"WHY IS EVERY MONSTER MORE IMPRESSIVE THAN ME?!"

"Life is so unfair! I DESERVE JUSTICE!"

Lime turned to Asil, still sulking. "Anyway, how do you feel, Asil?"

Asil beamed as she flew closer, buzzing with excitement. "I feel amazing, Master! I feel like I can protect you now!"

Lime grinned. "That's good. Let's always protect each other, then."

He thought for a moment before mumbling to himself, "I'm still a decent way from level 20, which I assume is the level I need to evolve... By then, I should have around 20 Strength, 40 Endurance, 60 Dexterity, and about 100 Intelligence... Okay, yeah, I'll stop complaining. That's way too strong. Monster growth should also be exponential, so by my next evolution, I should gain a ton of skills. I wonder if classes evolve into new tiers as well…"

---

Lime decided it was time to test Asil's newfound strength. Using his mana sense, he searched for a monster.

"There! Come on, Asil!"

He rushed forward, stopping in his tracks as he came face-to-face with an eight-legged horror.

"STUPID ARACHNID! WHY IS EVERYTHING HERE A BUG?! ASIL, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE KILL IT! AAAAAHHHH!"

"RIGHT AWAY, MASTER!"

Asil shot forward at incredible speed. Her new form was sleeker, her body larger and more aerodynamic. Her stinger had doubled in size, looking far deadlier than before. She zipped around effortlessly, dodging the spider's web shots like they were nothing.

Meanwhile, Lime, being the arachnophobe he was, cowered at a safe distance. "Stupid spider!" he grumbled, refusing to get any closer.

Despite Asil's strength, she struggled to land a decisive blow. The spider was fast, batting away her fire attacks and keeping her at bay. Then, in a split-second move, it pounced, wrapping her in thick webbing.

"Asil, NO!"

Before Lime could jump in to help, Asil's body erupted in a brilliant glow, the intense heat instantly melting the webbing off her. She shot away in the blink of an eye, then dived downward—stinger first—piercing straight through the spider's back. As it writhed, she unleashed a burst of flames, engulfing it entirely.

Lime's eyes sparkled. "That was SO COOOOOL!!! ASIL!!!"

Asil buzzed happily, floating down beside him. "Thank you! But… I still don't feel as strong as you, Master."

Lime smirked. "Hehehehe, don't worry! That's because I am THE COOLEST EVER! But you can be number two!"

Asil's wings fluttered excitedly. "Of course, Master!"

All things considered, the two of them shouldn't have much trouble on this level. The spider, sadly, didn't have a core, but it did have biomass… even though it was disgusting.

"Alright, Asil, let's eat up and go hunting for more."

After eating the entire monster, the two set off again, heading toward any mana signature Lime could sense. His skill was slowly leveling up, and soon, it would improve enough for him to track monsters more efficiently and even assess their strength.

---

Soon, they found themselves face-to-face with a group of six monstrous moles.

"I hope they're as blind as they are back on Earth…"

The moment he spoke, the moles turned toward him, their noses flaring.

Then—SHNK!

A barrage of sharpened rocks shot toward him at terrifying speeds.

"OH, COME ON! WHY DO MOLES KNOW HOW TO SHOOT?!"

Lime barely dodged in time, tumbling to the side as another volley of jagged stones flew past him, embedding themselves into the ground with sickening force. These things weren't just strong; they were coordinated.

"Damn… but this is a good opportunity to level up my Dodge and maybe some other skills!"

He focused, weaving through the attacks, feeling his instincts sharpening. Asil hovered behind him, watching anxiously, but she remained still—following his orders to stay put for now.

"Nyehehehehehe, WEAKLINGS!" Lime cackled as he evaded another strike.

THWACK!

A rock slammed into him, taking a small piece off his body.

"BASTARD! HOW DARE YOU HIT ME MID-EVIL-SPEECH?!"

Annoyed, he retaliated, gathering mana before launching a giant fireball at the nearest mole. The explosion sent it flying, its fur igniting in a burst of flames. The creature screeched in agony, thrashing before finally going still.

[You have defeated a Tunnel Mole.]

The remaining five immediately dug into the ground, disappearing in an instant.

"COWARDS!"

Lime ran to one of the holes, narrowing his eyes. "Oh, I know exactly what to do here… Asil, fetch them one by one!"

He dove into one of the holes. The moles were incredibly fast at digging, but not as fast as him falling or Asil swooping in. He crashed onto the first mole and used his oldest, most favorite tactic—engulfing it inside his gelatinous body.

The mole thrashed, trying to use its sharp claws, but being stuck inside such a thick blob made resistance incredibly difficult. It soon choked, and Lime heard the ding of victory.

Jumping out, he found that Asil had already taken care of the others, dragging them out one by one. Just like before, they were choked to death inside his slime body.

Then—

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

Lime grinned, feeling his strength growing. "Nice! More stats and skill points! Soon, I'll be unstoppable! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"Master?"

"Oh right… them… Let's eat up. And I think it's nighttime, so I should consume some cores."

He checked his inventory. "I have the one from the centipede and one from these moles. Too little… We need to go lower."

They returned to the cave, and Lime slowly absorbed the cores. His own core was now larger than Asil's had been before she evolved—but unlike her, he didn't feel any pain.

"Guess I still need a few more before I reach my limit…"

Didn't matter.

For now, it was time to drink from the mana lake, rest, and prepare to go even deeper.
