Chapter 20 (FINALE!!)
Hugo blushed at Varian's confession as he asked in shock, "Wait.. W-What??" Varian smiled as he explained, "When I almost died and I closed my eyes.. You said that you loved me, and I've tried so hard to fight that feeling because of your arrogant and cynical facade, but I just couldn't so.. I love you too Hugo." Hugo smiled as he kissed on the cheek Varian to his surprise. He quickly pulled away and saw the shock on Varian's face, Varian's cheeks burning. "Oh.. I'm sorry, you didn't like it, did you??" Hugo apologized sadly with embarrassment. "Are you kidding?! I loved it, and I'm about to do it again." Varian teased and they shared a bittersweet kiss on the lips. "EEEEE!!" Rapunzel cheered in the distance as the two pulled away. "Princess!" Varian groaned. "Varian.." Quirin said. "Oh um.. I'll be back, Hugo.." Varian told him as he slowly walked up to his father, unsure how he felt about his liking boys and girls. "H-Hey Dad, are you even more ashamed of me now?" He asked disappointedly, expecting judgement from him. "Son, I've never been ashamed of you, I was just so upset with you in that moment, but I swear on my life that I'm honored to have such a special kid as my child." Quirin apologized, "And as for you liking a boy, I completely support you with all of my heart." Varian was surprised, he thought liking both genders would be something that would be shamed for. "But you don't understand Dad, I thought I liked girls, but then I fell in love with Hugo somehow and.." Varian clarified but he was interrupted by Rapunzel and she told him, "Well, it's sounds like you're just bisexual! You probably just never known about this because it's quite new anywhere in the world." Varian felt comfortable when hearing this, but he asked, "Are you sure you guys are okay with this?" The two nodded and he hugged both of them. Hugo smiled back at them when he heard a familiar voice, "Go on Hugo, join him if you really care so much about them." Hugo turned to see Donella, but why was she being nice?? "I thought you were disappointed that I show feelings now, Donella." He retorted. "Listen, I was wrong Hugo, I just, haven't been able to trust emotions since I lost Ulla and." Donella explained. "Donella??" Quirin asked in that moment. "Quirin." She said. Varian glared at her as his eyes turned black. "Varian.." Rapunzel warned. He relaxed and his eyes returned to normal. "Quirin, I'm sorry that I cursed Ulla, but I had no idea what else to do in that moment, she was scaring me and.." Donella established. "I forgive you Donella, you did what you had to do and, when she was like that, I didn't recognize her at all.." Quirin assured her. "And Varian.." Donella started. Varian walked up to the gates alongside of Hugo and Quirin as Rapunzel followed him. "Varian, I apologize for taking your mother away from you, and for trying to keep her away from you last night, me and Hugo were only trying to protect you and the Dark Kingdom." Donella told the boy. "I understand you were just trying to defend me now, so I forgive you as well." Varian confirmed. Then, the group heard groaning coming from Ulla in the distance as she began to wake up, so Varian freed her from the black rocks. "Quirin?? What happened, where am I?" She mumbled. "Ulla? Is it really you?" He asked. She nodded and he ran to embrace her. "I'm very sorry for the damage I've caused, the dark magic just went to my head and I just went mad.." She apologized. "It's okay darling, it was out of your control.." Quirin told her. "Mom?" Varian asked, a little bit of anger in his tone. "Varian, my boy, I am deeply sorry, the thing that tried to have you dead was never me, it was the magic that twisted my mind, I wish I got to watch you grow up, but I didn't." Ulla confessed. Varian hesitated, but knowing this was the true her, she was how his father originally described her, she was like an angel. "It could take me a little bit to trust you, considering I haven't met you until last night, but I forgive you Mother." He told his Mom. Donella was gone when they looked back. Varian and Hugo smiled at each other as they hugged.
EPILOGUE..
It was the Royal Ball reception of now Queen Rapunzel and Eugene's wedding, of which Varian, his parents and Hugo attended. The reception was a masquerade and Hugo asked Varian to dance with him. "Oh no um.. I am terrible at dancing, so thank you but no thank you.." Varian nervously and kindly declined but Hugo ignored him and took his by his waist anyways. The two waltzed together as they looked into each other's eyes lovingly but Varian felt the need to vent a little while they danced. "Hugo.. I need to say something." He started. "Is everything okay Goggles?" Hugo asked suspiciously. "I've just been thinking about what my mother said about me born to be evil and that all I do in the end is cause destruction and pain and hurt, and I just wanted to know if you believe that.. that I'm dangerous, especially when you said you were afraid of me.." Varian told him. "Goggles, I swear, that I was scared of ULLA, not you, it wasn't you when you tried to attack me, we both know that." Hugo assured him. "But you shouldn't have forgave me for it, regardless if it was me or not, I could've killed you!" Varian protested. "But you didn't Varian, I love you, no matter what comes of you." Hugo comforted. Varian looked back at the moon, smirking at it, knowing he was accepted and then looked at Hugo, taking off his mask and saying, "I know Hugo, I already know." THE END!!!
