Chapter 1 - reborn

Sloshing sounds and a feeling of weightlessness. Lime opens his eyes and sees a blurry visage before he feels the liquid around him being drained. Within moments, he finds himself falling into what seems to be an endless abyss. He feels weak, but he fights the sleepiness. He doesn't know where he is or what kind of danger he has found himself in this time.

After a few seconds, a thud is heard. He feels himself finally hit the ground. It hurts a bit, but not too much. He takes some time to adjust to his sensations. He checks himself, but he doesn't see his body—only an almost transparent green blob. He can see his organs and a glowing orb.

"What the hell? What is this? Where am I? What happened to me?"

He looks around and sees mountains of trash, carcasses, and other strange trinkets.

ped? And the things I saw…"

He remembers a hazy view of what seemed to be multiple people in a lab.

"Damn it… but this place… These skeletons don't even look like normal animals."

Steeling himself to not throw up, he inspects some skeletons and finds that they have strange anatomy. Then, he sees a red flash in the distance. Hopeful, he slowly approaches, hiding behind a hill of trash.

What he sees is truly bizarre—a monkey, seemingly pulling stones out of nowhere and throwing them at a bee… a gigantic bee. The bee dodges all of its attacks and, in an instant, stabs the monkey in the chest. After a few seconds, he watches the bee eat part of the monkey and carry the rest away.

"What was that… Magic? Is it possible that… I got reincarnated? …Uhm… System?"

In an instant, a blue pop-up appears in front of him, detailing many things.

---

After Lime found a safer place, he checked the system further, but what he saw intrigued him. His system kept glitching between two states—one showed the exact previous version, while the other was different.

The system suddenly became incredibly bright, almost blinding him. When he opened his eyes, the glitching had stopped, but something strange had happened. As if the system had fused, a new panel appeared, showcasing both sides—his class, biomass, mutations, and everything else.

"Intriguing… I can easily deduce that this shouldn't happen. You're either human or a monster… or maybe other humanoids like elves or dwarves. So I can have a class and still be a monster? Neat. Now, are there any bugs nearby I can kill to level up? Preferably small ones."

"YES! I can buy skills. Okay… swordsmanship? No… dash? Maybe… I neName: Lime

"Ooo, Biomass and skill points. It's easy to assess—I get skill points from leveling up and Biomass from eating. They gave me 20 Biomass each… I wonder."

He promptly clicked on the skills button, and it expanded, providing him with an endless amount of skills.

ed skills that not only ensure my safety but also ones that increase my attack power."

After a long time, he was finally happy with his selection.

"Now for Biomass, I think."

The same thing happened as he went through a list of Mutations he could acquire. It seemed Mutations evolved his body parts—maybe he could make his slime body stronger and not as easy to rip. He kept browsing.

"Okay, let's check this—Tougher Body, cost: 1."

He instantly clicked it and felt a very small change before looking at the system.

[Slime Body +1]

"Now it costs 2… it seems every level increases the cost by 1. That's gonna get expensive."

He clicked until he reached Slime Body +5.

[Choose a mutation.]

An endless list of Mutations appeared. Some were for magic, some made him venomous, and others granted him exotic skeletons.

"I wanna stay a slime… but I also wanna fight from afar. What if I choose a mana-related mutation?"

Dense slime body : your body becomes more durable and much denser ans less prone to being torn apart

What's next... oo my heart

After getting the heart to +5 I get a new list, I want to cast mana so it mot too hard to choose

"Everything seems good, but what's troubling is my stats don't evolve… Is it because I'm a failed experiment?

I also need to get a class, but no matter how much I click, I can't seem to get a list. I'll try later, but for now, the system is saying I can evolve… I don't want to do that yet. I want to get a few more mutations and skills first—maybe I can get a better mutation.

First, let's test the new skills."

Lime tested the Dash skill—it worked instantly. Dodge, however, didn't seem to activate; it looked like he actually had to avoid an attack for it to trigger.

Now for the main event—his Fire and Air Casting. He focused, channeling the knowledge he had gained from acquiring the skill. A small flame appeared in front of him. He could feel the blue orb inside him draining a small amount of energy at a slow rate.

He kept repeating the spell, summoning a tiny flame again and again. After some time, he finally heard the notification:

[Basic Fire Casting has leveled up!]

Excited, he continued practicing. Using the same strategy, he targeted weak, unsuspecting monkeys, slowly refining his skills. After several days, the sound he had been waiting for finally rang in his mind:

[Basic Fire Casting reached Level 10.]

[Basic Air Casting reached Level 10.]

[Basic Mana Control reached Level 10.]

But the skills didn't evolve automatically. He clicked on his Fire Casting skill, and suddenly, one skill point was deducted. His heart pounded in fear—but then the skill changed:

[Basic Fire Casting → Minor Fire Casting]

A rush of satisfaction washed over him. Encouraged, he repeated the process. Three more skill points were spent, and now all three of his magic-related skills had evolved.

His Expansion, Dash, and Dodge were leveling up slowly, and soon he would have to choose which one to leave behind—for now.
