Chapter 6: The Prophecy Unfolds
As I stood before the Tree of Life, I felt a sense of wonder and awe. The tree's branches seemed to be stretching out to me, as if beckoning me to come closer.
My mother's voice brought me back to reality. "Ade, the Tree of Life has shown you the map of the cosmos. Now, it's time for you to understand the prophecy."
I turned to her, feeling a sense of curiosity. "What prophecy?" I asked.
My mother's eyes seemed to cloud over, as if she was looking into a distant past. "The prophecy of the Ori," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's an ancient prophecy, one that speaks of a great imbalance in the universe. An imbalance that can only be corrected by the chosen one."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. The chosen one? What did she mean?
My mother's eyes locked onto mine. "Ade, you are the chosen one. You are the one who has been prophesied to bring balance to the universe. The Ori has chosen you, and you have a crucial role to play in the fate of the world."
I felt like I had been punched in the gut. Me? The chosen one? It sounded like something out of a mythological fantasy novel.
But as I looked at my mother, I saw the sincerity in her eyes. She believed what she was saying, and she expected me to believe it too.
"What do I need to do?" I asked, feeling a sense of determination rising up within me.
My mother smiled, a look of pride on her face. "You need to learn how to harness your power, Ade. You need to learn how to control the Ori. And you need to be prepared to face the challenges that lie ahead."
As she spoke, the Tree of Life seemed to be pulsing with energy, as if it was urging me on. I felt a sense of resolve, a sense of purpose. I was ready to face whatever challenges came my way. I was ready to fulfill my destiny.
But as I turned to leave, I saw Babatunde standing behind me, a look of seriousness on his face. "Ade, remember the warning," he said. "The power of the Ori comes with great responsibility. Use it wisely."
And with that, everything went black.
