quite serious, but he was just as friendly to everyone close to him. Just like Alan, he had no family and was an orphan. He got to where he is now by his labour, by his hard work.

While all this information was constantly flowing in his head, suddenly a voice came from the top of the stairs:

"Good morning sir, you are finally out of your room, you have not locked yourself in your room for a long time, don't worry, I have already informed the academy, and they have given you permission for as long as you want. For the first time in history, a Sage is doing what you are doing. None of them have ever voluntarily taught at an academy before, especially in a subject they don't know anything about."

The voice belonged to Kris, Desmond's head butler, the leader of all the servants, mages and knights in the manor. Kris was an incredibly powerful sorcerer, other than Sages he was in the top 10 around the world. When Desmond saved his life with his skills as a doctor, Kris had been under his command and had not said a word about it for ten years.

"Thank you Kris, please prepare the carriage, I need to go to the White Palace." Desmond suddenly muttered.

Desmond was trying to keep himself as calm as possible, he must not let anyone know that the owner of this body had changed, he had had a long talk with the real Desmond about it, it would be quite normal for him to be killed if what was considered a major crime in this world was discovered.

"Yes sir, please wait in the living room, I will carry out your orders," Kriss replied, not seeming to suspect anything.

In short, Desmond still seemed to be the same Desmond, which was a good thing.

After a short wait, the carriage arrived in front of the mansion, and Desmond got on the carriage with Kris and headed towards the White Palace, where the imperial family of the Epsilon Empire was staying.

Desmond was the only Sage living in the capital of the empire, which made his value high.

His body was moving with excitement because he didn't have all the memories, and he didn't know what to do with excitement. The original owner of the body had erased some memories, he had made that clear in the deal, which gave the new owner the pleasure of regaining them.

The only reason this happened was because Alan wanted it to happen, the desire to learn things for the first time was ingrained in his soul.

After almost half an hour's carriage ride, the carriage finally came to a stop. Desmond and Kris got out of the carriage.

Desmond's eyes sparkled as he looked around him, his blood-red eyes paused at the splendour of the palace that was literally moving towards the sky and piercing the clouds.

All the history books he had read in the modern world had described the splendour of palaces and the beauty of other empires and kingdoms.

Now he was able to look with his naked eyes at a place that was a hundred times more beautiful than he had ever imagined.

"Welcome Desmond, we didn't expect you to come here suddenly, we couldn't make the necessary preparations." he suddenly heard a voice.

When he looked where the voice came from, he saw a man with brown hair and golden eyes, maybe 40, maybe 45 years old.

This man was Aether, the current emperor of the Epsilon Empire with over a hundred thousand years of history.

"I apologise for my sudden arrival, but I have come to ask you for a favour, I can tell you that I have come here to ask for a few valuable items," Desmond replied.

With that, the emperor and Desmond entered the palace.

He could feel the splendour of the palace with every step he took.

Once they were seated in one of the seats at the entrance Emperor Aether gave a few orders to the servants and soon the table in front of Desmond was full.

"Please, tell me exactly what you want, I am happy to help a Sage and to be offered the possibility of helping my best friend. I would like to help in any way in my power," Aether said suddenly.

Yes, Aether and Desmond were close friends, because Desmond had once saved the Emperor's life.

To put it briefly, Desmond was very good at everything except using magic, and that was because when the emperor was poisoned, no one could or would help him, but he did. He saved the Dragon Gods of the Epsilon Empire while saving Aether after all.

The princess of the empire knew that the Sages hated those who begged them, but she sat in the rain in front of Desmond's mansion for a whole day, wishing for him to save her father's life.

Desmond eventually fulfilled this wish. He saved Aether's life, just as he had Kris.

From that moment on, Desmond became a family friend.

"What I want from you is one Moonlight flower, one Spirit Essence, one drop of World Tear and ten drops of pure dragon blood, the purer the better," Desmond replied.

With his words, the smile on the emperor's face disappeared, because two of the items on this list were poisonous, at least to humans.

Of course, every single one of these items was in the imperial palace and only dragon blood was considered a rare commodity but not for Epsilon Empire. After all this Empire was one of the few places even the Dragon Gods were loving to live.

Still, what the emperor wanted to know was what these items would be used for.

Desmond smiled when he saw this expression and then said, "I will try again Aether."

With these words of his, not only Aether but also Kris standing behind Desmond and the servants, knights and wizards around were stunned.

Aether suddenly stood up and shouted with clenched fists:

"ARE YOU CRAZY?!"

Desmond had not expected this shout, yet he could understand why Aether had shouted like that. This would not be the first time, in his opinion, that Desmond had tried this.

There had been a time when Desmond had tried to create his own magic heart, or mana heart as it was also called...
