Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

ADIAN'S POV

I heard some commotions outside the pack house as I walk Adrian towards the garden where we do relax and decided to check out what it is when I felt a strange connection to this frail but beautiful lady who slapped Merida my fiancée. I felt so drawn to her and asked to be locked up immediately, I'm sure Adrian also felt the spark since we are twin but he decided to ignore as he was still a playboy and she was definitely not his spec. I went to visit her at the dungeon to reject her of course but couldn't bring myself to for some odd reasons that I can't explain. I ended up allowing her to make mockery of me so I left pretending to be annoyed.

Later in the evening

Adrianna:

My heart was beating wildly and I was scared that I'd die of a ripped heart before they could kill me.

I was standing in the living room, alongside the other servants in the house and we held our hands out defensively.

I had been asleep when I heard noises outside and before I could even get up, someone barged in. I sat up quickly, my heart thudding heavily in my chest and in the darkness, I saw the shadow of a man approach.

Beads of perspiration formed on my forehead and I swallowed hard, a gnawing feeling in my mind that there was trouble. I began to breathe heavily and as the shadow got closer, I could see that it was a masked figure. I shrieked, horrified as I sprang up quickly, running to the other side of the room.

The mask was unlike anything I had ever seen before as the light from the moon shone into my room from the window, providing some sort of illumination. It had a sinister appearance, having sharp, jagged edges for a mouth with elongated pointy ears. The eyes were hollow and tears clouded my eyes as he blocked my path, yanking my arm and taking me with him to the living room where the servants had already been taken.

'goddess helps me,' I muttered silently, blinking back the tears that threatened to cloud my features.

There were about eight and They were heavily armed and I knew that these weren't amateurs, these were professional assassins.

"We are here for the Luna, you all will be fine if you don't interfere, "One of them barked and I inhaled deeply. They won't hurt me, they'll let me go, they weren't here for me. I'm not the Luna!

"You!" One of them barked and I shivered, refusing to look up at him as I knew he was talking to me.

I was the one in the room meant for the Luna. Adrian had taken me as his bride and before he left that night, he had a sinister smile on his face.

Adrian hated me since the moment he set his eyes on me and never bothered to hide that fact. To him, I was just one of his property. after all,I was sold to him! He knew these men were coming and only used me as a substitute bride. I found it weird that he took me as his bride when he already had one, but I now understand. It was to deceive them, I was just a sacrificial lamb!

My heart sank and the tears began to fall, washing away the relief I had felt earlier when I thought I was safe. These men were going to kill me and they were not going to be merciful about it.

I wanted to disappear, I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole. He had betrayed me—-

"Turn around," he said again, but I stood rooted in the spot. I was too terrified to move.

As the tears streamed down my face, I began to think of the life I had lived, my father's betrayal, how he had sold me out and Adrin, how he hated my guts and had set me up to be murdered by these men.

"Please—please—please don't hurt me," I stuttered in between tears.

"Shut up!" One of them said as he grabbed my arm and yanked me forward to the rest of them and then pushed me to a kneeling position.

"I'm—I'm not—," I tried telling that that I wasn't the Luna but before I could complete my sentence, I received a deafening slap which made me fall to the ground.

I whimpered as I began to ease up slowly, shaking my head in denial as the tears continued to stream down my face.

"You will not speak unless you're spoken to! You bitch!" The one I assumed to be the leader thundered and I shivered as I nodded quickly.

I glanced at the maids, they were all shaken as much as I was and I knew they wouldn't be able to help my plight.

"Where is he?" The leader questioned again and I glanced up at him sharply and then realized my mistake as their mask sent shivers down my spine, I looked away quickly.

I wanted to ask him what he meant and who he was talking about, but before I could say anything, one of the men behind me nudged me forward with his gun and I almost fell to the ground but quickly regained my composure.

"Answer the fucking question!"

I was too in shock for anything to come out of my mouth. And I had no idea where Adrin was! He never told me anything!

There was one thing I understood from the entire scenario, these men were assassins, professional ones at that and they were sent to kill the Pack's Luna, for some reasons known to only them— the only problem was that I wasn't the Luna. Adrian had deceived both me and them.

"I'm not the Luna!" I Intended to yell loudly, instead, it came out as a whimper and I cursed myself internally.

Pathetic Adrianna, pathetic as always.

They chuckled and muttered to themselves and I slowly raised my eyes to glance at them and quickly averted them as I tightened my jaw.

"Shut up!"

I swallowed the painful lump in my throat as I thought of the best way to convince them that this was Adrin's plan, that I was just a substitute bride, nothing else.

"Please—" I whimpered as I realized that there was no way to convince them that I wasn't who they thought I was. I was just—a means to an end.

This was the only way I was useful to him. I used the back of my palm to wipe my tears away as I glanced around the room for an escape route, there was nothing and I knew I couldn't escape them, even if I tried.
