Chapter 3: The Weight of Destiny
I tried to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach, but it only seemed to grow heavier with each passing moment. My parents' words kept echoing in my mind: "You're the chosen one, Ade. You're the next guardian of the Ori."
I didn't want to be a guardian of anything. I just wanted to be a normal kid, without all the drama and danger that came with being a descendant of the gods.
But as I looked at the dreamcatcher still clutched in my hand, I knew that I couldn't just walk away from this. My parents had made it clear that I had a destiny to fulfill, and that I was already a part of this world, whether I liked it or not.
I felt like I was trapped in a nightmare, with no way out. I didn't know what the Ori was, or what it meant to be its guardian. All I knew was that I was in way over my head.
As I stood there, feeling like I was drowning in uncertainty, I heard a faint whispering in my ear. It was a soft, raspy voice, and it seemed to be coming from the dreamcatcher itself.
"Ade, listen to me," the voice whispered. "You don't understand what's at stake here. The Ori is not just some ancient relic. It's a powerful force that can shape the very fabric of reality. And you, Ade, are the only one who can unlock its secrets."
I spun around, trying to see who was speaking to me, but there was no one there. The voice seemed to be coming from all around me, echoing off the walls.
"What do you mean?" I asked aloud, feeling a sense of trepidation. "What secrets?"
But the voice didn't respond. Instead, the whispering stopped, and the dreamcatcher fell silent. I was left standing there, feeling more confused and uncertain than ever.
As I looked down at the dreamcatcher, I knew that I had to make a choice. I could try to ignore the voice and the destiny that had been laid out for me, or I could take a step forward, into the unknown.
But as I hesitated, I felt a strange sensation building up inside me. It was like a spark of energy, growing stronger with each passing moment.
And then, in an instant, everything went black.
