Chapter 6 - chapter 6:The keeper of forgotten memories

Episode 1 – A Whisper from the Beyond

The night was still.

Chun Yu sat by her bedroom window, staring at the moon, her mind restless. The letter Song Lu had given her lay on her desk, its words carved into her heart.

She should have felt relieved.

She should have been happy to know there was someone waiting for her.

But instead, her chest felt unbearably heavy.

Who was she in that other world?

What had she forgotten?

And why did it feel like something—or someone—was watching her?

A gust of wind stirred her curtains.

Then… a voice.

"You seek answers."

Chun Yu's body stiffened.

The voice was neither male nor female, neither old nor young. It was soft, almost like a breath against her ear.

She turned.

And there, standing in the shadows of her room, was a figure cloaked in silver mist.

Their form was neither solid nor transparent—something in between, like a spirit caught between worlds.

Chun Yu's throat tightened.

"Who… who are you?" she whispered.

The figure stepped forward, the mist swirling around them like a living thing.

"I am the keeper of lost memories," they said. "And I have come… to return yours."

Episode 2 – The Guardian's Warning

Chun Yu's heart pounded.

Lost memories?

She clutched her head, suddenly overwhelmed by a sharp ache. It was as if something inside her was resisting the truth.

The figure raised a hand, and a soft glow illuminated the space between them.

Within the light, Chun Yu saw flashes of another life—a temple, a forbidden embrace, the sound of a name whispered in desperation.

Her body swayed.

"I… I don't understand," she murmured.

The guardian's voice was steady, gentle.

"You are trapped in a cycle of fate," they said. "Bound by a love that defied the will of the heavens."

Chun Yu's breath caught.

"A love that should not have existed," the guardian continued. "A divine punishment was cast. Now, you and Song Lu are destined to meet and part—again and again—until you find the one choice that will set you free."

The room seemed to grow colder.

Chun Yu's fingers tightened around the jade hairpin.

"What choice?" she asked, her voice trembling.

The guardian's misty form flickered.

"That… is for you to discover."

Episode 3 – A Glimpse into the Past

Before Chun Yu could ask more, the guardian extended their hand.

"If you truly wish to remember," they said, "then let me show you."

A pulse of energy surged through the air.

Before she could react, the world around her shifted.

The walls of her room dissolved.

She was no longer in her home.

She was standing in a courtyard bathed in golden light.

And in front of her, dressed in flowing white robes, stood Song Lu.

But… this wasn't the Song Lu she knew.

His eyes held power.

There was something otherworldly about him—something divine.

Chun Yu's breath caught as she realized—

This was their past.

And she was about to witness the moment that changed everything.

Episode 4 – A Love That Defied the Heavens

She couldn't move.

Couldn't breathe.

The past version of herself stood just steps away, her gaze locked onto Song Lu's.

"Song Lu," Past Chun Yu whispered.

His eyes softened. "You shouldn't be here."

"But I had to see you," she said, stepping closer. "I don't care what they say—I love you."

A storm of emotions crossed Song Lu's face.

"You know this is forbidden," he murmured. "If they find out…"

"I don't care."

She reached for him.

And he let her.

The moment their hands touched, the sky rumbled.

A golden seal appeared above them, shimmering with divine energy.

Chun Yu's heart pounded as she realized—this was the moment they were cursed.

Episode 5 – A Broken Thread

The past Song Lu turned suddenly, as if sensing something.

"We have to go," he said urgently. "Now."

But it was too late.

A blinding light shot from the sky, striking the ground between them.

A voice echoed across the heavens, cold and final.

"You have defied the laws of fate. You shall suffer for eternity."

Chun Yu gasped as her past self screamed.

The world around her shattered into fragments of golden light.

And suddenly—

She was back in her room.

Gasping.

Shaking.

The guardian's misty form flickered before her.

"Now you know," they said.

Chun Yu clutched her chest.

Tears slipped down her cheeks as the truth settled into her soul.

She and Song Lu were never meant to be.

And yet, they had fought against fate.

And now, they were paying the price.

The guardian's voice softened.

"The time is coming," they whispered. "The final choice… is near."

Then, before Chun Yu could speak, the mist dissolved—

And the guardian was gone.
