Chapter 5 - chapter 5:The thread of destiny

Episode 1 – A World That Feels Wrong

The scent of rain still lingered in the air. Chun Yu blinked, disoriented, as she sat up from the cold pavement.

She was back.

Back in the modern world.

Cars rushed past her, neon lights flickered, and people moved through the streets, unaware that she had just fallen through time itself.

Her hands trembled as she touched her own face.

The feeling of loss was unbearable.

She tried to remember… but the moment she reached for the memories, they slipped away like water through her fingers.

Something—someone—was missing.

She clutched her chest, her heart aching as if it had been torn in two.

A cold wind blew past, carrying whispers of a forgotten name.

And as she turned her head, she saw him.

Standing across the street.

A man with haunted eyes.

He looked at her like she was his entire world.

But Chun Yu had no idea who he was.

Episode 2 – The Man Who Knows Her Name

For the next few days, Chun Yu tried to return to her normal life.

She studied.

She walked the same streets.

She told herself nothing had changed.

But something was different.

Because everywhere she went… she felt his presence.

The man from the rain.

She would catch glimpses of him from afar. Standing at the bookstore. Walking past the library. Sitting on a park bench, watching her as if waiting for something.

And yet, every time their eyes met, he never approached her.

It was she who always turned away first.

One evening, as she left her class, she felt it again—that heavy gaze on her.

Chun Yu spun around.

And there he was.

This time, she didn't look away.

Instead, she stepped forward.

And so did he.

Until they were standing face to face.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then, the man finally said the words that sent a shiver down her spine:

"Chun Yu… do you remember me?"

Episode 3 – The Name She Cannot Recall

Her lips parted, but no words came.

She searched her mind, grasping for something—anything—that would make his name come to her.

But there was nothing.

The man's expression faltered. A flicker of pain crossed his features before he masked it with a gentle smile.

"It's okay," he murmured. "I knew you wouldn't."

Her chest tightened.

"Who are you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

His gaze softened, full of longing and sorrow.

"I've been waiting for you," he said.

The way he said it—so certain, so full of quiet suffering—made something inside her heart stir.

She didn't know him.

And yet…

She felt like she did.

Episode 4 – Echoes of the Past

That night, Chun Yu couldn't sleep.

She stared at her ceiling, replaying the conversation over and over again.

Who was that man?

Why did he look at her like she was his entire world?

A sudden flash of memory hit her.

Cherry blossoms.

A temple bathed in golden light.

The warmth of a hand holding hers.

The images disappeared as quickly as they came, leaving Chun Yu breathless.

She sat up, her fingers pressing against her temples.

That wasn't a dream.

It was real.

Somewhere, deep inside her, she knew him.

And then, she saw it—the jade hairpin on her bedside table.

Her fingers trembled as she picked it up.

The moment her skin touched the cool surface, a voice whispered in her mind.

"No matter how many lifetimes it takes… I will find you."

Chun Yu's breath hitched.

She had to see him again.

Episode 5 – A Love That Refuses to Die

The next day, Chun Yu found him waiting.

Just as she knew he would be.

She took a deep breath, stepping toward him.

"You…" She hesitated. "Who are you?"

His eyes locked onto hers.

And this time, instead of answering, he took something from his pocket.

A small, familiar piece of paper.

He unfolded it and held it out to her.

Chun Yu took it with trembling fingers.

The moment she read the words, her vision blurred.

Chun Yu,

Even if you forget me a thousand times, I will find you a thousand and one.

Wait for me.

A single tear slipped down her cheek.

She looked up at him, her chest tightening painfully.

Because now… she knew his name.

And as the memories slowly began to return, so did the love that time had tried to erase.
