Taken to Camp Half-Blood, Lucas didn't know how to react. He recognized everything - the dining hall, the arena, even the pine tree that protected the magic barrier. But that was impossible.
"Am I in a coma?" he thought, as Chiron - yes, Chiron - examined him with a wise look.
"You don't smell like a half-blood," said the centaur. "But you don't look like an ordinary mortal either. Where did you come from, Lucas?"
He hesitated. How could he explain that he came from a world where everything was fiction?
"I don't know," he said.
It was then that Annabeth Chase entered the pavilion, her gray eyes full of suspicion.
"If he's not a demigod, how did he get through the barrier?"
No one had an answer. But Lucas knew one thing: he was inside a world that should only exist in books.
He would have to find out why.
