Chereads / The Clumsy Café Chronicles / Chapter 20 - Counting Their Fortune

Chapter 20 - Counting Their Fortune

Late at night, the three boys sat cross-legged on the café floor, a small wooden box placed between them.

Leo excitedly grabbed a handful of crumpled bills and shiny coins. "Alright, let's count!"

Haru and Riku nodded quickly, their eyes sparkling.

They carefully spread out the money and started counting one by one.

"One… two… five… ten… WHOA, twenty!"

After a few minutes, Haru clapped his hands together. "That's it! We made… forty-six dollars today!"

The room fell silent for a moment.

Then—

"FORTY-SIX DOLLARS?!" they all shouted at once.

Haru grabbed Leo's shoulders and shook him. "LEO! We're RICH!!"

Leo laughed loudly. "Yes! We can buy so much ice cream with this!"

Riku, always the most serious, crossed his arms. "No, no. We should save it. This is our café's money!"

Leo and Haru pouted. "But we worked hard…"

Riku thought for a second. "Okay, let's spend a little! But only a little!"

The three cheered, quickly stuffing the money back into the box.

Just as they were about to plan what to buy, the door to the café creaked open.

A familiar voice called out—

"Still awake?"

The boys froze.

It was Renji.

With their small fortune of forty-six dollars, the three boys ran through the town, excited for their next adventure.

"First, ice cream!" Leo declared, pointing at a colorful ice cream shop.

They each bought a big cone, licking it happily as they walked down the street.

Haru, munching on his ice cream, suddenly had an idea. "Hey… We have so much money! Why don't we go to the amusement park?"

Riku's eyes sparkled. "The one with all the rides?"

Leo jumped in excitement. "YES! Let's go!"

Without thinking twice, they rushed to the bus stop and hopped on a bus to the city.

After a short ride, they arrived at the bright and colorful amusement park. The boys gasped in amazement.

"SO MANY LIGHTS!" Haru twirled in circles, staring at the glowing signs.

Leo grabbed their hands. "Come on! Let's go on the biggest ride first!"

They ran toward a huge spinning ride, its lights flashing as people screamed with excitement.

The boys handed over some of their money and got on.

As the ride started spinning, Haru screamed dramatically, holding onto Riku. "I REGRET THIS!"

Leo laughed like crazy. "TOO LATE!"

After the ride ended, Haru wobbled off, looking dizzy.

Riku patted his back. "Let's go on something less scary now."

They enjoyed two more rides—a fun bumper car race and a giant Ferris wheel where they could see the whole city.

Sitting at the top of the Ferris wheel, Leo sighed happily. "This was the best idea ever."

Haru nodded, licking the last of his ice cream. "We should do this more often."

Riku, looking at their almost empty wallets, sweatdropped. "Let's just… not do it every day."

They all laughed, watching the city lights twinkle below them.
